Per: the fans are not stupids
yellowtigger said on September 26, 2003 10:25:
Why do you do this with us?
We are a lot of fans around the world, but not stupids. We love ROXETTE, PER SOLO and MARIE SOLO, but we are not stupids.
Why dont you say the truth?
Roxette never will back!!
yellowtigger said on September 26, 2003 11:49:
Sorry? Im bad because all is take the money of the fans. They dont think in quality records.
They only want our money, Steve. Ok?
I will be very happy if Rox will released a new cd.
But.......when? In 2013?
flower said on September 26, 2003 12:18:
The year 2013
They could ask Gabriel and Josefin for the backing vocals. Oscar can help ’m out with their walkingsticks. ;-D
Denstandigaresan said on September 26, 2003 12:35:
You are the stupids yep. Cause you think this stuff is all down to Per.
What if it was Marie that chose all this stuff to happen? Oh no, can’t possibly have a dig against her.
Don’t have to buy it. HOW MANY times do you need telling.
You’re a bunch of ungrateful fecks.
EMI say what goes. They charge the prices.. THEY pocket the majority of the money. Point fingers at them, and for ONCE LEAVE Per alone. ARG! >:(
Denstandigaresan said on September 26, 2003 12:38:
I for one would applaud Roxette for calling it a day. Seeing the reaction they get from the fans, I’d tell you all to go feck yourselves.
Anything they do from now you’ll moan about. They’ll never win.
flower said on September 26, 2003 12:45:

Bright and shiny as always! You’re the sunshine on this site!
Kiwein1 said on September 26, 2003 13:06:
Well, do they want to update the DVD again and again and again? It doesn’t make much sense to update the DVD NOW! Why not wait until 2005?
Denstandigaresan said on September 26, 2003 13:17:
I know, i’m miserable today... Sorry peeps. Got doctors this afternoon... check for DVT. :(:( So I could be dead soon, that’s good innit. :)
If you all feel so strongly about this. Start a petition. Instead of finger pointing etc. A petition works wonders!
Someone with a site, maybe set one up.

somehow I could understand your point of view
and that´s all about money....
and of course it is...everything in this owrld today is about money....
but I agree to denständiga...
Why do you always make Per responible for this....
because he is the one who is telling this to the fans.....
it´s defintitly not only him....................
and I think he knows better what fans feel like as other artists do...guess why...
Denstandigaresan said on September 26, 2003 13:34:
@master-piggy: I couldn’t word it better.
Because Per is telling us... he’s getting it in the neck. :/
master-piggy said on September 26, 2003 13:44:
@denstandigaresan
Thanx....
just tried it....
i imagine how hard it must be for Per....
Marie -one of his closest friends- got cancer...that must be terrible
then he has to told it to the fans...and that´s not all
no matter where he is, or why he is there, it alwys comes to this topic....
for him it was ever since Roxette started the international career with Roxette that counts...
all his solowork or GT work was made in the breaks Marie decided to take
it was her decision back in 1995
and even today it is her decision when Roxette starts again....
Per once told, he is only waiting for her to say that she is ready to work with Roxette again...
but well...blame him for being honest
Parre said on September 26, 2003 14:06:
@ denstandigaresan @ master-piggy
maybe we all “blame” per coz he is the person who will read this
do you think marie will go online and read what we are talking about
so everyone is talking to per, even if its something negative
guess if we tell it emi or someone else nobody would be interested, so its again per
i have nothing against, not in my whole life, but whom shall i tell it??
StillFar said on September 26, 2003 14:27:
I do have an interview of Per (during Tourism times), in which he mentioned that Tourism is not a greatest hits, he hates when artists release one greatest hits after the other just to cash in on fans, without bringing out good new material...ooh well, who cares about the things we said in the past ;)
flower said on September 26, 2003 14:31:
You can’t blame him for not bringing out good new material, that’s for sure. The whole of Sweden was Mazarin-minded last summer. But I do smell a contradiction according to that Tourism-interview and real-life...
gyllene_tjej said on September 26, 2003 14:41:
It’s EMI who’s to blame and it is this stupid company that is behind all such short sighted decisions. I also think it is unfair to blame Per directly.
Liesebieke said on September 26, 2003 14:42:
Of course Roxette is not at the end: the day it will be finished is that day that this message is officially confirmed!
To the few who keep whining about still unreleased DVD’s which are not worth the money etc. :
Listen carefully: be happy you are not living in some Asian or African countries and you can at least afford a radio to listen to your idols! Moreover there are places where western music is forbidden to listen to. BE HAPPY you’re not living in those places and stop whining about “not having enough money to buy your maybe 1000th Roxette item!” ... PLEASE!
Jud (moderator) said on September 26, 2003 16:08:
who made Per responsible for that? At least when I speak, I speak about THEY meaning Per + Marie + Emi and whoever else is responsible for their great releases.
But now I understand the “another day another $” more than ever.
roxonthemoon said on September 26, 2003 16:44:
Hey come on ppl, no one MUST buy this “updated” stuff!
camillarox said on September 26, 2003 17:04:
ah yeah we are all stupid: we forgot that Per is untoucheable and a creature above us who does everything perfect!!
Oh cmon.. come down to real life!! It sounds ridiculous!
gyllene_tjej said on September 26, 2003 17:15:
something inside me tells me that Gessle has to just grin and bear it - walk around saying it’s a damn good idea with the DVD, while it is EMIs decision - we all know their somewhat poor financial state...and well, they grab every chance they get to make money on such band like roxette - who have meant sth to wide range of people and their name still does ring a bell.
Otherwise one can come to conclusion that there will be NO MORE Roxettes videos around - since Per wants to have ALL his videos in one place.
ally77 said on September 26, 2003 17:16:
@ roxonthemoon... Thanx for the advice but no thanx I WILL BUY IT! I WANT TO ADD IT TO MY ROXETTE COLLECTION WHAT HAS PLAYED A BIG PART OF MY LIFE FOR THE PAST 12 YEARS!
Jesus all these people who keep going on about being ripped off can I make a BIG suggestion!
1) Walk in your house to where you keen your Roxette collection!!
2) Take out a single “The Look” whichever... now take a good look at that one you picked up!
3) Have good look through rest of collection, CD’s Tapes, Vinyl and count how many bloody copies you have of the one single! How many? more than 3 or 4 and why? because they came from different countries are on different formats! of course you have got to have the CD single, the 7” the 12” the limted edition from wherever! IT IS PART OF BEING A FAN!
4) Now just go through your own stuff and count how many copies you have of CD singles, albums etc... and then sit back and ask yourself if you do not agree on buying this UPDATED DVD, what posessed you in the first place to buy several copies of one 7”, 12” CD single... because your a fan, it is what we do!
So please enough of the moaning and groaning about the new UPDATED DVD... I for one am looking forward to it, something to add to my collection!
A new album is not possible at present you know in case some of you forgot Marie got sick and is taking some time out to recover and get well,
You know I have to say some of the comments on here about Roxette releasing stuff are really rude, some of you do not seem to give a shit about Marie, you just want her back in the recording studio making songs for you, your piggin selfish when you think like that!
Personally Per, (if your reading) I don’t care for new Roxette stuff, if it happens I will be very pleased but as far as I am concerned Marie is the one to make the final move and she will enter the studio again when she is good or ready! Be if it takes 2 years or 10 I am not bothered....
StillFar said on September 26, 2003 17:57:
ally, I don’t see many people asking for new material...read the comments again. What people have a problem with is releasing the same material over and over again...sorry, but they are right! Not only are the ripping the fans off, I think it also makes them look really really cheap! (although, an updated version of a dvd is some kind of exception)
Denstandigaresan said on September 26, 2003 18:30:
I doubt very much Per’ll read this!
Oh and yay, not dying! YAY! Just got bad chest infection. Phew!
*You can put away the party balloons now!*
PiterPam said on September 26, 2003 19:21:
TBH, TPH and the updated-DVD are just moneymakers for emi. It´s a failure to release two Greatest hits and two DVD in such a small time.
And i hope roxette will release a complete new album in 2005-2006 that will be perfect (like Per wish it). And the break is in my opinion a good step for Roxette´s future.

Jud (moderator) said on September 26, 2003 20:12:
Ally: some fans do not buy a copy 10 times just because it’s been released in different countries. Some fans just wanna enjoy *new* stuff of their fave artist.
If I look at my collection the only repeated singles I see are the ones my girlfriend and I had before we put our collections together, so now we have some 2x..., some of them she misssed and I had.. and other way round ;)
It’s like an author would release a book, then the same with 2 draft chapters, then the same with corrected stuff :S
wendy said on September 26, 2003 20:13:
Hey,c’mon, what if they stop??? Should we be angry?? Do we have the right to be so?? :O
I don’t think so....Didn’t Roxette made years and years long great music?? Music we could dance on,music we shared with the ones we love, music that helped us out when we were sad, music that made us happy,........
Marie and Per are older now, they have a family, kids,i think it’s more then normal if they want a normal life, they need a rest, just like we,we take some days of from work also, just, there’s a difference, famous people have never a day off, they will always be recognised by someone when they go shopping, when they go out,....
Look, they’ll stop someday, now,or in 10 years, but, there music will always live on,and with that,Per and Marie will always be remembered, they won’t ever be really gone!!!!
We don’t have the right to complain, not at all,we just let them know whatever they do,we stand behind them and wish them good luck :) Just that :)
gyllene_tjej said on September 26, 2003 20:15:
I tend to disagree a bit about TBH and TPH. Okej, I admit, I was one of those suspicious ones about the releases at the beginning too, but then I got really happy. I mean, we got quite many new songs there including bonus EP, cool design, new pix etc. :) Recently I bought the same set - just special Taiwanese edition and i must say it looks and feels nice - like a nice highlight to close 89-2003 Roxette era. :)
But when it comes to DVD I am sure I will invest my money in all that has to do with Per’s future - DVD possible GT reunion, then the to-come Marie’s album...FIRST...forget the Rox DVD!

As for the rereleased/updated—didn’t buy the first one, but I’m glad to have the opportunity to have a more complete collection should I be fortunate enough to get it. (And incidentally, “All the Videos Ever Made” was a title destined of obselecence when it was released how may years ago?)
Those who don’t like it, save your money and wait for the new stuff. Quit whining about what you’ve got or are being “forced” to buy again, because you don’t have to buy it agin if you don’t want to. And remember not everyone has it in the first place.
There’s a great yiddish phrase that translates as “smell your share and go home.”
As ally said, buying the same thing over and over is part and parcel of being a fan—a fanatic. It’s what separates the day-trippers from the townies.
And stop screaming about the money, whomever’s pocketing it. If it wasn’t worth something, we wouldn’t have it in the first place.
Be glad of what you have. Isn’t your word a better palce for it?
Just think, if Roxette didn’t exist, then you’d be obsessing in another fan-forum over someone else’s music.
Duran-Duran’s website address anyone?

“As ally said, buying the same thing over and over is part and parcel of being a fan—a fanatic. It’s what separates the day-trippers from the townies.”
NO, being a fan has nothing to do with buying the same thing over and over, that’s what separates the obsessed fans and people that became collectors as a hobbie (collecting records instead of stamps) from the “cold minded” fans.
—–
“Just think, if Roxette didn’t exist, then you’d be obsessing in another fan-forum over someone else’s music.”
Not at all, in my case at least... and I bet it’s other peoples case too.
I´m not a “Rox fan” because there’s an emptyness I need to fill... or an emotional failure I need to fix.
I just happen to like Rox music better than other bands, and they’re only musicians that drive my attention as persons. For the rest of the bands in the world, I just enjoy their music.... inform myself about them and that’s it. So no, I wouldn’t be obsessing in another fan-forum.
MiracleMan said on September 27, 2003 06:03:
@Ferdan—”cold minded”? I didn’t say that. Anywhere.
I didn’t mean to imply—if that’s what you got from my post—that there’s an emotional chasm that will only be filled with Roxette. I myself love a lot of other bands, and I’m certain everyone else in here is the same. I may listen to Roxette a lot as well, but, no, I don’t define myself solely on their music. Yes, I am a Rox Fan. Yes, I own every CD from Pearls to TPH, (Balades and Rarities, DBU—both the original and the US Edel editions—plus several singles.) There’s repetition there, but I still buy the releases. That was my point, and I think that was Ally’s point as well: if you love Roxette enough to buy the repeated material, the updated DVD is right up your alley. (No pun intended.)
I do think, however, if you’re in here debating, or lamenting, or applauding the latest news item, or discussing your favorite musicians, or replying to someone else’s postings about the band, there’s a level that goes beyond a casual liking. Otherwise we wouldn’t go past the news updates like we do with the other bands we enjoy.
Fan is short for fanatic. It’s not a bad thing. There’s no shame in it, and obsession isn’t always a negative word. Being able to commune with like-minded appreciators of Roxette is what’s so great about being able to participate in these discussions. It keeps us coming back into the forums. It’s the only one I take part in, actually.
Hypothetically ridiculous as that prospect may seem, if you didn’t have Roxette, someone else would be the top dog of your musical likings, and I think, yes, you would be in another forum. Someone’s gonna move your soul. Someone’s gonna get you interested in the minutia of their career. Again, no judgement there, just an observation.
If Roxette does that for you, hey! I’m right there too. I’ll still take this forum any day.
And my glib swipe at the end was meant to illustrate the point of the previous line “Be glad of what you have. Isn’t your word a better palce for it?”
I think you’ve answered that with a “yes”.
Jud (moderator) said on September 27, 2003 07:13:
of course we all love Roxette’s music, that’s why we are here, and what I want is NEW stuff, and not just stupid updates to “feed the fan’s hunger” for a while more. Why not add some more bonuses in this dvd? why can’t they add the look sharp live - which isn’t so long and would be nice to have it in great quality? Why not include some tracks from the unplugged? Well, I guess the answer is that somewhen we will get yet another DVD with all those lives and after 2005 another DVD with the updated videos... it’s like, imagine Robert would publish another book now with the Gessle discography update, another next year after GT + Marie, another in 2005 after Roxette, it would be quite stupid eh??
Of course they also have to update the cover AND the menu design - including spelling ;)
Thank god the other bands I like don’t come up with such stuff to “fill in the gap”. Unfortunately the one I would like to have remastered and rare songs from - Eva Dahlgren - doesn’t release such stuff!!
wendy said on September 27, 2003 09:06:

I can’t understand how you all can complain,Marie’s very sick,we can’t expect a whole new album,we just can’t ask that!!! We gotta be happy that they don’t forget us,even if it’s just 2 new song on the same DVD,they didn’t forget us........
Jud (moderator) said on September 27, 2003 14:21:
yeah right, who is asking for a new album??? Including some old material in a dvd such as look sharp live, liveism or unplugged doesn’t imply Marie at all but just some guys to edit the films :S
ally77 said on September 27, 2003 15:05:

DaminehGessle said on September 27, 2003 20:26:
I just have one thing to say:
This is what most bands do. For example Queen which I am a great fan of. They have been releasing re-mastered albums and DVDs one after another this past year. They need to. Queen’s music will always live on for their fans but they need something to keep them there. ROxette too... If they are not recording anything at this moment, they need something to get going. PErsonally, I don’t care if they do another album, I will always remember Roxette for what they brought to my life when I was a teen. Right now, it ’s all about having all their albums. And no ally I do not have 3 copies of each because I live in Canada and not Europe!
And to those who want Marie back: It seems like you have never had anyone in your family with cancer. My grandma had cancer and died of it. Those who stay alive, need time to recover. Stop being selfish. She is a human being with a bad illness. It takes time to recover. How dumb must you be!
LaMan said on September 27, 2003 22:37:
maybe we all should e-mail EMI and / or Per requesting for a new Roxette album in 2004.
Jud (moderator) said on September 28, 2003 07:54:
I will say it once again: Queen (abba, Beatles, Elvis and so on) are a DEAD BAND, they don’t exist anymore, even some of their members are dead!! Releasing such stuff is the ONLY way to sell as there will never be anything new again (except for those “appeared” rare songs every now + then)...
Roxette IS still ALIVE, even if taking a long break now - they did that before. What will it be like when they decide to split up definetely? Release a re-edition every month or???
I don’t want a new Rox album, neither in 2004 nor in 2005 until Marie WANTS to do it. I just want something else for the fans who have been there since 89 (or earlier) and thanks to them they have reached so far. Just something more than just 2 videos :)
DaminehGessle said on September 30, 2003 05:55:
Yes Judith but when they are unable to record now, they are unable!!! We can’t push it. Noone can. Sometimes health is more important that money?!?!?
Santi said on September 30, 2003 07:28:
I don’t think it’s a matter of recording anything. If they wanted to release something unreleased, there are things lying around. There are videos recorded from concerts and there are a lot of out-takes (Remember all those songs released as “bonus CD”?... well, I’m sure there are more like those...).
If they wanted to, they could release a real “Rarities” record (cuz the one they have it’s rare just because it was only released in certain “rare” countries, cuz the songs it includes are not so rare...), there’s no need to cheat the listeners just 1 year after that Greatest Hits trick they played on the fans...
Just my opinion...
Signed:
Someone who’ll buy the DVD. (cuz he didn’t buy the previous :D)
Jud (moderator) said on September 30, 2003 08:25:
Again, who said they should work on something new? I am not pushing them to record anything at all, for me they can stay 5 years without recording anything new at all, as long as Marie doesn’t feel to record with Roxette, it is fine with me, I have always prefered her solo or GT, so no problem, but they can’t be these 5 years releasing old stuff over and over again in different shapes (cd, updated dvd, whatever they wanna do), simply because both fans and non-fans (so ppl who just like their music and have some of their albums) will get tired of it.
A friend of mine likes Roxette - she just has the released CDs, some videos + that’s all. SHe bought TBH and when TPH came out she said she could put that CD together herself instead of spending 15€ on it (and she doesn’t mind about 4 new songs or not, she is not that “in need” of new stuff). And this will happen to the most. THere is not enough new fans as to buy another million albums, firstly cuz they are not promoted enough and secondly, cuz the “new generation of fans” won’t like Roxette at all. So the only they can live from is “old generation” (ppl who r 20-30 years old now), and I doubt each of them will want to have 10 million times the same song home ;)
As Santi says, there is stuff laying around that could be remastered, digitalized, stuff we don’t even know about, the only work behind it is put it together, have somebody to edit it and put it in a cd, sb to make a cover and that’s all. It would still be something *new* and they wouldn’t have had to move a finger at all.
Or simply wait until they can record something new, whenever it is.
Tafferal said on October 7, 2003 12:21:

@ YellowTigger:
Why do you think this?
Is it because Per is devoting his current efforts into his solo Swedish work? From an historical point of reference this is not the first time he has done this and then returned to Rox albums.
Or do you think this because Marie is currently recovering from her illness?
I don’t see anything that leads to me think this is the end of Rox? They have previously had a break of 5 years before returning back to Rox recordings.
Please explain your reasoning to us.
