OT: Night of the Proms without Roxette

I agree: the NOTP sucked.
I used to love Simple Minds in my teens and was looking forward to seeing them, despite Roxette’s absence, but they only played three songs! You could hear that Foreigner guy sing more than Jim Kerr! I was truly disappointed.

I completely agree with your vision. Simple Minds were tiring, Foreigner had voice-problems. The only Roxette-experience during the whole evening was the crowd going mad when Pointer Sisters were on stage. I’m sure Roxette would have been an other ending compared to Simple Minds. The crowd would have been more Pointer Sisters-like, enthousiastic going through the roof. For me it’s clear: no more NOTP without Roxette

There was an article about NOTP in Dutch Newspaper Algemeen Dagblad yesterday, mentioning Roxette. It seemed that couple of 100 ticketholders in Holland returned their cards.
Jim Kerr of the Simple Minds said that he was shocked to hear about Marie’s disease. ’It puts the pressure of the Music Industry into different perspective’ he added.

aaahh this NOTP thread makes me so miss Roxette!!! I can´t stand it if there´s no Roxette live shows anymore! :(((

I went to the Night of the Proms on Saturday in Antwerp and I must say that I was disappointed! I’ve been to NOTP before, but they were much better than this time. I really missed the great Roxette feeling and also the typical athmosphere of the Rox concerts. Me and some friends were wearing Roxette T-shirts, but I guess we were the only ones. Carl Huybregts (the presenter) didn’t even mention Roxette’s name once! He only said that due to some unexpected circumstances, they had had to look for a new headliner... Foreigner and Simple Minds were there. This Foreigner guy had serious singing/breathing problems and Jim Kerr of the Simple Minds seemed fed up with his own music. I really hope for all of those who are still going in Holland, that the show will be better there.
Let’s hope Roxette will join in next year!!! I missed them a lot!!
