well most of us are much more than just fans in that normal way ... we feel sometimes like we would be in roxette’s music business as well as themselves - we don’t love their music alone — it’s the whole project called ROXETTE and that’s why we are discussing things for x times and are concerned about R’s future. let’s call it: UPPER FAN BASE (c;

i think the only real thing that would kill me as a fan is if they stopped without an explanation...just left us hanging...i worry that something liek that is coming

Reason #2: What on earth do you mean? Or is it that you don’t mean anything at all, again? Had just stand out somehow...anyhow?

I’m still a big fan, the only fact where I’m starting to ask myself some questions is the producing of some recent songs. Stars, COY, MMHGP, don’t know why they do that. Maybe it’s easier than making some nice guitararrangements. I also think ON is a bit overproduced. RS had a lot of good songs that made up for some HAND beats. Hooray for Rox

What a strange thread to put on a Roxette fan forum??? or is it me!!
Surely if you where not a Roxette fan you would not be hanging around this thread speaking to people about Roxette etc...
I have been a fan sinice 91 and was crazy about Per and Marie. I am still a big fan today although not 100% obsessed as I was when I was a stroppy teen!!
Roxette will always have that special place in my heart xxxx
GTiG said on March 11, 2003 20:50:
Ofcourse we all here are fans. I don’t think that was the question to begin with. I think the question was like:
You are a fan now, but if you for some reason would stop beeing a fan, what would that reason be?
I for one can’t think of anything that would make me stop beeing a roxfan... I think I will always keep Roxette and related in a very special place in my heart. But when the day comes when Roxette don’t exist anymore, I suppose I won’t be that active fan anymore. I will always love the music, but not always let it be that big part of my life as it is today. Other reason than that I can’t think of.
There are NOTHING Per or Marie can do or say that’s gonna make me stop beeing a fan...

What’s the point in doing all of that?

Hi
I think that some people here don’t seem to get that there’s a diference between “To Complain About Something” and “Stop liking Roxette”.
See, I LOVE Roxette with all my heart, but when they do something that I don’t like I just say: “It sucks” !! Period !! But with soooooo many good songs all over these years, one or two mistakes won’t make me dislike them !!
But to be honest... “Have A Nice Day” was a disaster... I know at least 2 “die hard fans” that don’t like Roxette anymore because those dance beats... and I think they’re right in some levels... “Have A Nice Day” was the worst thing I ever heard (The Teletubbies theme song is better than most of the songs on that album :)
But I still LOVE their music !!
Rox Forever
All the best

I’m curious to know what they think of “Pearls Of Passion” then or even songs from “Look Sharp!” If “dance beats” are the reason for not liking Roxette, I find it quite funny.
As for “dance beats” on HAND, how many are there really?
Crush On You
7Twenty7
Stars
Staring At The Ground (as Per says, he could dance to this if he had a few drinks)
Am I missing something? The only real “dance” song on HAND, in my opinion, is “Stars.” The others are more pop than anything else.
Perhaps “dance beats” is the wrong phrase. Maybe they don’t like Roxette anymore because HAND had less guitars and “rock” sound as heard on C!B!B!?
roxtexanet said on March 12, 2003 04:34:
@Mfan: Once again, Jason, you took the words right out of my mouth. Honestly, the only album that DOESN’T have a song with dance beats on it is the sacred “Crash! Boom! Bang!” (and even then I’d argue that “I Love The Sound of Crashing Guitars” is surprisingly danceable (: )!
Ferdan said on March 12, 2003 05:05:
i don’t think it’s only the dance beats... it’s the electronic sound, overall.....
LS had it too, but it sounded more natural i think.
LoneGunman said on March 12, 2003 06:00:
Hi
As Ferdan said... it’s more the eletronic sound... no real drums, no guitars, synhts, those noises, loops, etc... Ánd honest, that sucks !!!
My mistake using the “Dance” word !!

I still like Rox, however, I’ve fallen out of the contant need to know what is going on and constant need to hear Rox pretty much because of the fans. Too bad if this offends anyone, but some of the fans are lunatics and the worst I’ve ever seen. I used to run a fanclub during highschool for a S. American band (not sure how I got roped into this but it wasn’t fun) and their absolute worst fan would never compare.
Too many sick little details that I’ve learned to let Roxette have that magical meaning like it used ot have. What sucks, it isn’t even P and M’s fault. I’ve just now started getting sorta back into things but on my own terms.
harriej said on March 12, 2003 11:54:
That is not possible, even if they would stop making good music now (which would be the only reason why I might not be a fan anymore), I will always be a fan of Roxette based on what they have made until now.
Knowing Per Gessle, he will not suddenly write crappy music, so in the future the music will stay on a high level.
ROXETTE NOW AND FOREVER!!
ROX ON!!

I have to say that i don’t consider myself a Rox fan anymore. I realized that they are above my top artists. They will never been reached, they are in a new category, i don’t feel the way i used to with theirs songs, but i‘m 100% completely sure that i‘m coming every single day to see if there’s anything new about Roxette, Marie, or Per, gonna read this forum several times each day, buy all of the next coming albums, become the happiest when Marie returns with all her magic.
But, no, i don’t think i’m a Roxette fan, probably because i think, it’s my opinion, that the songs have lost power and they’re not intense anymore, only a few makes me feel something.
The opposite happens with Marie’s music, she gets better everytime, and the demos found a couples of months ago are superb! She showed she’s much better songwriter nowadays than Per, no0t saying he’s bad, only she is more compromised with what she does, that’s what i think.

I’ve been a roxette fan b’coz of their music back in their old songs and that was also the reason Why I became a diehard roxette fan when I bought their old albums Coz Found out that they are the only band that can make thoe pwerful sound tunes wether it was ballads or dance beat or pop rock .
And I guess the 1st reason there why their old fans are waning was b”coz of the knid of music that they make . I mean lets be honest. They are better when they are young now that they get mature they change their style to teenie synthy sounds no real giutar and upbeat drums thats all they need
well thats my opinion .

I think they’re working less and less. They’ve not worked at all releasing ON. The same guitar solo played in that ramones song! And the final part of the song is very repetitive. I prefer listening to the 30 sg snippet the roxette fanclub put on the net because it sounds less boring and repetitive. And it sounds a little bit dance or electronic.
Roxette is now trying to earn money without doing an effort at all. Why do you think they are selling TWO albums with ONLY these few new songs! And with the same solos!!!
I wonder how it will sound Little miss sorrow. Maybe it is the melody of The Big L. with the lyrics of The Look!

no reason i suppose. they are lovely people and I can’t simply imagine them disappointing me in any way. I love their music and I love them as people. as long as they go on as rox, solo, etc. I will be over the moon!

Because in the beginning and mid-90’s there wasn’t much one could listen to. There were a few left-over popbands/performers from 80’s and some clumsy dance and rap music. For me that era was filled with irritating noises, boring and ear-piercing melodies.
I think it is Roxette that first gave QUALITY pop-music to the world. Too simple for some, but sooooo positive and addictive :) They stood out with their original yet unsophisticated melodies, voices, PERFECT sound, silly (in a nice way ;) lyrics, optimism, looks.
Nowadays, it’s different. Both the music world and Roxette have changed. There are lots and lots of bands who peform quality pop-music, and they have almost everything that made Roxette so special - good voices, addictive melodies and the perfect, smooth sound. However - for me - they lack the magic of Roxette that I once found in the LS!, Joyride, Tourism and C!B!B!.
Why I’m not a fan anymore? Because I can not find much magic in the most recent Roxalbums. It is still there, in some songs (MATAH, Cooper, Breath), but at the same time there are quite a few songs I’d rather not heard at all- for example, COY, RS, ON. When I hear them on radio, I can not force myself to listen to them and I usually switch over. What worries me immensely is that it is very likely that they point to the direction that Roxette intends to follow in the future.
Oh, God .... maybe I’ve just got old at 21? :))

I will always be a roxette fan even if they begin to cover songs from Ace of Base(sic!). The songs helped me a lot. But it’s sad to see that after dbugtc was released per just writes new songs to fill another 2 best off samplers! Who the hell needs 3(!!) Greatest Hits Compilations?? Room Servive was a step in the right direction but albums like joyride, tourism. c!b!b! will never appear again. All in all i still love every new song, just to hear the sound of per’s catchy melodies in the refrain. I still wonder why she doesn’t live here anymore and june afternoon didn’t chart...great songs with real drums and guitars!! Hope to hear new stuff by GT soon! It’s the 25th anni. this year! Keep on Roxin!
deana said on March 18, 2003 10:19:
gyllene_tjej: just take any MTV European top, skip all the songs which could be classified as rap, r’n’b, rock, and what is left is mostly what I’d call quality pop-music of 90’s and 2000’s (the most recent “MTV topers” -Sugababes, Atomic Kitten, Darren Hayes, Westlife, Pink, Nick Carter etc. etc). Which, in fact, means nothing more than having a) simple, addictive melodies b) expensive sound created by the most modern technologies (enjoyable, though sometimes overproduced) c) good voices and/or image.
Roxette’s new songs do not really stand out in this company. And it’s less to do with the image of Roxette, rather than the fact, that the reglular listener doesn’t even notice the difference between new Roxette material and thousands of other pop-songs (is there any at all for non-fans?). The sound, music of Roxette (ATAY, MATAH) doesn’t seem so strikingly special anymore as it was in the beginning of 90’s. The recent Rox songs that really differed from current pop-trends and could draw attention to Roxette were Real Sugar and Opportunity Nox, but it’s probably not just me who found them annoying.
Heart_2002 said on March 18, 2003 17:28:
Don’t think that being 21 or older than that means that you’re too old to like Roxette. That is a bit meaningless thinking... it’s natural that the magic might have been gone due to many reasons ... and the music scene today stinks and almost overshadows Roxette’s music... but i believe that if you really have some special link to their music that makes it so special to you ..i am sure none of this comtemporary crap will bother or disturb you. It works for me and I’m 21 as well.... But its natural that you might not like them anymore it’s only a question og how really Roxette mean something to you right now... things in life are always changing... it’s natural as that...
