There are absolutely dif songs...both great and beautiful but they are a copy one of the other....breathe is really a typical roxette ballad written by per but produced in a much more updated way ....I en tid some var....is much more a personal Marie’s musical expression and has not big link to Roxette’s usual songs...
This is what i feel about them and i listen to both everyday...

Copies can be greater than the original songs!

Seen from that perspective then I will say there is a bit of similarity btw both song but it does not surprises me bacuse that’s a bit common in some Roxette songs i mean you do tend to find bits and pieces of other songs in other songs LOL:) if you know what i mean...
Yet, i think that the bridge in breathe could have been recorded with live strings like in some old ballads it sounds a bit better to me...but i love the song of course. It’s being even airplayed in my coutry in many radios along side ATAY...
i guess that Per must have got some influences from the way Marie writes her own songs...that’s naturall they work together for almost 20 years...:)
Still i would not say that its a cheapy copy of I en tid some var... Breathe as a song itself has a lot of own musical beauty that I personally dont dare to underrate or overlook cause i love this one to much to say something like that...once again this is only what i think ...

It’s not ther best song but it sounds much better than what it really is.

I feel like I’m repeating myself here once again, but...I’m going to have to agree with Coyboy on this one! I think we are only a select few who really believe in “Breathe” for the US market! I really think “Breathe” could be “big” in the USA with just a bit of promotion! It’s perfect for the U.S. radio format currently. It’s not too slow or dragging and it’s a nice pop mid-tempo ballad. It’s really a shame that it’s going to be completely overlooked. And yes, I also think it’s a better single choice than ATAY for the US market.
I’m just curious as to what’s going on with this January 28, 2003 release date for the US release of ’The Ballad Hits.” Do they plan on promoting a single? I visited capitolrecords.com and I don’t even see Roxette listed among their artists. I think I’ll send an e-mail to see if I can find out any information. I really want to get “Breathe” on the airwaves here.

There are many many many many (did I mention MANY) Rox songs that you can compare with another.
I write songs, I have done so since I was about 10 and honestly, sometimes, without even conciously doing it, you’ll have songs with the exact same beats, rhythms, harmony’s etc. What you do is just make something different out of it. You change the lyrics, you change the measure and beats of the song and voila! New song.
A good friend of mine likes to mess around with songs. She found that during the ending choruses to “Centre...” you can play “The Look”’s guitar riff over it.
