So different with the others Roxette cds, greats tracks like Surrender, From one heart to another, Secrets that she keeps, ....makes that album simply wonderful.
Go on supporting Roxette.

Actually, for the longest time, I thought it sounded quite dated, like an 80ss cross between Animotion and Eurythmics, but in a good way. I just listened to it again recently, first time in a long time, and it holds up better than you might expect. Yes, very 80s, and poppy, but a bit of experimentation and much variety. Quite a few great songs as well.
Just wondering why they decided to put “Soul Deep” on the “Joyride” CD too?? It works on both, but the timing was quite odd...mine has the excellent bonus tracks as well!!! 20 tracks total.
And being these songs were originally recorded in Swedish for Per’s then-third solo album, are there demos or original album versions of these songs?? Not counting the bonus demos...

I was never into it - it sounds so week and dated (I have the bonus re-issue). Also, some of the demos like ’secrets that she keeps’ and ’I call your name’ Have much more ’punch’ than the finished versions. Overall, I feel it is still a worthwhile item for completists, as it lets you hear a progression.
LS is a vastly improved album, in terms of the way the songs are written, the way the band plays (JI’s guitar, which is always the greatest) fits so well in terms of sound. Also, Marie’s voice is really sharp and clear.
In saying that, I think there are glimses of good stuff on POP, like soul deep and IMHBL. I may be wrong, but the Joyride Soul Deep I reckon sounds much funkier and better in the context of the record.

here in austria and germany we would call the sound of this album SCHLAGER which means nothing too good – cheap, soft melodies made for elder people. i don’t like pearls of passion as you can read above ;)
