Of course it is your right to delete some threads, since you are running the website.
But maybe it would have been handy to tell your plans to remove certain threads (so that people understand it better) than just to delete them and come with an explanation afterwards.

I don’t know if they are really unrecoverable, but otherwise you could maybe make a forum “controversial”, for these topics and put the deleted threads in there.
There was enough response from the Roxette-fans to these threads, so it looks like there is a need for it.
