"Breathe" as a singiel?

Roxette is going to have another big gap. What do you think about release, in my opinion, great ballad “BREATHE” before Christmas or Valentine Day? “The ballad hits” is album, which sale will be able to increase in this time and it would help it. But at first ROXETTE would be remind people about themself. What’s your opinion about it?

to late to release Breath as a single

it’s sad, but it’s true, that it’s too late to release it as a singel. In my opinion the demo version is better. But I think that Roxette has many unreleased songs so maybe it’s time to put one or two on a movie-soundtrack... One of them could be Breathe or Bla bla bla bla bla...

Well breathe for me was perfect to be lead single, love the song is in my all time top 10 now.
PS demo SUCKS, per voice is not good on it, suits marie to a T . :)

Well, as much as I would like to have another single release, I doubt it’s going to happen. Releasing “Breathe” as a single, without a video, would be cool though. I still think this song could have been a hit.

I think it’s not too late because “The ballad hits” is album, which could be very popular in every Christmas or Valentine Day. Something like many CD’s with Christmas-carol in Christmas time. So?

i agree

i think they should release it like a charity single for x-mas, make a video and include that on the new DVD....

Nice idea, but it won’t happen surely. That idea about a song in a movie soundtrack sounds better, and maybe it’s more possible to happen. I love that idea!!

Obviously, if you say that a demo sucks, you don’t have a hint of what a demo is for....

Well, talk about funny coincidences, this about “Breathe” to come up at this moment. For quite some long (make it looooong) weeks that I didn’t bother to turn on the radio (usually I only connect to the radio waves whenever there’s some Roxette release on the way to “check on the airplay”) and which wasn’t my surprise when, yesterday, as incidentally turning on the radio just on time for the daily top 10 most requested songs on one of my favourite stations, there it was, almost 1 year after the release of “The Ballad Hits” and being thrown on the airplay (by that as by some other radio stations here) as the year beggan, there it was “Breathe” right on spot #2. I mean, don’t know what this may or may not show, (regarding the potential of “Breathe”), but, anyway, it sure made me glad, sure did. (And even more when later on that night (that surprise with “Breathe” made me - as Per would say - keep the radio on) I still got to hear “Anyone” + “Un Día Sin Ti” + “Crash! Boom! Bang!” + “A Thing About You” (each in different stations). And btw also just the other day there it was the whole “How Do You Do!” as the background music to one very popular TV program here. Talking ’bout the “survival” of Roxette and their music...) Anyway, as I said, a funny coincidence, which I thought I’d share...

thank you for sharing @ sweepi :-D that must have been great!!

Just a thought ... Silver blue was released as a b side on The Look (as a demo), then they made a video for it on Look Sharp Live. Breathe was also rerleased as a bside demo. For sentimental reasons, why dont they put Breathe as a video motage (just like Silver blue) on the new DVD.
Both songs are quite similar in their tempo and mood, dont you think?

I live in hope...

Silver Blue thingie was horrible :S

Silver Blue video is one of my faves ..

great idea but we all know it will never happen

Could we make some akind of petition? Per, if you read it, do this!!!!!!!!! It would be great, because it’s really hard for us to wait for new Roxette songs on the charts!! C’mon!

this is another case of.....what’s the point?

Its a year since Ballad Hits came out, Roxette aren’t doing anything at the moment, they can’t/don’t want to promote anything, Per has his solo stuff still going, Marie is gonna release new solo stuff.

Just coz u heard the song for the first time in a long while the other day doesn’t mean they should release it as a bloody single.

Hell i think I might petition for Hotblooded to be released as a single.....anything goes! ;P

LOL @ Vixzter

No, never. A horrible song :)

I agree with you ANTZ!!

vix: me!! I love Hotblooded :D

Breathe is still being airplayed on some radios here in Portugal so i presume that a promo cd of it was sent to some radios but that does not mean that it was supposed to be a commercial release....

I’d love to see it as single but since A Thing About You was so loved here by listeners and music buyers and even so strongly praised for by RADIO it simplicty and beauty it was one of the most airplayed songs during this whole since last year....now this is what i call being a hit instead of those “chart”-shities...

When people like it (whether they buy it or not) it’s enough to make a song know and popular anywhere at least here in Portugal...no need for charts to rule our tastes...

Vixzter :”Just coz u heard the song for the first time in a long while the other day doesn’t mean they should release it as a bloody single.”

Assuming this is a comment to my own previous post (?) then Vixzter I think you somehow misunderstood it. :) That what I said didn’t want to mean some/any motive for releasing “Breathe” as single whatsoever. Not at all. (In fact I myself, and if my opinion may count for whatever, don’t see that much logic in releasing “Breathe” as single at this point, and if not for any other reason, for the simple one that (at least here anyway) it’s long now that this song has hit the radio waves (also as I said previously, since early this year) so personally I don’t think there’s much point in releasing it at this stage, after the impact you get from first-hand radio airplay is gone. But then again, to decide the strategies for Roxette in the market is not my part of the job. The most I can, as I do, is of course to have own opinions about it. Opinions that I mainly use to and prefer to preserve for myself as anyway, again, managing Roxette in the market is not my part of the job.) As I said before, all of it was just a funny coincidence, that someone brought up (now again!) this thought of getting “Breathe” released as single, curiously enough in a time when I got to realise that the song (even though it hasn’t been a commercial single, even though it hasn’t been even a radio single, even though it’s now been something like 10 months since it first started to get airplay here) it still pretty much “breathes” in the most requested songs charts. So what actually did I want to say with it? Well... That this perhaps goes to show (or then again perhaps it doesn’t show anything at all I don’t know?) that maybe “Breathe” was a song with some kind of potential (at least the listeners seem to appreciate it?)?... That perhaps it might have had a chance might it had been released in the proper moment (or perhaps, and if it did had been released, perhaps it might even not have worked, (in the commercial perspective of it of course), who will know)?... Well, perhaps this, perhaps that... Anyway, guess I was just trying to express (and that’s even why I added that parenthesis about “Anyone” and the rest) that it does make me glad, it makes me pleased, (even proud if I might use this word here), pleased to, everytime everyone seems to (once more!) start questioning/speculating about the survival of Roxette to any occasional break or the “timelessness” of their music, to go and turn on the radio and, there they are. Pretty much still “breathing” in the air waves. Everytime. So I guess that was just it what I wanted to say with my previous post... And also I thought that others might, as myself, be pleased to hear that, so I thought I’d share it... :) But it had no particular connection to the actual subject of this thread, the wish of having “Breathe” released as a single, no other than that of my coincidental reference to the song anyway... :P (I mean, just the other day for instance I got to hear “Crush On You” on the radio, and just the fact of mentioning it doesn’t put it as I’m now wanting the song to be released as a single, understand what I mean? :P But still I’m sorry if the way I put it in the first place, it somehow mislead you in undertanding my words and my point. Then again perhaps this was even my fault for posting my comment in this particular thread... Sorry again. Hope it’s all clearer now? :))

PS: “Hotblooded”? I say: hell yea! :)

Sorry...I haven’t got all night to read that :P makes my eyes hurt after a while.
