It´s official: ON won´t be promoted in Spain!!
PolicarpoAroca said on October 26, 2006 16:50:
Sorry guys...but the biggest radio station in Spain, LOS 40 PRINCIPALES, won´t promote the new Roxette single, because “Emi Spain have not ordered such a campaign”.
This is what a reliable contact in the radio station has told to me. The truth is that this radio station always promoted ROxette songs, more os less, but I was able to listen to Opportunity Nox here. But believe, they are not playing ON.
I don´t know what any other spanish radio stations are doing. But this is all because I told you recently: Emi Odeon Spain have marked the new Roxette realeases as “strategic marketing” not as a principal campaigns. They only one international artist they will promote in face of the next Christmas period is Robbie Williams.

Finally EMI Czech stars promoting new releases. Five minutes after twelve.
Sascha said on October 26, 2006 17:58:
Well, why should they promote Opportunity Nox 3,5 years afters its release? ;-p
crazy said on October 26, 2006 19:13:
ey! there’s no problem... if we ask for Rox they put Rox on the radios... I’ve send mails to local tv and local radio and finally One wish is in the air at least in Barcelona, and yesterday they put OW in a autonomic radio (for Catalonia= radio flaix bac) and repeat today. My next step: mails and mails to Cadena 100, nacional radio reclaiming for Rox... we’ll see... if you want help in my hard work:) send some mails to [email protected] voting for Roxette.

And people wonder why I spell it all out (One Wish / Opportunity Nox, etc)?
PolicarpoAroca said on October 26, 2006 22:08:
I mean that they played Opportunity Nox back in 2003 when it was released, not now. I don´t know how many times it was played, but at least they did it. That is not happening with OW.
Rox_Nox2003 said on October 27, 2006 01:07:
Did they bother to explain why?
Here in Portugal, for instance, the song hasn’t been played not even a single time anywhere. And to makes things even more strange... the album should have been released here on the 16th Oct as in all Europe but noooooo they are still waiting to get it throughtout all stores (apparently portuguese Fnacs have it already) but guess what.... There is a million copies of Rudebox exposed for sale on every single store and this was even released after Roxette... any reason? A strategic preference for RW? I don’t know but I have my own views on this and it’s not that different to what is happening in Spain as far as radio promo is concerned.

I just don’t understand music bussiness... Didn’t OW make TOP 3 in Spanish single chart? If it did, why isn’t it being promoted on radio? Of course, sales and airplay are different things, but I really don’t understand it :)
Oscarbcn said on October 27, 2006 16:28:
I was about to ask if any of the Spanish fans had listened to OW in any of the radio stations, particularly in Los 40 (not my fav but the most listened) Now I have the answer: I’m not the only one.
Other stations play old rox hits, specially The Look and Sleeping in my car almost daily, but say nothing about the new releases. I’ve already looked up to the album sales chart and Rox are at 38 the first week (a bit dissapointing, isn’t it?) Don’t know if the box counts for these sales (guess it doesn’t)
I’ve already sent an e-mail to the direction of los 40 to complain. It won’t do a thing but at least I feel better...
By the way, here is the e-mail I sent:
A quien concierna:
The look, Dressed for Success, Dangerous, Listen to your heart, Joyride, Fading like a flower, It must have been love, How do you do!, Sleeping in my car, Crash! Boom! Bang!, Wish I could fly, The center of the heart y no sé si me dejo alguno.
Saludos.
Oscar

Sorry, I forgot to translate (forgive my grammar mistakes ;P)
To whom it may concern:
We all know that the music business has its rules, but some of us ask ourselves how is it possible that a station that helped Roxette so much in the past (yes, those two to whom you used to call “the golden Swedes”) completely forgets their last release; not only because it represents a cellebration of their 20 years as a group but also because of the fact that it means Marie’s comeback to the front line after her illness (so much echoed in the cases of Anastacia or Kyle). Last but not least because there are lots of fans who love this duo and I’m sure there would be more if their music was played.
Some time ago, the main complain against 40p was that you didn’t air the alltime favourites. Now you’ve sort of solved this by playing the 90’s hits. And, again, Roxette are the big forgotten. From 89 till 2003 they’ve released singles with more or less success, but at 40p they’ve reached several times nr1: The look, Dressed for Success, Dangerous, Listen to your heart, Joyride, Fading like a flower, It must have been love, How do you do!, Sleeping in my car, Crash! Boom! Bang!, Wish I could fly, The center of the heart (don’t know if I leave any) I think they deserve your respect.
Maybe EMI doesnt’ pay you to play them, but do record companies also pay when you put the “old hits”?Lots of us don’t understand how this business works. We only like good music and is a pity that money is the last and only reason for all the decisions.
I don’t have any expectations on what this note is gonna do, as for the promotion of the last Rox releases is concern, but at least I feel better after writing it. If anybody has read it, thank you. And I recommend you to have a listen to One Wish, the last Roxette single. It’s fresh, funny and Marie sings beautifully!
Regards
Oscar Naveros

@Oscar: well done! it’s ok to know that someone else is sending mails, I am not the only “crazy”.
A question: what mail addres you used to contact los 40?, I’ve tried it to [email protected] but it doesn’t work.
Txiqui said on November 9, 2006 15:20:
Oscar did you get any answer from the radio station??
I would like to know if someone read your mail, couse i think it shows perfectly the way that lots of spanish roxette fans feel about roxette and los 40 principales.
By the way europa fm are playing roxette songs all the time instead, its a great radio station, better than los 40.
:))

I think it’s wortheless expecting an anwer from any radio station cause i’ve done it myself and did not get any answer whatsoever ...

Hi guys! no replies from the radio station (that was pretty clear for me when I send the email, but anyway...)
I sent it to [email protected]
By the way, the other day I saw a tv ad on TVE. Nice to see it.

I’m really amazed that almost no radio stations in Spain play One Wish. I’ve always imagined that Spain was one of the most important markets for Roxette.
But I hope, it’s true that One Wish reached #3 spot in the Spanish sales charts!
Rox_Nox2003 said on November 10, 2006 06:38:
A mistery never to be solved at least not for the moment ...
miguelsocialist said on November 10, 2006 11:38:
I’m spanish and I have to say Roxette has achieved an #3 with One Wish and the single is still on Top 10 sales singles chart at #6 and that shows it’s more best-selling and known than it could be thought by the reactions of Emi Spain and Los 40 Principales. It’s a lesson for a radio station that only do things thinking about money, not the joking and full of fun station that they pretend.
Maybe one day... They’ll get what they deserve... a low audience because people look for quality rather than marketing.
Sorry about possible mistakes cause I only speak spanish and català usually :)

That is so EMI ... even here in Portugal EMI is delaying delivering Rox CDs to the stores but heeeyyy didn’t forget to deliver the latest Robbie album which is on all stores and highly seen to buyers. LOL Not surprised, not schocked... It was expected!
