Would it be best to DELAY power pop hits?

just by what ive heard i think it would be in roxette’s and emi’s best interest to delay power pop hits. and give ballads abit more chance.

- first marie still no well
- second not been released in uk / us yet if at all ?
- third Breathe as second single with ballad version of stars as b-side as someone said on another topic would be great.
- Fourth whats the rush about.

i think if enough people say something you never know. wish they did polls on daily roxette.

I do think it

Although I can’t wait to hear “Oportunity nox”, I think they must release it in the US and UK.
It could be a great album for the nothamericans as they missed “CBB”, “DBUGTTC”, “HAND” and “RS” and half of the songs will be new for them.

Also interested in promote other songs from the album “Breathe” or the old ones “IMHBL”, “LTYH”...

Some people don’t know this songs and if they do they could get likely new Roxette fans (and buyers of the album).

Also the fact of Marie illness... they must rest and promote the album at home, I mean promote with their songs not with their presence in the radio station or TV programmes.

Have a nice day!

I just read an interview with Per in a swedish magazine..they were talking about the ballad hits and the american market there...wonder if I can find it?? I’ll give you a quote if there was anything intresting! :)

ye that would be great. cheers

I agree, as much as I want to hear the new ’Pop’ songs, it would be in Capitol’s and Roxette’s best interest to delay ’The Pop Hits’ till fall and release “Breathe” (a lost hit) as a single - with the half-sunken raspberries as the single cover, as featured in the back insert of the album.

I totally agree !!!

That is exactly what I always thought anyway!
At the moment, in many countries, the Ballad Hits are climbing up the Charts again. In Germany for example, it was down to 42, then up to 35 and now it is 29.
What was the release date for the Pop Hits anyway?? I think, if it would be around April, then the Ballad Hits would have died off everywhere anyway, besides USA and GBR hopefully...
so maybe, it would just be the perfect timing as it is planned. Of course it would not be released in the US and GBR same time as rest of the World. That is obvious... they would get it much later...

So I finally found the interview... :) I’m sorry if my translation gets a bit wierd, I get a little bit mixed up with my languages sometimes... :)
The question was: “The Ballad Hits” is a way for you to come in on the american market again, isn’t it?
And Pers answer was: Sure, but we really havn’t worked actively with the american market. We had a little record company which doesn’t exist anymore. Anyway, we took up contact with the new Capitol Records, the old one doesn’t exist anymore. That’s positive, but it’s difficult to get in on the market, it was easier in 1989.

He by the way even got a question about what he thinks about www2.dailyroxette.com, to which he replied that he reads it every day...

I don’t know how to interpret his answer, but I hope it helps you anyway... :)

thats great news about the american release. if people can see roxette they will buy the records it’s as simple as that. good promotion is all it takes. tv posters magazines ect.
does anyone have the link to roxette ’offical’ record label website. gonna write email to em.

I do not think, that Roxette is going to get any promotion in the US at all...

I agree...you won’t be seeing much promotion I guess...

well i should be there boss in america ill show them how its done. lol ;-)

Well, that would be cool alrite!

Go for it! :-)

Currently, there is absolutely no promotion going for ’The Ballad Hits’ in the USA. It’s coming out January 28 (that’s 2 weeks away!!!) yet none of us fans have heard anything except for a release date.

And to the above post asking for an e-mail to the US record company, try www.capitolrecords.com. I already e-mailed them about a week ago and never got a response - then again, I never expected one.

Unless Capitol USA manages to squeeze in a Valentine’s Day theme for ’The Ballad Hits,’ I see very little happening.

It would it be best to cancel power pop hits.

I hate these stupid compilations...of course I won’t buy them

well i guess they are not now. there gonna push and squeeze as much money out of little promotion. never mind.

I think it would have been best to have released them at the same time as the Ballads.
Or avoid the ballads thingie. Talking about if Roxette could learn from other bands I remember there was a “Queen Rocks!”, but never a “Queen Bores”.
