e-bow

what is that?
Santi said on October 9, 2003 20:13:
Well, actually is a device, not an instrument :D
It’s a device that makes the guitar string to keep vibrating and so that way you get much longer sustain than what you would normally get. Infinite sustain.

Actually I guess it’s called like that because, like a normal bow does with a violin, that produces infinite sustained sounds, this does it electronically. Good enough the explanation? :D

thx Santi ;] since it is not separate instrument, why is it listed in twatg booklet?
Santi said on October 9, 2003 21:43:
Because it does require a different tecnique, since it’s not played with a usual pick. Many times different guitar tecniques are listed not as “guitar”. Like for example, you get to see “slide guitar”, “dobro guitar”, “pedal steel guitar”, “acoustic guitar”, “electric guitar”, “guitar solo”, “rhythm guitar”... and well, you also do see “e-bow” :D

so i’d like to see ’ebow guitar’ for example ;] would be better ;] ok thx for explanation !

One of the most famous e-bow recordings is in U2’s with or without you

Is that that high, keening wailing thing in “With Or Without You”? Love that song, but that hurts me ears if I’ve got it up too loud. Especially with headphones.

A musical instrument.
