boykie19 said on June 8, 2003 15:32:
after listenin 2 new clips of pers solo songs... y is it that both per an marie solo songs r actually better than roxette songs!?!? i can really understand y ppl luv these solo albums.. they sound much better than roxette ones... its actually quite unfair lol ;(
boykie19 said on June 8, 2003 16:11:
i dont mind if they carry on with their solo stuff.. but maybe an eng album would be cool hehe ;)
Jud (moderator) said on June 8, 2003 16:27:
i wouldn’t mind so much.. I prefer their swedish solo stuff (I have always done) so I wouldn’t mind at all to get a new PG/ GT / MF solo album every now and then!!! :D

yea i can understand the feeling. Per and Marie are busy with their solo work that it seems roxette is forgotten for the time being. i have allways felt that roxette has not gotten what they real deserve through the yrs but that can be blamed on the medie.and radio stations all over the world its really a shame. roxette could have been super mega stars but who knows maybe they didnt want to. they have their own lifes with familys now .i do hope that they will come back for a few more albums but age gets to us all in the end but i wish them the best of luck and i will allways support them
cskendras said on June 8, 2003 16:34:
i think Roxette is a project with two superstars! and Per and Marie would be quite stupid if they didn’t go on making music in English language as Roxette! The good old days when they sold way over 10 mio. albums belong to past, no question. but they constantly sell 2 mio albums of each new record...and they have fun together with roxette! so why quitting roxette?! :-) Per always wants the latest Ferraris *lol* a quite expensive hobby...
marcusvandeursen said on June 9, 2003 02:19:
well, seems indeed (and i’m quite happy with this as well) that there won’t be much of Roxette this (and next year)... Although I love their latest albums ’ROOM SERVICE’ and ’HAVE A NICE DAY’ much better than the older one, I started to prefer P&M’s solo stuff as well, only hope they do will make a few more albums together, but ’being more themselves’ as they do with their Swedish stuff... combine such songs as ’Tro’, ’Här kommer alla känslorna’, ’Det jag verkligen ville’, ’New World’, ’Stupid’ and release them in englisha s Roxette. But hey, the future will tell...
Hotblooded said on June 9, 2003 04:48:
Per & Marie’s solo stuff is so much more deeper than the Roxette stuff and really unless they do something totally different, special, unique for Roxette in the future then I really don’t care if there isn’t a new Roxette album. I’d be happy as long as they are doing quality material whether it’s solo or with Roxette.
I don’t care for another HAND or RS those songs don’t do all that much for me anymore.
bobi said on June 9, 2003 05:31:
I don’t know about the rest of you guys, but I loved the last few records from Roxette, especially HAND and RS! I hope for another album in the future and I wish that Per would record another english solo album. I love his new single, its very catchy, but alas, I do not understand swedish, I read the translated lyrics and loved them!
I await new songs because Roxette livens up the blah pop/happy music that exists here in North America. There is so little originality here, when Per describes a relationship it is poetic, when pop band A describes it, the word Baby appears 50 times! yuck!
I always seem to turn back to an old favourite—Roxette.
If the Stones can go do solo projects and constantly get back together, why can’t Roxette? Or at least more solo english Per stuff! :P

Hej
I would miss Roxette A LOT... c’mon !! I agree that P&M’s solo works are best and more grown up, but Roxette has the most magical thing in the world that is the mix of Per and Marie talents. It’s the strongest thing about Roxette.
What they should do, in my humble opinion, is to do songs that are less comercial and have more (their) feelings. They both know how to do it... so do it !! :)
I still dream with a Roxette album so strong as their solo works !! And this day will come !! :)
All the best

It would be great if Per and Marie brought more of their solo works spirit into Roxette albums. I think CBB was the last album where musically they managed to make the most out of the combination of their talents.
Stormkeeper said on June 9, 2003 15:40:
-Roxette is for making money.
-Solo stuff is what they want to do.
There´s a difference :(

it would be so great if Per would record his new album in english for all his non-swedish speaking fans..........i love his new song..........
the ballads we translated into spanish why not swedish into english?
sorry to all you Swedes, I just wish I could experience Per’s music too.

I love Roxette’s music!!! why are u critizicing it that much?????? I don’t agree that Roxette’s material is just meant to make money, they are one of the few bands that make original music with original-creative melodies......stop putting them down......I would really like to hear Roxette new material....... I won’t be satisfied with just listening to their solo stuff........english songs have a special beauty......english speaking fans like me enjoy them more than swedish versions......
I would like to listen to their swedish material, but it is difficult to find I think.......where in the web can I find it???
Grizabella said on June 13, 2003 10:44:
@darkblade: u can find some swedish material in www.roxservice.com (in discography section). you can download marie solo’s songs and per’s ones.
I agree with darkblade: i love roxette songs. It’s true they are more comercial than they solo stuff, but, what’s wrong with loving comercial music? I think it doesn’t mean they are not good songs.
I love also they solo stuff, and hope it would be released outside sweden... non-swedish fans have also the right to get this material!!!! :P (i’d love marie’s albums were released in spain... )
harriej said on June 14, 2003 22:35:
I really hope Roxette is coming with a new album.
I like the solo-stuff very much, bu Roxette as a combination of Per and Marie is the best there is!!
kanderezabi said on June 15, 2003 08:38:
I hope that there will new Roxette album soon! Per’s songs sound like Eurovision to me...
sundance_kid said on June 15, 2003 18:49:
Roxette has made six studio albums, i’m quite plesed with that.
Jackie_Radiorox said on June 15, 2003 19:39:
If they break up they break up... They’ve had a nice run. And honestly, they should od whatever feels good to them.. Roxette has been trying so hard to sound commerical I personally think they lost their roots and their drive.
If they want to split, go for it. I think their solo material is awesome.
Also, people understand that cancer is not something that you get out of bed the next day like “Wow!!” I know of some of my patients that took up to 2-3 years to re-coop. And that is fine... To me Marie’s health is much more important that Roxette’s existance.
Stormkeeper said on June 17, 2003 06:04:
fu*k their solo-material!!!!! Too boring stuff.
I don´t want Roxette to split up.
steve said on June 17, 2003 07:01:
I think I have to agree here, they’ve had a wonderful career as Roxette and true, the last couple of albums were not as successful as the first ones, but does any artist really have an equally successful career from the beginning til the end?
Roxette doesn’t have what the general public wants anymore. The general public needs bright young new stars,or at least someone who can bring something new, and let’s face it, Roxette doesn’t really bring anything new anymore.
Don’t get me wrong, i’ve been a fan since The Look and ever since, but they should’ve stuck to their roots basically. And I’d also say that their early hits up to the Tourism album are few-in-a-decade sing-along music tunes, the ones everybody knows and no one ever forgets. And Roxette should be very lucky they’ve got several of those!
But, changing over into bubblegum icecream and balloons pop wasn’t really their best move. For instance, take I Don’t Want To Get Hurt, one of my absolute favourite Roxette songs, it’s got a non-rock style going on, for this song it seems to work, but I’m 200 % sure this song would’ve been a smash in a more rock guitar tempo. I’m not saying they should’ve turned it into a second It Must Have Been Love, but listen to Things Will Never Be The Same, it’s also very different and yet, still rock.
Look what they did with Crush On You from the Have A Nice Day album, back to basics, and I love that song.
Okay, they’ve still got good songs nowadays, and maybe that’s just the fan in me speaking, but the Real Sugars, Milk&Toast&Honeys don’t give me the I’m-gonna-play-this-one-a-thousand-times buzz anymore.
And in a way, I’m glad they won’t be releaseing any new material in the nearest future, cos as a fan, I think it would be dangerous to see similar songs get released. I like A Thing About You and especially Opportunity Nox (this one was a nice surprise for me) but a complete album in this style, been there done that I think (Room Service).
I think it was a safe bet re-releasing the old material on TBH and TPH, nice remastering, cool booklets, and I play them way more often than I used to play Room Service.
Do a come back in some time, and make it rox again.

Yesterday I played Tourism in my cd, not all the song, only few and, obviously, nothing is the same. Listening to Here comes the weekend, So far away or Fingertips I realized perfectly that they should take a deep break, get inspiration and begin again, with new air. The same happened with U2, and they broke trough with Achtung Baby, the re-born of the band. Songs like Salvation or M&T&H are not for me, let me cold.
Everybody says that Gessle alone is much better than Roxette (I think that Per never thought in such a wonderful reviews with Mazarin) , and the reviews always says that Marie, playing in Roxette, is underrated, that she is much a more talented artist. And now I´m agree with it.
In my opinion, just my opinion, they should stop, take breath and begin again. Show the world that they are as talented as in the beginnings, and that they can release better songs than Bla bla bla or Make my head go pop.
Rearange and make roxette shine again, as they deserves.
harriej said on June 17, 2003 21:49:
Hey guys,
Don’t be so negative about Roxette!
Of course, the last Cd’s were maybe not so perfect as the first ones, but it still were great albums!
I admit that HAND was even quite bad, but room Service was going in the right direction again.
So I really think Roxette should not quit.
They are too good to stop.
I also like the solo-work of Per (was at the release-party, really great performance), but that doesn’t mean that I don’t want any Roxette anymore.
Roxette Forever!!!
steve said on June 18, 2003 08:47:
Oh no, don’t get it wrong, it’s not that it’s a Roxette should stop thing, just that they need to take a break first, do their own thing first, getting some fresh ideas and come back after much anticipation of the fans.
I just think because you’re a huge fan it doesn’t mean you have to like everything they do. And that’s not a disgrace, and I think it’s more of a motivation towards Per and Marie to do even better on the next one, cos if there’s only one person who’s not completely persuaded, I think they’ll put in even more effort to make it sound right. They care about their fans, I’m pretty sure.
I read a lot that their solo work is actually better than the Roxette oeuvre. I actually wouldn’t know cos their solo albums are not available in Belgium, of course there’s the internet, but hey, I never really got down to do that. But still, I’m very curious.

i don’t wanna be the one panicking, but it sems to me there wont be to much roxette comin up in the future...
they both seem very happy with what they’re doing solo and per didnt answer to enthusiastically about a possible new rox-album.
surprisingly i don’t mind at all...
as long as they’re both healthy and happy and being friends and doing good music, everything’s fine for me!
