Thought about MTV Unplugged

Just a thought - it seems EMI/Roxette don’t have the rights to release the MTV Unplugged show, (as Per mentioned a while back somewhere) and thats the reason EMI can’t/won’t release it.

Could it be that whatever was recorded for/by MTV now belongs to them, and therefore it’s up to MTV if they want to release Rox unplugged?

Maybe MTV is the one to ask??

As far as I understood it by asking Per, he said that EMI can release it if they wish, but since MTV owns the rights EMI will have to pay MTV very much for it. And it also seemed that EMI would have to pay more the more CDs that were sold...

I must’ve missed that bit, but it makes more sense. Also it seems everyone else that has released MTV unplugged has done it on their own record company.

Oh well, back to dreaming about it :)

Some years ago I saw the MTVUnplugged CD in a megastore of Bilbao (Spain)... I couldn´t believe it. The next day I went to buy it, it had dissapeared... The cover was green with the same kind of letters as joyride (no picture on the cover)

Who released? Who knows?

Maybe it was a bootleg? A lot of that out there these days, so who knows.

i have uploaded most of it on kazaa, all the stuff off the Uncensored and Uncut bootleg. Its high quality, knock yourself out.
Just don’t tell Per incase his goldfish weighs 200 Kilos, has teeth and is Hungry

thats was a bootleg you saw...mtv gets a royalty on all the unplugged albums they release...as far as I heard emi wouldn’t agree to the price and royalty fee MTV wanted so for now it ain’t coming out

in which case they should do a storytellers series with vh1 and put that on cd it would be so much more interesting

Don’you guys think, U&U is _TOO_ fast, no????
Or you don’t care?

Storytellers. Great idea!

I don’t think it is too fast. I saw the whole thing on TV and bought the CD just a few months later and I think it’s just right.

why would anyone buy the mtv unplugged album if it were released? cus its only got the old songs.. an there we go again with the release of joyride, the look,it must of been love... ppl will start 2 think roxette really r tryna make money!

there r bootlegs,mp3s,videos out there.. just be happy with that :)

indeed boykie

the bootleg for this unplugged session has been around since the day MTV aired it.
I got mine a few months later. It was an Italian import (aren’t they all) called “acoustic 1993”.
released by Live storm n°lscd 51241.
Nowhere is MTV mentioned, not on the cd, nor the artwork. It’s the same 12 song setlist as aired on MTV, including covers of Young & Reed.
I was convinced that it was the MTV-show when I heared the “there’s no time for a real”-slipup.

Damned.

Take a walk through memory-lane and I’ll see you there.
Z.

Who would want an MTV Unplugged album? I guess just the fans. But personally, I would want it for better sound quality. The files that I’ve downloaded are good but not excellent quality. I think it would be appropriate for a future box set release.
