DVD postponed again

28 replies

At the risk of reopening a can of worms, it looks like EMI Canada has postponed the release of the new DVD again, now scheduled for the 25th of November.

EMI has production problems...

emi has problems .... :-P

I am sure that nobody is deseperately waiting for it...

Perhaps they’ll have a chance to sneak the missing material from “All the Videos” into this new compilation ? Who knows. I personally would have added them as Easter Eggs.

Universal Music Group is also having problems. The second Queen compilation was delayed from the 3rd to the 25th.

robmc yeah :). I was waiting desparately for that.

And arnie, if you are not, I am looking forward to buying that roxette dvd first thing in the morning of its release date. Who are you to think for others.

Don’t blame the company, blame the people working for the company, I think they need people that can make logical sense when doing something and not just people that does something when 1 suggestion was made...I call it Unproffessional and also “I have power and will use it without thinking”

u know what that signals? that it wont be an international release like they claim mark my works neither emi canada no whatever group they r using to distribute in america will prodouce the dvd

I think that maybe there is a problem with the conversation from pal to ntsc, because here EMi Spain say that he DVD will release on 3th November. I don’t know, it’s strange

Wasn’t it originally scheduled for the 11th? If it’s moved back to the 25th, that’s only 2 weeks. While I myself am looking forward to it, I think I can hang on two more weeks. I’ve waited this long. . .

Postponed again? Gee, didn’t see that one coming! :-P

coyboyusa - There is a possibility that it might not be produced in the states because sales would be low there compared to the recent artist’s DVDs. But EMI Music Canada would have plenty of incentives to produce them :

1. Canada still has a fan base.
2. Exports to the states would validate production.
3. The promotional re-packaging possibilities would compensate for lower than average sales.

Anarem - Music DVDs rarely get released on the release date. I’d say the average delay is two to three months but Celine Dion’s was delayed for more than a year and Enya’s was delayed indefinately. EMI has delayed the Tears for Fears DVD into next month as well but I doubt we’ll wait for long.

@robmc: yes, I knew that, was just being sarcastic :-)

robmc they have done it so many times. I agree with you.

If dvd’s are very rarely released on time....then why give them a release date at all....why not say....oh it’ll be out eventualy but we can’t say when. ;)

Anarem - :)

Vixzter - Sometimes I think they should wait for a weak prior to it’s release before using a release date. They should just say a DVD will be released early, mid or late (enter year here) until they get a definate date down. This would be better that the “wack a mole” game we get to play with some of the DVDs. :)

And as for the deletion of “All The Videos Ever Made & More”?... Any date by now?...

:(

Hey... I STILL plan on getting it. Still a birthday gift to myself

@sweepi:

What deletion? Nothing’s getting deleted, the ATVEMAM DVDs are just not getting manufactured anymore. I think your best bet to find that DVD is to go on eBay, like many other peoplw have (me included).

Me, I’m still getting the Pop/Ballad Hits DVD, because I can’t play the ATVEMAM DVD anywhere but on my dinky Apex DVD player, which will probably fall apart at any moment now... :-)

mm isn’t it more or less the same to delete the old DVD as to stop producing it? After all, the old dvd won’t be available for normal purchase in short.. so collectors, hurry up :P

Sweepi & Judith - It will likely still be available for some time. It just got released in Australia. I think the remaining stock will be sold off at low prices.

Anarem - The next DVD player i’m buying will definately be a brand name pal compatible. The Apex 1200 I purchased was just an extra player to play the few Pal DVDs i’ve imported - I Play most of my DVDs on a RCA.

@robmc:

My primary DVD player is a Pioneer, manufactured a couple of years ago. It’s a beaut, still in good working order, it just can’t play PAL DVDs. So I bought a $50.00 Apex, which does a pretty good job of playing PAL discs. Now, it’s working fine for the moment but I’m a bit afraid of it falling apart– it’s not very sturdy, compared to better-known brand name DVD players, but really, what do you expect for $50? :-)

I remember when I bought the Apex, the salesguy was trying to steer me away from the brand, telling me that cheap DVD players like Apex can’t possibly convert PAL signals to NTSC, but I definitely knew better, thanks to your listing of PAL-compatible DVD players on your website. Those guys at Future Shop can be such dirty rotten scoundrels... :-P

I hate shopping at Future Shop!

Anarem - You’re welcome. I thought it was time someone listed them because I rarely encountered sales staff that knew what was and what wasn’t compatible with Pal or which of them converted the signal to NTSC.

Future Shop’s site has listened to my suggestions and posted additional compatibility information on their site. If you’re unsure of what model to get while you’re at the store, ask the staff to access their site.

I’ll probably consider a printable version of my listing in the near future and possibly additional information on VCD compatibility.

Shane - The two major problems I have with the chain is the occassional lack of salespeople to answer phone calls and salespeople that push extended warrenties, which are generally useless and overpriced.

I still like the chain though. Their stores are conveniently located for me and their prices and hours are great. I don’t visit them on Boxing day though. They get very crowded and you can wait for an hour to pay for your purchase, if you’re lucky. I stick to their site for their Boxing Day sale.

@Shane + robmc:

We should start a Future Shop thread over on the Off-topic board! :-) I have so many horror stories about them, especially about getting my computer fixed there. What is the point of getting an extended warranty when you have to wait two weeks for a floppy disk drive from the manufacturer, when you can just buy a new one from the store instead? Gah!

They do, however, have a wonderful selection of DVDs and CDs– I got Room Service, The Ballad Hits and The Pop Hits there when they first came out.

well maybe they;d have the descency then to take all the time to split the videos over 2 discs redo the menus artwork etc.....make it a fitting hits dvd package but we know they wont

Anarem good call hah

@Tider12_: Euh, you’re wrong, I just looked in EMI Music Spain’s web site and it says that “Fecha de lanzamiento: 17/11/03”, so here it’s postponed also :O
