and one more question: is there really so much closed (museums etc.) end of march???
Jud (moderator) said on January 12, 2003 22:09:
you can find a lot of information about Stockholm at:
www.stockholmtown.com
I would recommend to have a walk in Gamla stan, the Town Hall, Skansen (there is an amusement park there called Gröna Lund but I am not sure if it open already in March, also the Vasamuseet is there), the National museum, Royal Palace, Globen, ...
I cannot really help with Rox-related places cuz I haven’t visited so many. I know where Polar Studios are, that’s all I think.
There are also some cards for tourists, that include transport (tram, bus, subway) and discounts in museums, that may be interesting if you plan to go to lots of them.
There is also a transport card for I think 24 h and 72 hrs (3 days) - not sure if for longer - that were quite nice to get too.
but you will find all the info in that site :)

Strandvägen.
You can buy a travel card for a month for 500 sek and you´ll get back a part of the money if you give it back after 1 -2 weeks.
There is no weekly card.
But I don´t know how much money they give you back.
( a 3 days card costs 150 sek.)

Nordiska museet is interesting too.
You can find it neat to Vasa museet .
Bus 47 from Sergels torg.

i think Gröna Lund is closed (opens end of april) - is there something similar around?
Where are the Polar studios?
Thanks for the information so far!

I’ve made a little Stockholm/Sweden homepage... I’m about to redo it (it was my first html coding, so the design is..well...worse than the content ;) ) but if you want to check it out I can give you a link. It’s in german though...

St Eriksgatan :D I bought my photocamera there!!! :D And I didn’t know Polar was so close :/

Thanks, and one more question:
Are there cheap supermarkets, where i can get food etc., something like a discounter?
And what about a cheap restaurant?
=)

Oh holidays in Stockholm.... the most clean and pretty city in the world with a doubt. Places to visit:-
1) Vasa Museet
2) Skansen
3) City Hall Tour + Tower (but please will fans stop writing on the walls... we know that it is where Roxette filmed “FLAF” but keep Stockholm clean & tidy.
4) Ahlens
5) NK
6) Sweden House (great place to get loads of tourist infomation)
7) Kulturhusset
8) Gamla Stan
9) Kungstradgarden
10) Jacobs Kyrka
11) Sergels Torg
12) Nordiska Museet
13) Slussen
14) Katarinahissen (Great View)
15) Globen
Buy a great tour book and have an excellent time. Try the wonderful underground and bus service!!.

Oh and one more thing... cheap supermarkets... the best supermarket I found is HEMKOP in the basement of Ahlens city opposite Kulturhusset.

Thank you, this helps a lot! I’ll do that program!
Are there some more locations of roxette-clips?

“Fading like a flower” was also recorded in the streets of Gamla Stan. One place that is many times on the video is Stora Torget, in the centre of Gamla stan... “going up” :D in one of the steets that goes up to that square (I think the wall’s white) there’s a café where they make the best chocolate in the world :D (sorry Belgians... I still haven’t been in your country :p).
Besides you can visit the telecommunications tower Kaknästornet. From there you can have a view over the whole city from 27th floor... and that’s the WHOLE CITY! The point is that it’s a little far away from the city centrum, near Djurgården’s island.
If you like art, especially sculpture, you’ll love Millesgården that is in an island not very far away called Lindingö. There are lots of reproductions of the works of Carl Milles, that is a quite well known sculptor from Sweden, and you can go by tramway (not the one that goes to Djurgården :o :p)
Don’t forget Drottningsholm!! Is where the royal family lives, and I do believe is worth a visit, sooooo nice :D
What else... if you feel you have the money go to Sturekompaniet in Stureplan at night if it’s still open :D If you like discos, that’s it :p Nice Swedish girls!!! :p
It’s said that the metro net of Stockholm is “the longest art gallery in the world”...I don’t know if it+s true but you’ll realize why if you get the metro, though walking thru the city can be very nice too.
If you like to go to historical places you should go to the Stadion, that appart from being the place where Djurgårdens plays it held the Summer Olympics in 1912, where Jim Thorpe was the hero. Months after that the Olympic Comitee took him his medals because he had received some dollars for playing baseball a summer... After he died they gave them back recognisin their mistake... too late.
Well, “Photo-finish” was used for the first time in that Stadium :p

And maybe someone knows where to buy roxette stuff (cds or the discography book)?
Thanks =)
Santi said on January 26, 2003 19:10:
Yeah :) In St. Eriksgatan there’re many second hand CD stores. In one of them there were a lot of things of Roxette. ;)
Anyway, last time I was in Stockholm was June 2001 :(

Are the movies shown in Stockholm cinemas dubbed or original with subtitles???
suburber said on March 11, 2003 01:13:
Ola, almost everything is said. But I need to add stadsbibliotek (Sveavägen next to Hard Rock Cafe).
Tunnelbana: Rådmansgata
I love it! So many books. It´s a great view, isn´t it?
Santi said on March 11, 2003 11:13:
Oh yeah :D I spent hooooooooours in Stadsbibliotek!! They had courses in any language you can imagine. I learnt some Romanian! :p
There is another building of Stadsbibliotek in Odengatan (I think) that has the international library. They had books even in Catalan and Basque! Wonderful :D The best thing is that they have also newspapers from many parts of the world. :P I used to read Italian ones :D

One of the best record stores I found was SKIV HUSSET in Stockholm, (there one in Halmstad as well!!) you can pretty much pick up albums there quite cheap.
When I first walked down the street where the shop is I cried as Marie’s new album “I en tid som var” was just released and there was such a fantastic display in the window, I wanted to run off with it!!
Cinema’s are good and check out Kulturhusset for the internet cafe in the basement.
Best coffee “Roberts” coffee shop, those pastrys... Hmmmmm
