“SENSATIONAL GESSLE

Nobody doubts that Per Gessle knows popmusic, even though roxette stopped sounding interessting a quite long time ago. If they ever started to. Gessles solo is something quite diffrent and has actually always been. Those who remembers his swedish solorecords remembers a fumbling and thoughtful, yet “slagfärdig” (dunno the english word) young man.
Gyllene Tiders frisky “popkonster” are pretty far away.

Sensationally enough he sounds even better today. On Mazarin Gessle delivers 14 tracks, wich can be summed up to something as basic as radiopop. But it’s a hard form of art, lightyears more difficult then making a honoured rockrecord, wich he once again shows that he can handle as easy as anything.
Suddenly Gessle writes relevant texts agian, suddenly he feels personal and suddenly he finds the obvious melodies –without choosing the most simple solutions. It’s a great production and nice arranged, but it’s mostly about hits, wich can’t be shaken off.

“Här Kommer Alla Känslorna” is the most swedishsmelling song in years and days. “På Promenad Genom Stan” is an amasing ballad in style with ”Flickan I En Cole-Porter Sång”. ”Gungar” is an acoustic popparty that GES would kill for. ”Födelsedag” is a powerpop-presentation where Gessle reminds us that he can sing rock. “Spegelboll” is a “blondifierad” (dunno how to translate that!!) Kent-disco while the strongest moment of the record –the lovesong “Tycker Om När Du Tar På Mig”- is classic...Gessle.

The guy is actually so unique that his lastname is the same thing as a sound.”

TYLÖSAND
The first swedish record in 18 years. Per Gessle feels that the fans wants his music but if there will be a summertour or not is still not sure.
-we’re gonna talk it trough but some important people are busy, says Per minutes after the first “gig” in Tylösand.

Everybody has been wondering if the tour is still unsure. Mostly it depends on that the musicians who he’s playing with are booked.
-we have “logistikproblem” (*dunno the english word. Some kind of problems!!*) but we’ll see, says Per who obviously wants to make more gigs after his gig in his own night club Leifs Lounge in Tylösand.
Everything has gone so fast. A month ago Per was mixng Mazarin and now plays live on a little clubstage.
-It’s such a diffrent compared to internationell musicindustri. It’s like being 18 again and making your first record again. The circle is closed.

Do you prefer this way of working?
-I prefer both ways but of course it’s fun when it goes fast. Fans from all over the world, among others Mexico, Hungary and Romania, had travelled to Tylösand to see their idol.
-I want to give all the roses in the world to our fans. An unannounced bus from Germany with 80 people came and of course we let them in, tells Per

Old and new
Per didn’t only play tracks from the new record during the hour that he played. There were time for two Gyllene Tider songs –Kung Av Sand and Vi Vill Ha Ett Svar.
Not only fans and friends were on the premier. Among the guests was the comedian Thomas Petersson with his wife Rita, Björn Ulveaus with his wife Lena, the producer Cristoffer Lundqvist, the Gyllene Tider-buddys Micke Andersson and Mats Petersson, Kristian Luuk an ABBA-Frida.”
