DVD News for North Americans

According to EMI Canada’s official site, a DVD entitled “The Ballad & Pop Hits” will be released in Canada on November 11th. No news on the content yet. I will email the company for details and post the info if they get back to me :

Interesting... is this what was Per was referring to then? All the best, Rich-UK (PS Could have called it “The Hits”!!)

Good to hear... although I doubt that I’ll see it in my town and will once more probably have to get it imported.
TheRain1981 said on September 30, 2003 17:18:
This is good news. I can import it from Canada and actually be able to play it on a DVD player other than the one on my computer. But I must say I’m a bit surprised Canada of all places is getting a Roxette release considering how sales have been for them lately there.

Finally - a DVD that should work in DVD player. I am tired of watching DVDs on my computer. Great news. I cannot wait.
November 11th though? That is Remembrance Day in Canada (not the best marketing idea to release a DVD that day - not really a “happy, let us go shopping day!”)

I just got an email from EMI Music Canada. they’ll post the track listing on their site next week.
DaminehGessle & irvye : It’ll probably be carried in the major chains in the larger cities of the country. You will definately be able to place a special order via your major chain or order it directly from EMI.
TheRain1981 : They were B I G here in Canada. Ten of their singles were in the top ten, three of which were chart toppers. Eight of them, including the three chart toppers, were in the top five. Two of their albums were top ten albums here, “Joyride” topping the charts for two weeks.
robmc said on September 30, 2003 22:00:
Shane : It’s an average day outside of Canada so the labels are keeping their schedule, in conjunction with the international release schedules.

I think it also will be released in europe because the labe of the DVD is Emi europe! What do you think?

I live in a pretty small town (only seventy-five thousand people) with a grand total of three record shops. I’m sure that they’ll be able to order it in for me. I just hate walking up to the counter and asking for “Roxette” because the clerks always give me dirty looks.
robmc said on October 1, 2003 01:59:
RoXoR - Perhaps. I think they should release another DVD containing the videos that weren’t included on the previous compilation - Like EMI did with Bjork. They could always re-package the remaining stock with it.
irvye - You could always order it online. :) Or you could distract them by asking for the latest Cannibal Corpse or Marilyn Manson CD as well.

Well I live in Vancouver/Victoria! I believe Vancouver is considered a big city in Canada :)! So HMV will definitely get it!
Dear I believe you have not notice how badly TBH and TPH have done here in Canada. Horribly bad! Joyride was different. When you mention Roxette, you need to sing either The Look or Joyride for people to know what you are talking about. They wouldn’t even know Roxette by How Do You Do let alone hits from the last few albums!

This is fantastic news, just what I was hoping for when Per mentioned a re-issue. And now that I live in Vancouver (hi Damineh!), I’m certain I’ll be able to get it in my city (for once!)... hope they stock more than one or Damineh and I will be fistfighting for it (-; I think EMI Canada is smart to release this collection, if only for the catalogue (to replace the “Don’t Bore Us...” video compilation, which is now horribly out of date and only available on VHS)... also, they can cash in on imports from American customers (although they might be too late, having waited so long after the rest of the world to order it). Thanks for passing along this great news!
robmc said on October 1, 2003 19:30:
DaminehGessle - Sales are low because Canadians had already purchased the first “Don’t Bore Us - Get to The Chorus” compilation, which peaked at #36 in the charts in 1995, remaining in the top 40 for 4 weeks. The second “Don’t Bore Us” compilation released in 2000 is also responsible for weaker sales of the latest compilations.
Anarem said on October 3, 2003 02:54:
Whoo hoo!... so I didn’t have to buy that Roxette DVD from Europe, as well as that second DVD player that plays PAL DVDs?
Well, crap. :-)
DaminehGessle said on October 3, 2003 05:47:
Anarem: haha :D
roxtexanet: Where in Vancouver are you? Wow nice to see someone from my city :D.
Rob: A fan would buy any album that comes out. I have been a great Roxette fan since I was 8 but do not own every single album and single in 7”, 3” and all different sizes and shapes people talk about!! I have every album and that is enough cause to be honest with you, I couldn’t get more!!! So I don’t think someone who is just walking by the racks and sees Roxette DVD would actually buy it. Fans hear about it, look for it and buy it. That’s usually how it goes. Plus... I personally haven’t heard a Roxette song on the radio since HAND came out. They only played STARS for a few days in a battle and it lost so they stopped playing it. Yeah that’s it. And when people don’t hear the song on the radio, they usually don’t go look at every CD in the shop to find one. You buy what you went for. That’s how I think about this.

“A fan would buy any album that comes out” where does it say so? My fan-guide doesn’t tell that I have to become dumb and buy everything my fave artists release ;)
:´( just found out I am not a real fan *cry* :D
roxtexanet said on October 3, 2003 23:19:
@Damineh: Kitsilano! Beautiful neighbourhood, close to everything, couldn’t ask for anything more (except maybe cheaper rent... )-: ). You?
DaminehGessle said on October 4, 2003 03:38:
roxtexanet: Well I used to live in West Vancouver. My parents still live there and whenever I am in town, I ofcourse live in our house in west van. I moved to Victoria 3 years ago to go to UVic. I go on coops anywhere. I was in California for 9 months and last summer I was in WV. So basically i am all over the place. But yeah West Van and Victoria :D.
Judith: I have no comments to what you just said. You always want to disagree with everyone and I do not want to deal with you.
Ferdan said on October 4, 2003 04:52:
Judith....
we are no real fans :(
It must be a new definition for “Fan”: The richer you make your favorite artist, the bigger of a fan you become.
Jud (moderator) said on October 4, 2003 08:47:
exacto Ferdan :)
If I would disagree with everyone, I wouldn’t agree either with those who don’t like the idea of this DVD ;)
I just find it ridiculous the way some people define “fan”, for me it is just about enjoying an artist music - that’s why I count myself among the fans of many artists. But it doesn’t mean that you have to eat everything an artist releases, definetely not. Some Metallica fans were disappointed with Load and Reload cuz they were not that “hard”, but not for that they were less fans, I would say. Are they stupid then cuz they don’t like those albums and critisize the band? My mum is Beatles and Elvis fan, but she doesn’t have everything they have released neither she likes all the songs, and?
DaminehGessle said on September 30, 2003 05:52:
hmmm... which stores will they be selling this in??
