oh dear, ATAY began at 22 and ended up at 37. :-(
and such lousy airplay results...too bad!
about the swiss charts...yea, well, aren’t the fans always the first ones to get the single...only 87?! i mean, how many copies? 30?!
Th_Th said on March 11, 2003 12:14:
Isn’t that pretty good for Germany?? Considering that they do not get Airplay on a lot of Radio Stations and they do not get any promotion at all?
Or is it just the fans buying the Single at the moment?
Th_Th said on March 11, 2003 12:23:
Not bad for Switzerland though, considering it was on sales for just one day!
IV_ROX said on March 11, 2003 12:59:
And ON is New Entry(# 50) on=EUROPEAN TOP 50= where only 3 songs charted as new ones, and it was Westlife’s “Tonight” at #37 and B2K feat. P.Diddy- Bump, Bump, Bump- #46.
Hope ON will do better next week!
In = BORDER BREAKERS= chart ON climbs 6 places to #10.
Starrox said on March 11, 2003 13:03:
@@Th_Th: Yeah, probably just us fans... the first midweeks are always Top 40 and then it usually gets worse each day :-(
Th_Th said on March 11, 2003 13:20:
IV_ROX:
where can I actually view the european charts? and, is it based on the sales??
IV_ROX said on March 11, 2003 13:52:
@Th_th, You can view these charts in Music&Media magazine( at least this is my source). European Top 50 is based on airplay and Eurochart Hot 100 is based on sales[ ON is not there yet :( , let me have a second look but I doubt I’ll spot it ].
As for the M&M magazine I don’t know if you can find it on the market. I work in a radio and we have subscribed to have it weekly.
P.S. Hope that was satisfying:)
Th_Th said on March 11, 2003 14:07:
Oh, I see. That makes me sad, as I would have loved to receive such a magazine too! :-(
Does the German Music Market influence the European charts a lot?
IV_ROX said on March 11, 2003 14:18:
I guess so, because there are a lot of different radiostations there. But every single play addition around the continent is important as long as it is reported to Music&Media:)
Th_Th said on March 11, 2003 14:22:
IV_ROX:
what kind of a job do you have at the Radio Station?
Another Question: who is the one that decides what music is getting played at a Radio station? ;-)
room-service said on March 11, 2003 15:11:
@Gellner: Again thanks for the infos :)
#39 is not as bad as I expected, but we know that ATAY 1st midweek was #22 and the final position was #37 (animalkingdom already mentioned this), I think it won’t get into the Top 60.
only one day on sale in swiss??? I thought ON was released on the 24th of february in swiss and the newest charts are including the sales from the 24th up to the 29th of febuary - so ON got a full week for this #87 position - or am I wrong? don’t think so ;)
Gellner said on March 12, 2003 11:39:
@ room-service:
well you seem to be a bit more up to date than me regarding switzerland.... (I just had a week off and assumed it would be after 1 day only....) anyway the bad news is that I do already have new Swiss charts that look even worse:
Switzerland:
98 ( 87) Roxette – Opportunity Nox EMI 55 1897 2
German midweek today:
62 ( 39) 9,67% OPPORTUNITY NOX ROXETTE CAP EMI
animalkingdom said on March 12, 2003 13:14:
Terrible! Who got the idea that Per couldn’t do any kind of promotion?! Please...That’s just waste of good work!
IV_ROX said on March 12, 2003 16:37:
@Th_th I am the “image voice” of the radio. I used to be a host once but now I do so many things altogether........but that’s a differen’t story:)
The one deciding what songs should be played is The Head Of Programming in general and the Head Of Music in particular. The first one is responsible for the formatting, you know like CHR, Hot AC, AC, Oldies, Rock, R’n’B......and once the right format is chosen there goes the Head Of Music selecting the songs that match the format. Ofcourse it is a very hard job to be the HOM because you have to sense the potential hits out and there’s a big responsibility lying on your shoulders.Well if it is not a major station it’s easier coz all you have to do is just follow the bigger ones. Viewing what’s on music TV is also important, especially for the Hot AC radios.
The radio I work for is a CHR one and unfortunately doesn’t play Roxette at all because it doesn’t play giutar based songs and ballads too. Only mainstream pop, house and R’n’B. And it’s one of the most popular radiostations in the city and there’s no Roxette:( .

@Gellner:
Do you know if the BALLAD HITS has reached Gold in Germany? Thanks!
Th_Th said on March 12, 2003 16:49:
IV_ROX: thanks for the info. I was always really keen to know that! Cheers for that! ;-)
ingo, I wold be sooo surprised if TBH have sold gold in GErmany! ;-)
Starrox said on March 12, 2003 17:21:
@Ingo: Don’t think so... at least there was no “gold-sign” in the last charts I saw with TBH! I doubt it reached gold after that... :-(

Regarding the “Gold Question” - I haven’t heard of any award, but will doubleckeck...
animalkingdom said on March 13, 2003 12:14:
Okay, I don’t think it really would matter if ON didn’t even chart in top-100 now...I mean #72 is absolutely nothing!
room-service said on March 14, 2003 14:54:
would be cool, if it was the same in the german airplaycharts :-/
