Mikael, I have a HQ version of a webcast
it’s a 300MB for a concert & 200 MBs for three other files.
I even was able to convert it from that terrible WindowsMedia8 ASF (doesn’t allow to rewind it) into a normal AVI (a bit bigger filesize - so a quality is not affected)
I wrote you a letter a week ago about swapping (I have a Moscow concert 2001) but got a no reply

@Kibkalo: How did you managed to convert it?
Thanks for the information (hope I get it)!

Mikael, I got your letter & replied!
As for converting....
ASF or Windows Media 7 and 8 are formats with a copyrighted algoritms, not published anywhere.
Even more - Microsofts claims it to be illegal to write a tool converting from this format to any other (like a situation with Real media networks & .rm)
There is a program ASFTools - it can convert to AVI, but not recompressing, but only changing an ASF header to AVI. so having a codec you may see this .avi file - but not able to convert it anymore .
So i managed to write a program myself.
As so as I don’t know the algoritm & it couldn’t be found in internet, I got a DirectX SDK from Microsoft and using Visual C++.NET wrote a simple application which is able to play such a file.
(that’s not very difficult, yet)
Then I just redirected video stream from Windows Video Renderer to File Dump Async (speaking in the language of DirectShow filters) & got an Uncompressed AVI on out. That’s 60GB for two hours of audio/video stream. After that just converted it using DivX.
So you may also make a try, - I shall not publically redistribute my program, coz it’s illegal.
If you want I may send you a sample of resulted DivX file (any song for example) - just provide an FTP
P.S.
I will gladly exchange this video (WMV or AVI format) with anyone who can suggest interesting material.
P.P.S.
Any questions about decoding technique and/or programm ONLY via E-mail !
