Songs that should have been released as singles

In my opinion, the biggest Roxette mistake when releasing singles happened in Have a Nice Day. I think that this album had a big potencial and it could have been better in charts if Crush on you was released instead of Anyone.
Songs like The sweet hello, Perfect day and My world my love my life are others that I think that should’ve been Rox singles.

When I came to this board about a year ago, I remember reading a lot of talk about HAND having the wrong singles. Now a year later after heavily listening to the album, I think they did release the right singles in the right order. I guess I may be the only one who agrees, but that’s what I think. In terms of other singles, I agree that “Crush On You” should have been a single...the 5th.

I would have loved to have seen “You can’t put your arms around what’s already gone”, “Crush on you”, AND “Waiting for the rain” released off HAND.
“Salvation” I would’ve left out. They could’ve released one double A-side single if 6 singles were too many...
coyboyusa said on February 4, 2002 05:36:
ok here i have o say it was the order of the singles that ruined things and they and emi at one point both said coy was to be a single...the single itself was mastered then withdrawn...emi sucks
roxtexanet said on February 4, 2002 07:31:
The biggest miss is “My World, My Love, My Life.” The song is just fantastic. We definitely could have done without “Anyone” as a single (especially second)... “Crush On You” was an obvious choice, it’s a shame that EMI UK screwed it up for everyone.

Someone said they shouldn´t have released Salvation but I think that´s the very best song on HAND and a great choice of single!!! Stars was not...I really don´t like that one.
About Anyone, I don´t know really...maybe it would have been better to chose COY instead, even though Anyone is one of my personal favourites
gyllene_tjej said on February 4, 2002 12:29:
Crush on you would be a perfect choice! What kind of great impact it had on me as a RS tour opener!!!!!
Then...Cinnamon street, The heart shaped sea, What’s she like.... damn it, much more!!!

3. 727 instead of Salvation
4. Silver Blue instead of queen of rain
5. I’m Sorry instead of Run to you
6. TTTTake it should have been on DBUGTTC and You dont understand me should have been left out

“Looking For Jane” - great single. Would be perfect for the US market.
Buko said on February 7, 2002 14:21:
In my opinion, Real sugar shouldn’t have been a single. Matah was supposed to be the 2nd from RS, and after My world my love my life and then Make my head go pop.
rox74ever said on February 7, 2002 21:23:
@coyboyusa:
do you mean:
1- waitting for the rain
2- looking for jane
?
Buko said on February 12, 2002 15:39:
Looking for you would also have been a great single, maybe a hit if Roxette knew how to do a good promotion not only in Europe.
Gessle said on February 12, 2002 17:00:
Hej,
Well... I miss “Crush On You”, “It Will Take A Long Long Time” and “Looking For Jane”... and I can’t believe they released songs like “Stars”, “TCOTH” and “Anyone” as singles. (Anyone is a great song, don’t get me wrong, I just don’t think it was a good choice for single).
And if you look at their B-Sides... man, it gets worst... “Crazy About You”, “The Sweet Hello The Sad Goodbye”, “Better Off On Her Own”.. ahhhh, I miss them all !!!!
See ya

My list for HAND
1. Crush on you (a great begining after 5 years, with a new modern sound. In my opinion that song is “the look 1999”)
2. Wish I could fly ( the best power ballad on Hand)
3. Stars ( another new image song. Its not my favorite but it was good enough to be a single, but i would choose the almighty version)
4. YCPYAAWAG or Pay the price ( the other ballads like anyone or salvation were boring)
My list for RS:
1. Real Sugar (it would be the smashing hit since how do you do...with a good promotion.)
2. M&T&H (sweet melody, with a really good marie voice. And really a “Wake-up-and-get-breakfast-song)
3.Fool (soundtrack for a comedyfilm a la American Pie or something)
4. MW,ML,ML (super ballad to close an album and a Roxette-year)

i really think Pay The Price should have been released as a single. the guitar solo is WICKED!
also, Cinnamon Street and Small Talk would have been cool...
Keep on Roxin’
coyboyusa said on June 12, 2002 12:30:
actually if they ever released you cant put ur arms out as a single thy would have been laughed off the radio that song sucks!.
Hand was a mess single wise. I love anyone BUT...if they had done hand correctly it woulda been like this
crush
salvation : I rember them saying this was gonna be an x mas single so maybe it shoulda been last who knows
Pay the price: only cause emi at first though it should be a single in asia hence the double a-side single with anyone
wicf: this would take alot of people off guard and kept interest in the album
stars: lets be honest people stars be it simple writing or a goofy dance song still is one of the best songs they’ve done
as for other albums...cbb they coulda left out vulnerable for whats she like
tourism: hmm keep me waiting woulsa been nice
joyride: hotblooded since they opened every show on that tour with it
ls: paint: cause the wierd 80’s video they woulda done for it would have been funny
freshold said on February 3, 2002 14:54:
add “What’s she like” to the list ! I was dying to hear it’s a single and I even imagined a video clip for it....they should get a better manager ;)
