So I'm finally going to Halmstad...

...for my work, that is. I’ve never felt the need for taking a pilgrim journey to Per Gessles hometown, nevertheless I’m quite excited about that now that I’m going.
Anything worth seeing in Halmstad while I’m there? Tips about Malmö are also appreciated.

Thank you. Just talked to a guy at a meeting today who had actually lived in Halmstad, and he said it was really beautyful. I’m starting to think I have missed out on something...:-)

In summer it’s my fave town. Well, okay..I’ve seen more beautiful cities but Halmstad has a special atmosphere in the summer. Though it changed a lot since the 90ties. There is something missing. A lot of good cover bands from Halmstad disappeared. Maybe I just got old but there is not much happening in the clubs that fits my taste.
Anyway: Halmstad for me is: Summer, After beach party, a cold cider, ice-cream and ...saying hallo to Per if he passes by. ;)

As a Rox-fan you should visit “Leifs Lounge” at Hotel Tylösand in Tylösand. It’s the little disco there. There are hanging a lot golden and platin Rox- and GT-records on the walls. I’ve never been there in wintertime so I don’t know if you just can go in there. During summer the door is normally open.
Also you HAVE TO visit the beach. I don’t know when you will go there but the beach is my fave...no matter what kind of weather but of course it’s the best in summertime. If you wanna have “en promenad genom stan” like in the song (also thinking about “Småstad”) you should see the Picasso statue in the city and “Norre Port” (an old town gate) also in the centre. In the little castle you can find the Tourist info for more details. I can’t recommend the “Tropic center”..at least not if you really love animals...I feel sorry for all these poor creatures with no sunlight and plastic plants in their cages. In the Tropic center you can watch some birds, snakes, spiders, fish, turtles etc.
In Malmö you should take a boat trip around all these little bridges there...as long as it’s possible in wintertime and nobody will get frozen...;)
Have a nice trip!
