Can Roxette learn from other bands?

I sometimes wonder what went wrong in Roxette’s career and I think that it was the long break between Crash!Boom!Bang! and HAND... Don’t you think?
Then I wonder, how do other bands manage to stay at the top? Look at Bon Jovi, last year they released a live album, because the fans had asked for it. The members of the band all have families, but they still go on world tours... They don’t do a tour of which 75% of the concerts are in Germany! This year, A-ha is going to release a live album too (in March). Because the fans had been asking for it.
At least, these bands seem to listen to their fans. I always wonder who has the most power: the record company or the band? I guess it’s the record company, but shouldn’t it be the band?
Any other advice?

I think Roxette has been listening to their Fans A LOT actually! Keep in mind how we changed Love peas! Or Silver Blue was included on Tourism, because the fans wanted it on a CD.
Of course we want a Live Album, but I really think the receord comany doesn’t let Roxette do it, because it would only sell about 100.000 or 200.000 Copies worldwide...
I think a live Album only sells 10% of what the previous Studio Album did.
Roxette had been saying many times, they won’t bother about the US again, but sure, after the Fans complaining about that, Roxette is really trying again. And sure Roxette could say, “Flippen heck, the British Market is so weird and strange, let’s not be bothered to put our energy into the Brits anymore.” But sure they do it!
I think, the Fans are the ones that make it possible for a Band to publish CD’s, but it is the Record Company that finally decides, ’what’ CD’s are going to be released...

I guess you’re all right.
BTW, I never meant to say that A-ha has been so very popular during the last 10 years. I think they are more or less on the same level as Roxette, when it comes to popularity and fans. There’s a large A-ha fan base, who do a lot of things together and also have a forum, like we have.
But let’s stick to Roxette:
Couldn’t they for example have done a small US tour with shows in small venues?? At least to show their faces again? Most American fans will have all the cd’s including the ones that have not been released in the US. Then again, they only played 3 or 4 new songs during the last tour!! The rest was greatest hits.
Not that I mind, I loved it, but still...
I would love to have an official live CD of Roxette!

I think everyone can learn a lot of things if s/he looks around. About Roxette and music, they could learn from Kent for example. This band released a double A-side single in November or so, one of the songs being previously unreleased. They made 2 videos, one for each song and released a limited edition of the CD Album “Vapen och Ammunition” including the new A-side “Vinternoll” ready for Christmas presents.

you still have to learn that Per and Marie don’t make music anymore to be top of the charts but because they LOVE it!!!! Of course it’s great when you’re having such a big success but...to be honest..I don’t believe in the music-biz anymore. Too much Fast-food and “mafia-methods” around....
