Fireworks Mystery

i know its been discussed before but i couldnt find the thread...okay i was too lazy to trawl through every page, but i was wondering if anyone had got to the bottom of why Fireworks was missed out on all of the hits compilations? it wasnt on Dont Bore Us...it was missed off both the Pop and Ballad hit albums even though every other single(apart from the Pearls of Passion ones) was included and then it was missed off Hits and even off the RoxBox....
Do they really hate it?
what are everyones views on this song? personally i like it

Great song with typical Gessleish pop tune melody and typical Gessleish story (like Cinnamon Street, Little Miss Sorrow etc...). Much better than “every compilation track” Vulnerable.

Fireworks is several leagues above Vulnerable.
Loved it back then, and still make it louder nowadays when it comes up.
“They’re coming to get you....”
listening to this part of the song for the first time was one of the best Roxette moments I ever had since I turned a fan in 1992.
Chills all over!!!!

Yes, I think Per has said he doesn’t like it a lot actually. But we can disagree with him, can’t we? I like it and I also think it’s typical Gessle and typical positive pop. But I also love Vulnerable and I don’t think they can be compared, as the style is quite different.

I’ve always thought Fireworks was great!! Shame it didn’t get higher in the charts though. And I liked the video!

Yea, video is so cool. Best part is Marie and Per on the beach in the fire circle. Combination of flames from fire brands, Per’s long hair in the wind and Marie with prying pose is great.

Great song, catchy lyrics, excellent music. What else can I say?
I love the final chorus after the middle-8, it just goes off!!
Great video, lots of things going on and Marie and Per look great.
Only thing i’d change is the ending with bigger and better fireworks :-P
Oh and the remixes were really good too.

I always thought that Fireworks was/is one of Roxette’s ultimate BEST songs!!
I was so angry when it was left off all the “hits” compilations.
My mom always complain (when she sees the video) that the video gives her car-sick. LOL
GREAT song!!

I have to agree with Per ;) It’s not my favourite song either as many other Roxette songs which I define as: too much pop. It’s not this kind of melodic line of song I like...It doesn’t move me. I like this drop of rock inside, like in Per’s solo projects or Gyllene Tider and some of non Roxette hits. I like songs created under the influence of the music from 60th, 70th, 80th with a lot of guitars and great melodic line. Simple songs are easy to remember but in the same time can be boring fast if they don’t have this kind of a “magnetic power”. But I like the “Fireworks” video, it tells a story and it’s one of better Roxette videos. :)

I thought “Fireworks” was going to be one of their biggest hits ever - sure called that wrong! I absolutely loved it from the first three seconds I heard of it. And the live version from the C!B!B! tour is SO good... I love the way Marie changes up the chorus after the bridge in that version. Fantastic. I remember hearing a rumour in summer of ’93 that “Fireworks” was the working title for “C!B!B!” so I’ll bet that before “Sleeping in my Car” came along, this was intended to be the first single...

Actually...they first wanted “Crazy About You” as the first single from C!B!B!. When Sleeping In My Car came along they removed that song frpom the album.
Fireworks is ok but not one of my favourites. But I think it do deserved to be at least on the RoxBox...

I love all the little sounds and backing vocals on “Fireworks” - the musical arrangement is SO good.
It deserves it’s place in the “Roxette Hall Of Fame” of songs. Definately one of the catchiest songs ever.

@Rox-Attic.
Where did you read that “Crazy About You” was supposed to be the first single?

BRAVO magazine told the same back then. Think it was true.
I love the song and miss it on the hits packages. Though I’d admit that it’s some kind of copy/mix from Joyride and HDYD... Watch the sky!

I love it!!!! I prefer when Per sings the Roxette songs. My fave probably being She Doesn’t Live Here Anymore. Marie tends to get on my nerves a bit if I’m honest! Just think Per’s got a really special and unique voice not to mention very sexy...

I love the track!
I’d have skipped Crash! Boom! Bang! as the 2nd single and gone with Fireworks straight after “Sleeping in my Car”.
The way Marie sings “checkin’ in, checkin’ out” is so catchy and sexy!
Video was a disappointment though...
Per mentioned that the song didn’t turn out exactly how he had imagined, I think he’s way too critical, I think it’s a typical catchy, punchy, power-pop Roxette ditty. I love it. Marie’s vocals are awesome!
Great riff, great little bits and pieces to it, definitely a Top 10 fave of mine!
