A bit of an odd one, but my favourite Christmas song is ’She Won’t Be Home’ by Erasure. It’s so sweet and sad, and it had to lose out to BLOODY CLIFF RICHARD!!! My first Christmas, and No1 was Cliff Richard...is there no justice?

Every year since I bought “Snowed Inn” by Hanson, I listen to it. It has a lot of wonderful X-mas songs. And it’s rock, so I really enjoy it.

Merry Christmas (War is Over) from John Lennon. I love the song and it brings me back nice memories :)

Jona Lewie-Stop The Cavalry’s a pretty good one!
Band Aids...first one good, second one OK, but obviously an excuse to get the SAW roster out in one go (Missing Rick Astley though, tut tut), 3rd one shite. I’m sorry, but it was bad, kids raiding the percussion cupboard towards the end...but at least people did constructive things with their copies of it (well, I say constructive...) like microwave them, use them as bird scarers etc

Good choices...but whcih BA (1,2 or 20?)
I finally found my Cocteau Twins boxset, and put on their version of Frosty The Snowman, which sounds so wierd and so cool at the same time. Love the song, but still don’t feel Christmassy...

I always listen to Peter Jöback´s ’Jag kommer hem igen till jul’ album which features one of my all time favourites ’O, Helga Natt’. Then I like ’Mitt hjerte alltid vanker’, ’Varmt igen’, ’Santa Claus is coming to town’ and Hark the angel (Can’t remember the full title).
I would like to listen to the Norwegian CD from 2001 called ’Sølvguttene synger julen inn’. Has anybody heard it? Is it good?
Edit: How could I forget ’God rest ye merry gentleman’!

Interesting that you mention Peter Joback.....
I have a duet that he did with Swedish pop singer Towe Jaarnek (goes by Towe)... from 1992 I think. It’s featured on her album. Song “More than a Game” great song!
On that album Towe also did a nice duet with Lasse Holm, and some songs are written by Lasse, a famous fella in Swedish pop
Sorry for offtpoic

Hands down the best christmas song has to be Last Christmas by Wham, because it is such a pretty song and it is rarely played as much as the others which makes it all the more special when it does come on the radio. I like the version by Darren Hayes too, but not as much as the original!

I adore Mariah’s All I Want......so euphoric
Pretenders did an awesome version of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas......Chrissie Hynde’s voice is awesome.
Gloria Estefan’s Silent Night is also a treat, and Cyndi Lauper’s Christmas Conga (it’s bonkers!)
I just bought Sarah McLachlan’s new xmas cd and her cover of Lennon’s Merry Christmas (War Is Over) is something else......
