The way I see it is that they both were very drunk and wanted to do something ’crazy’.
I think its hysterical, its promo! Madonna may not have gone that far to promote herself but she has come close by doing other stuff. :P
Majdy said on January 7, 2004 08:04:
I used to hate her... but after I saw she kissed Madonna, I started to like her :D
(I hope I’m not drunk when I post it :)

As for being the role model for kids, there was an article on her in Time magazine, and she was quoted as saying ” I dont understand why people think I should be a role model for their kids. they are YOUR kids, you are responsible for them, not me.”
not bad. heh.

I agree. You´re right, Britney.
But I still hate her video with Madonna....

Santi said on January 8, 2004 19:51:
I don’t agree at all. A person with millions of followers must have in mind that she’s what many of them want to be, because everyone wants to be successful. Even more when most of them are kids and teenagers. Teenagers get impressed very easily and moreover, they don’t want to listen to their parents.
In our times is not parents that grow up the kids, it’s the society as a whole that does such a thing, and their teachers, their friends, and their role models play an important part in making a person. The two later more than teachers and parents of course, since as I said before, the least a teenager wants is to have to listen to an oldie... or don’t you remember yourselves just some years ago?
She should mind what she does and think she’s got millions of people looking at her, and when she acts that stupid one just realises how little she deserves to be adored like she is... but her followers don’t see it. She’s just a mask with nothing inside, not even a little mosquito brain...
I hope she asks Santa some brains this next Xmas... for the good of the world.
Santi said on January 8, 2004 19:56:
I want to add to this, that for all the Roxette fans, so many here. Do you think you wouldn’t have found amusing and interesing this shit if they did when you were younger?
Don’t you think that the way they handle things has had some influence in you as human beings?
Reply sincerely.
Majdy said on January 9, 2004 08:24:
I think Britney is in the hardest year of her life.
I remember her song “lucky”, maybe that’s what she felt like now...
kachina008 said on January 9, 2004 08:25:
Santi, I agree with you to some extent. but everyone behaves badly once in a while, so whyshould superstars not? I mean, Im sure they think, to hell with the public im going to get drunk and dance on the tables naked (or something). It’s a difficult thing to delieante. as for parents taking responsibility, a strong homelife is absolutely essential for any child to grow up in. if you give your kid what he needs when he is growing up (companionship, a listening ear etc) then he is less likely to be influenced by “bad” things.
Eminem never made a pretense to be good. he was always advertised as “bad”...so what’s the big deal? rock musicians have always f*cked around with drugs and alcohol. some of the greatest names in music these days have died of drug overdoses. so who’s to say what is good or bad? that’s where censorship comes in, where OTHER people decide what is good and what is bad, and that I know pisses everyone off.
so, I say, if you have children it is still your responsibilty to make sure they go in the right direction. everyone knows there are terrible influences everywhere, so you make sure that your child gets the values that you personally think matter. that should not to be up to the politicians, the muscians, or the actors on the screen. it should be up to you. and if you have provided your child with the strong home and family life when he/she was growing up, then as a teenager, no matter how rebellious they are, they will still come back to you in the end.
:)
Jud (moderator) said on January 9, 2004 08:33:
well what to ask an artist that has nothing to do with you to be responsible.. when sometimes PARENTS themselves aren’t? Child abuse comes to my mind...
Jud (moderator) said on January 9, 2004 08:34:
And then, hundreds of ppl have married in Las Vegas and divorced the following day, so she is just “another one”... why to make it such a fuzz???

kachina008: Once again, I agree with you 100%. Good that I didn’t post my comments before reading yours.
Judith: Yours too.
Rock stars are people. Pop stars are people. As a doctor, you do your job by curing people. As an engineer, you design things to make life easier. As a musician (whether you call Britney one or not), you make songs and as a singer, you sing songs for people to enjoy. Noone mentioned anywhere that a musician would be a role model. As an individual, I should be smart enough not to fall for a celebrity’s actions. I am in love with Freddie Mercury and have been since I was 8. Well as a person with money and fame, he’s done pretty dirty stuff. His private life, I don’t care. On the other side, he’s done so much good that make me not even think of his life-style which is by the way non of my business. Well one would say he’s a pretty bad role model for his life-style and the fact that he died of Aids which on its own was a huge scandal. No... Growing up adoring him, I neither became gay nor contracted HIV nor used drugs. Same with Britney. Just because she got married doesn’t mean she is a bad person to look up to. That is her private life. If you like her music, buy her CDs, listen to them and that should end there. Nothing more. You can cry for her and all but why would a secure person look up to someone like her or as a matter of fact, a rock star? I can look up to rock stars all I want for their charity work and music but why would I want to follow their footsteps into the world of drugs? It would be my stupidity if I do so!!!

FROM USA TODAY—
Britney Spears reportedly marries, but already prepared for annullment
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Pop star Britney Spears married a childhood friend from Louisiana in an early morning ceremony, but quickly arranged to have it annulled, a source close to the singer told The Associated Press on Sunday.
The 22-year-old Spears and Jason Allen Alexander of Kentwood, La., “took a joke too far by getting married” Saturday, her record label, Jive Records, said in a statement released to Entertainment Tonight.
“Ms. Spears and Mr. Alexander have filed for an annulment which will become official on Monday,” read the statement by Sonia Muckle, Jive’s vice president of publicity.
George Maloof Jr., owner and operator of the Palms Casino Hotel, said Spears and Alexander got married about 5:30 a.m. Saturday at a Las Vegas wedding chapel.
“Nobody knew it was coming,” said Maloof, Spears’ good friend.
The two arranged an annulment Saturday afternoon in the presence of several people, including a Las Vegas lawyer, said a source close to Spears who spoke on condition of anonymity. The signed annulment will be filed when the courts open Monday morning, the source said.
Spears and Alexander journeyed by limousine to the Little White Wedding Chapel on the Strip after a stop at the Ghostbar, a club in the Palms Casino Hotel. The chapel staff told the couple they couldn’t get married without a license, so they were taken to get a license and driven back to the chapel, where they were married.
The bride wore a baseball cap and torn jeans down the aisle and was escorted by a Palms limousine driver, the source told the AP.
Maloof denied rumors that Spears was drunk and had to be carried out of the Rain nightclub inside the Palms on New Year’s Eve.
“I was with her the whole night,” he said. “None of those reports were accurate. She was just having a good time.”
Spears was still staying at the Palms and was expected to leave Sunday. Employees at the chapel declined comment.
Alexander was back in his hometown Sunday, according to his grandfather, Robert Alexander.
“He’d been through a lot. We picked him up in New Orleans coming back and he didn’t have much to say,” the elder Alexander told Entertainment Tonight.
“I wish them well,” he said. “Whatever happens, happens.”
He said Spears and Alexander had also spent Christmas Eve together.
Calls to Alexander’s family home in Kentwood were answered by a machine. His grandmother said any details about the wedding would have to come from Jason or his father.
“We know about the wedding and stuff. It’s all over the news,” Betty Alexander said.
Spears released her fourth album, In the Zone, last November. It debuted at the top of the album charts. She begins a concert tour March 2 in San Diego.
