Differences/peculiarities in the roxbox songs

obviously all i ever wanted was intended for maries change album the song is so damn special :)ps the blah demo is great except for that stupid sound i dunno if its from the drum machine or what its annoying lol
roxlad said on October 25, 2006 12:19:
I can hear a difference on the 7twenty7 demo but I’m still not sure about Always Breaking My Heart.
mareo said on October 25, 2006 12:32:
I couldn’t hear any difference in 7-27, but if they say it’s unreleased there should be some...
Sascha said on October 25, 2006 13:02:
I think All I Ever Wanted is enhanced a lot. Did the bootleg have the strings at all?
starlover83 said on October 25, 2006 13:05:
I can’t hear any difference in 7Twenty7 and Always Breaking My Heart. Compared them by listening in my headphones, box version in left ear, old version in right. They are the same to me.
The Cry demo on the bootlegs have Marie singing “hey” at 13 seconds into the song. This has been edited out on the box. Also New World is shorter on the box by about 20 seconds.
miso said on October 25, 2006 17:20:
Love Spins and All I Ever Wanted are REALLY diferent from the previous versions.
Marieangel said on October 25, 2006 17:58:
I haven’t got my box yet.
But maybe the All I Ever Wanted version is the same you can hear in the Andra Chans Marie’s docu.
Kiwein1 said on October 25, 2006 18:38:
When you read the booklet you quickly will find out that All I ever wanted indeed is a different version since it was edited/rerecorded in 2004. ;-) Sounds nice.
Roxrider_USA said on October 25, 2006 20:21:
Bla Bla Bla (Demo), has a cool arrangement. I really like it. It should have been kept in the final version.
Better Off On Her Own is cool too!
Take care!

Did anyone notice too that “It Will Take A Long Long Time” is the “Modern Rock Version” (as featured on the ’Real Sugar’ single) and not the ’Have A Nice Day’ album version? I like the “Modern Rock Version” better anyway.
RobS said on October 26, 2006 11:33:
Any other differences in there that you may have picked up??
Good to see that the Modern Rock Version of IWTALLT is in there.
kashee said on October 26, 2006 12:29:
TheRain1981, I was overjoyed to realise this too. I loved the Modern Rock version and had not bought the CD single back then. My initial pessimistic view of the RoxBox have changed to that of immense joy.
kashee said on October 26, 2006 15:25:
“All I ever wanted” is brilliant. The orchestra arrangement is very Bond-esque.
Marieangel said on October 27, 2006 16:50:
All I Ever wanted & New World are the best on the box for me.
Bla,bla, bla is great,i love the strings on it.But that kind of sound when the chorus is starting it’s ugly.Break the whole meaning of the song.
Love spins it’s great too! i love, very diff to the demo all we known
athingaboutyou said on October 27, 2006 17:35:
lol coyboy, about bla bla bla. I thought someone fell down with pots and pans in the background the first time I heard it, the second time it happened in the song, I was like “oh, no....*cringe*”
Its silly and a bit retarded. ;P But overall the rest of the song is hot.
Sascha said on October 28, 2006 19:51:
Yes, that bla bla sound is really irritating! Like someone knocking... And I don’t understand why All I Ever Wanted is still labeled as a demo. Pretty perfect demo! :-)
TheRain1981 said on October 30, 2006 02:04:
Yes, I was going to mention that “Soul Deep” is the ’Joyride’ version. Just when you think that you already have too many ’Joyride’ songs in the box! They sneak that one in! Too bad it wasn’t something more rare ... like the 7” version!
animalkingdom said on October 30, 2006 20:23:
@ Sascha
Well, then they should’ve gone for the Tom Lord-Alge remix of Soul Deep! That’s the best one ;)
animalkingdom said on October 30, 2006 20:25:
Oh no! I forgot: the ’7-minute remixes’ just would’ve interrupted the flow... ;))
whateveriam said on October 30, 2006 21:07:
They play down their remixes too much!!! Some of them are great!!!
TheRain1981 said on October 30, 2006 23:13:
Honestly, I’ve never really liked the Tom Lord-Alge mix of “Soul Deep” that much. I’ve always prefered the 7” version or original ’Pearls’ album version.

The Heart Shaped sea is (luckily) the album version and not the Single version - it has the nice keyboard intro. Love Spins is also a “faster” version with a faster beat than the demo I have.
(Btw - a really really shitty song - so glad it wasn’t on the Joyride LP).
I still wish Roxette would release the song “Joyride” - the album version and not the stupid edited version of the single. I hate that they took out the honky-tonk piano part!
There are only 2 songs missing in this RoxBox and those are “HOTBLOODED” and “CRUSH ON YOU”!!

Roxbox is officially my favourite toy - there’s so much going on there that I am constantly listenin to it and reading the liner notes. And I agree COY shoulda been included, as should have Oh Marie - even better than Sheryl Crow’s version! Would have also liked My World, My Love to be on as it’s amazing.
My partner hadn’t heard Every Day until I insisted on listening to all 4 discs in one day - he LOVED it.....y’see, even the rare stuff can win new fans, lol. Adorable song....shoulda been a single....or even included on the album!
I guess you can’t have everything on a 4 disc compilation but the stuff that’s there really does cater for both the casual fan and the serious one too....a nice balancing act.
A brilliant anthology of our fave Swedes.......now if only they’d make another bloody album!
Woulda been nice to get some rare telly performances/live trax (e.g. RS Tour or even C!B!B! stuff on DVD)
coyboyusa said on November 14, 2006 16:07:
it always confuses me why sometimes the put album versions on compilations and yet bigger songs like joyride you get the single version or 7” edit, which really pisees me off.
Zargo said on November 15, 2006 01:34:
It always pisses me off to find shortened versions of ’Crash! Boom! Bang!’ and ’Vulnerable’ on these compilations... the album versions are certainly the only way to go.
Room_service said on November 15, 2006 03:08:
I regret they don’t include the album version of “Crash! Boom! Bang!” on any release. The single version lacks the haunting intro. Also it’s also shorter at the end. And it sorta ruins the whole atmosphere of the song (specially the intro). Regarding “Vulnerable”, I don’t mind it is the single or album version, because it sounds exactly the same. In addition, it is a song that really bores me, so better if shorter!
Also, I wanna say “Better Off On Her Own” in the Rox-Box is the same version you can find on the “Stars” single. Some fans claimed it is not the same, but I can’t hear any difference at all.
Igor_M said on November 15, 2006 08:29:
Room_service, so you can hear Marie and other backing vocals on demo version? :)
RobS said on November 15, 2006 10:29:
Yeah, you can definitely tell it’s different. It’s almost quite strange to hear it without Marie filling out the background.
Zargo said on November 15, 2006 12:08:
I like Per’s singing “she’s all i got” towards the end of Vulnerable in the album version... it cuts quickly to the whistling in the single version.
animalkingdom said on November 15, 2006 12:42:
I prefer the demo of BOOHO, as well as the demo of Bla Bla Bla!
PiterPam said on November 16, 2006 17:25:
@Room Service
“Better off on her own” is a little bit different, than the stars-version. The version on the Stars-Single has more backingvocals in the last 2 refrains, i think marie sings there too. And, if i am not wrong, in the middle part, there are also synthesizer in the starsversion.
fabi_salisbury said on October 25, 2006 12:05:
I was listening to New World (roxbox version) and i noticed that the “yeah yeah yeah” in the end is a little bit different... They added a track of Marie singing it an octave lower... It sounds better in my opinion. And the song lasts 3:39 mins, not 4:38 according to the box.
Have you noticed any other differences in any other songs?
