TCOTH demo
rox-kuryliw said on November 28, 2006 08:52:
I thought i read per and marie both did this demo, didnt they just speed up maries vocals for the final version of tcoth ? or something like that or have i got it wrong ?
chrisjankunas said on November 28, 2006 10:14:
If I remember correctly: They recorded a proper version for the Have A Nice Day album, considered it as the first single but cut it from HAND as the tempo “wasn’t quite right”. They remixed it for RS digitally re-pitching Marie’s voice.

My god this songs is almost 10 years old!!! LOL
Who would ever wonder? LOL

Won’t play anything for me, can’t think why... it played all the other demo’s allright.
mareo said on November 28, 2006 12:09:
But what the hell is that??? I’m dying to hear the demo and I click on the Play-button and it doesn’t play. I have two PCs here and none of them plays it. How can this be? Please, help: [email protected].
Zargo said on November 28, 2006 12:54:
Just came back and pressed play again, and now it’s going fine...
So maybe give it another go now.
Interesting, slightly strange sounding demo... I like the fade-out.

If you read at the HAND ot the last greatest hits booklet it says that The Center of the heart was recorded in el cortijo spain in 1998 and in Stockolm in 2000. So i guess they redorded a version first and then they fixed it two years later.
What is amazing to see is that Per makes the demo and then the only thing that changes in the studio is the sound quality the whole idea of all came from him. Amazing.
We are suck a lucky persons, Mr Gessle is the best thing a fan could wish. non stop working since... always? An album almost per year, and incredible talent to make music, free demos and after all some fan are angered with him...
God bless MR G.
mareo said on November 28, 2006 14:42:
@ emilio: you’re absolutely right. Another human being at that age, after such a success and so muc money, would have stayed home and gone around the world travelling and enjoying life. But Per enjoys working, and we loved what he does. Yeah, we are so lucky!
AddeColciago said on November 28, 2006 15:08:
This is by far the coolest demo, yet! :D .. Love the drums in the chorus, sounds weird .. :’ D

That’s excatly what i was trying to say. he could live 6 months in Aruba, 6 in Cuba, another 6 in NY a couple of months in the Argentinian Patagonia, and he is still making music that gets better with the time, just like the wine.
I hope he neves gets tired of that.

I agree with rox-kuryliw. I also expected to hear Marie on The Centre Of The Heart demo, so I was really surprised when I read that it was only Per doing the vocals. So another The Centre Of The Heart “demo” is missing :)
@emilio It’s great to know that there are other Roxette fans who think like me :)
By the way, the demo is superb!
roxtexanet said on November 29, 2006 00:44:
Wow! Maybe it’s because this is already my favourite song ever, but I really think this is the best Rox demo I’ve ever heard! I’d love to hear a remix of the final song that includes these guitars from the chorus (I guess the live version is a little like this) - given how people here seem to be borderline obsessed with guitars, I’m surprised no-one has mentioned them yet in their comments!
Rox_Nox2003 said on November 29, 2006 01:11:
Obcessed with guitars??? LOOOL That is too little to describe the roxfeeling some roxfans make efforts to express continously... one day they will ask to hear only one instrument on a rox song: the electric guitar. LOL They easily forget that Roxette aren’t a pure rock band where guitars have no big priority in the music ... it used to be like that early but that was a sound of a certain period thing have changed don’t know whether fot the better or worse but the cool thing is... they changed it into what they wanted and believed it was what they felt right. Against our guitar obcessed needs? Please ... they write and compose they way they like to ... i repeat an old quote “don’t like it, don’t buy it” it’s so simples as this why making so complicated. One either grow with the music changing (cause people forge that even themselves never stay the same ...) or u just pull back and realise it’s not your thing anymore. And it’s not a hard thing to do ... it all comes from ur minds and hearts... wanting the past to be perpetuated now it’s just ruining the whole thing, it would even sound worse than what many claim to be Roxette’s worst music period (1999-onwards) ... when u repear urself and push futher something that does not fit into a into frame of mind, music creation views and timeline music concept, then u’re fooling urself. Music is just like us... it’s only 10 years old once and that’s it...
Once again, great demo, great guitars ... still love the original no matter the sound and the instruments it works wonders for me...

What I don’t get is: Take Anyone(demo) vs Anyone(demo) + Love how you love me
The two Anyone(demos) have different lyrics, what up with that?
coyboyusa said on November 29, 2006 12:19:
well mayny time artists demo somethign just to get the idea down then go back and revise it a couple times, also you guys need to rember they basically recorded HAND once, didn’t like the results, scrapped it and went back to redo the album, so hence the 2 anyone demos, the potentiallt 2 tcoth demos, I am not surprised marie isn’t on the demo, she rarel ever did demos according to per, and correct me if I’m wrong but when i watched the really roxette documentary around mid 95 i sincerely think per and marie had a bit of a rift over how long they should take off after joyride/ don’t bore us. Per went into ultra productive mode around then, twatg was basically written as a roxette album.....so I dunno, personally i hope we get one song out of the demo lot that none of us have ever heard, i really wanan hear only you the other desmond child co written song
Wicf said on November 29, 2006 13:36:
Great demo, if Per had recorded it few months earlier, people couldn’t say TCOTH is a cover of SG’s I Want You :P
btw The electric guitar is the best instrument ever. It doesn’t matter that Roxette arent a pure rock band, you could hear the EG on almost every Roxette track in their best days... SIMC sounds more like rock than pop, IMHO, but I’m not a genre-expert’
CoyRoy said on November 29, 2006 21:02:
Can anyone share the song with me - I can’t seem to listen to it on the Roxette site.
Help me!!
Rox_Nox2003 said on November 30, 2006 01:18:
But that is the reason for this guitar freakishness... SIMC became the catalyst for a more rockish sound but not necessarly meaninh Roxette must always have guitars. I also love guitar but I can’t expect every singel roxette song to have a guitar ... we should learn to appreciate differente things. Sometimes I feel that roxette fans are hard to evolve into diversity with their favourite band.. it’s a shame ...
Great demo, but not necessarly a copy of I Want You of SG ... may have a few common things but if u know The Look u’ll easily understand the way this songs sounds in its melody ... the chorus is too much roxette so... SG? From where did u get that vive on I Want You? Barbra Streisand? Ummmmmmm.... LOL

I don’t know why everyone is going on about the guitar in the na na na parts in Centre demo, that exact same
guitars in is the original na na na parts to, just not as loud
Nixie said on November 30, 2006 11:51:
I just love all these website demos. They would have been great to have on Roxbox! They absolutely wouldn’t make me fall asleep as Per thought...
But now that the demos aren’t in the box, is there any chance of a future CD release? I would like to have them all and be able to listen to them again and again - and to keep them all my life! Listening only week to each isn’t enough for me (but better than nothing of course).
Wicf said on November 30, 2006 14:34:
I never said TCOTH was a copy of IWY. But when TCOTH came out in 2001, some Rox-fans said it was a IWY cover, which is quite stupid. There might be some similiarity between “What am I gonna do” part and “Anytime I need to see your face” part, but apart from this, these two songs are completely different... The same goes for LTYH and “What About Love” by Hearts... There is one similiar part, but the rest is different. And still, some people say LTYH is cover of WAL
ncurran said on November 30, 2006 14:36:
The only thing i dont like about these demos being released on rox.se is that they arent really labelled clearly enough. They are cool to listen to as fans, but the quality isnt really on a par with the final versions, and i think that if any non-fans visited the site they wouldnt necessarily know that these were demos
Rox_Nox2003 said on November 30, 2006 23:50:
Whatever people may say about songs being similar or not to other prior to those, why should that be a problem? Not for me... :)
