Marilyn Manson is influencing the world
avahogree said on September 29, 2006 19:11:
Just something I noticed.
Marilyn Manson didn’t exactly invent rock with caberetic elements, but he was certainly the only one in the mainstream doing it near the beginning of this millenium. Now everyone’s doing it (all these Panic! At The Disco types).
Muse’s Supermassive Black Hole video is a total rip-off of Marilyn Manson’s Personal Jesus video.
The person who produced Rihanna’s S.O.S. song took half of their production straight out of Marilyn Manson’s version of Tainted Love (listen closely, and you can hear sound effects that were original to the Marilyn Manson version). And I’ve heard that now the same is being done by a UK artist called Jamelia - but with his version of Personal Jesus instead. Two of the biggest female pop stars made their biggest moves while revolving around Mariyn Manson’s ideas. Would Jamelia had even of heard of Personal Jesus if it weren’t such a big hit for Marilyn Manson 2 years ago? It’s not exactly the most remembered of Depeche Mode’s catalogue.
Are there any more Manson fans here? What are you looking forward to the most? The new album? The Phantasmagoria soundtrack (it’s a compilation of Mechanical Animals, Holy Wood and The Golden Age out-takes). Or the Phantasmagoria movie?
I have to say, I’m looking forward to the new album the most. That’s not to say that I’m not looking forward to finally getting a full version of Mommy Dear and all those other Holy Wood outtakes (it’s my favorite album of his). But I’m just looking forward to the whole symbolism behind the new material.
The Golden Age of Grotesque was inspired by pre-war Berlin and the degenerate art that was rampant at the time - art which Hitler had destroyed. If you listen closely to the music on one of the new websites - you can hear someone say “Northern Radio has announced today that Hitler is dead” - which means the new album will be partly inspired by the onslaught of filth that the world embraced when the fall of the Nazi’s came. The new album is also reportedly set to explore the similarities of today with the time of the Black Plague. So, we have the fall of facism joined with the time of the monarchs (death, decay and destruction). It’s set to be one hell of a filth-infested album.
And you?
Marilyn Manson is so much smarter than anyone you listen to.

Much like this is NOT a Post Only What Harriej Wants To Read Forum. If you know you don’t like Manson, then don’t click on a topic that clearly states his name in the thread title. This topic is directed at the people who DO like Marilyn Manson. This applies to the other guy above you too. If you don’t like, then don’t click.

It didn’t appear to be a Marilyn Manson worship topic as you asked the question ’and you?’
Music is a matter of opinion.
but anyway, I like some of his stuff, haven’t really heard much of it.
The video for Tainted Love is great.

At least he looks like an intelligent person when you hear him talking.
His music is ok
Anyway, If you post a pic of yourself naked, Marilyn Manson is happy

Marilyn Manson mmm well not my thing at all. im not into that thing, i dont feel the need to be that controversial and go beyond. His voice is bad, bad music production, just bad taste. should have been on eurotrash lol. clever only cos other people thinks he is in my eyes. i see no examples of intelligence with what he gets up to.
miss-misery said on September 30, 2006 17:10:
“This applies to the other guy above you too”
Hey, I don’t know if Marilyn Manson is intelligent or not, but you don’t seem to be very smart when you call me “guy”. Have you read my nickname?? It’s MISS misery. So I’m not a guy. You can read in my profile too that I’m a girl. But maybe, you’re far to intelligent, like your idol, to to that kind of thing.
BTW, I don’t know why, if I don’t like Marilyn Manson, I cannot say it politely, just like I did. You just made an statement about him, so we have the right to reply it, haven’t we?? Please don’t tell the others what to do, or which threads we can click or not. I’m beginning to be a bit fed up with people in this forum always telling the others what to do or what to say.
I still can’t see anything smart in Marilyn Manson, by the way. And your statement about him influencing the world is a bit pretentious, in my humble opininon :p
avahogree said on September 30, 2006 19:50:
“And you?” was for other Manson fans.
To Miss Misery: While making that post, I couldn’t remember your name. And I didn’t click on your profile back then. Plus, I’m a girl too, so “Guy” doesn’t exclusively mean Man where I’m from. Where your from, Spain, you probably don’t have a similar situation with the word “guy”, but to be frank, I do not care about Spain or spanish people. I went to Spain last year. You people are ruder and more stuck up than the French. So I don’t care if I hurt your feelings.
I still don’t get how this is so complicated for you to understand. IF YOU DON’T LIKE MARILYN MANSON : DON’T CLICK ON THE DAMN TOPIC!!
And to that rox_kurlywurkliv guy: I don’t care if you don’t like his voice or production style. “Singing” is not all about being Mariah Carey or Christina Aguilera or Marie Fredriksson. Some people have ATTITUDE. Manson has a lot of it. And I doubt you can truely discredit his production values because you have probably only heard 3 or 4 of his songs. And get with the times. It’s been many years since Manson has been ripping bibles up on stage.

Seriously... you may actually be on the wrong forum. This is a Roxette fans forum, we don’t need to be converted or to be saved. We don’t need no preachers...
And what do you expect in a forum when you come in your fashion, ruder than the Spaniards and French all together?? :DD That people blindly follow you?
In your American smalltown that guy may have a lot of influence, but in Europe I yet have to hear him saying anything at all. The only time I hear that dude talking was on Bowling For Columbine film, actually saying that he doesn’t consider himself to be so important as people want him to appear to be, because everyone was blaming him for the violence and the shootings... (it’s not a quote, you may forgive me if those were not his exact words, I’m not gonna check the DVD just now). And he was blaming Mr. Clinton.
We’re different cultures all around the globe, you know...
rox-kuryliw said on September 30, 2006 23:38:
american culture has gone to far in my opinion over all, the problem is its spreading as its seen as perfect culture, and guys like this manson bloke is fusing it. while one time this was R18 kind of stuff now its PG. maybe im getting to old lol.

If somebody is bitchin, it is the poster of this thread as well.
What I meant with my previous post was, that on a Roxette-site you can not expect people to admit that they think that Manson is smarter than Roxette.
[being Roxette the ones we listen to].
At that background, this is not the best place to post this question.
And if you ask the question: What about you?
This means a question, to all the readers of this post, not just the fans of Manson.
I don’t get why you post a topic about Marilyn Manson on this Roxette-related site, without ever having posted a topic before and being rude to other people.
Quote: “So I don’t care if I hurt your feelings”
Seems like you just registered to promote Marilyn Manson. Fine, but don’t be surprised if on a ROXETTE-related website people do not agree with you.
Anyway, I wouldn’t be surprised if this topic goes grey.
About Marilyn Manson:
An artist that is most known for 2 covers (not even original songs by himself) , Personal Jesus and Tainted Love can hardly be called an influencing person.
avahogree said on October 1, 2006 04:23:
We are on the off-topic forum of a Roxette forum. There are other Manson fans here, I’ve seen those topics made some years ago. I am looking for those fans of Roxette who are also fans of Marilyn Manson. You never had to click on this topic. You did. And this is turning into another one of those anti-American topics, yet again.
And this topic was not my first post. I was a lurker for a while before that aswell.
And I’m rude? You have to admit, Roxette have never made a Triptych about a man hating the world he’s in, creating a revolution, and that revolution spiraling out of control to the point where the world is destroyed. And all of that imagry and all of those metaphores are there in the lyrics for all to see. He puts a lot of time and effort into his lyrics and music and production and videos and books and movies and paintings, etc etc. His output cannot be compared with anyone else’s. If you don’t like what I’m saying, fine, but it is the truth. The man works his ass off just for idiots to say all of this crap about him promoting “American Culture” all around the world. If you believe that you know NOTHING about him. Manson is one of the most Anti-American-Value-System guys out there. He hates the government and he hates the way religion is used to manipulate people and the gun culture and excessive violence and the hypocriticalness of most Americans today. You’re an idiot if you think otherwise. And you’re the one moaning that there’s a Marilyn Manson topic on the off-topic forum. Get over yourselves. Get over yourselves. We can talk about “our world, our love and our life” here. And I love Marilyn Manson. I don’t see why you people have such a huge problem with one single music-related topic here on the off-topic forum.
And I hope you had fun watching the Bowling For Columbine DVD Harriej. I also hope you’ve found that not one word you typed above sounds anything like what Manson said in that movie.
And I have been to Spain. And I did find the locals INCREDIBLY rude and stuck-up. That’s my opinion. I’m entitled to my opinion and I don’t care if my opinion differs from yours. I have the right to have and voice my OWN opinion.
Either leave the ONE AND ONLY POSTABLE Marilyn Manson topic here on the off-topic forum, or discuss Marilyn Manson’s music (the whole point of this topic).
And I will not post naked pictures of myself. Who is that rude guy asking me to post naked pictures of myself? Why is HE allowed to say such things and yet I can’t even say Manson is smart?!!!!!!
miss-misery said on October 1, 2006 12:00:
Hey! May I disscuss Manson’s music?? Ok, I will. He sucks biiiiiiiiiiig time! I think I already said that, did I? :p
I don’t think you should come here to give politeness lessons. You’re proving to be veeeeery unpolite and rude. Insulting people when they don’t share your opinions, yeah, very polite. And a bit fascist, allow me to say. Well, I guess you voted Bush in the past elections. Your way of thinking is quite similar to his. And it really SUCKS, even more that Marilyn Manson (and he SUCKS big time, did I already say that? :p)
By the way, if you don’t reallylike Spaniards, please, don’t come to our country. We don’t want people like you here. We just like NORMAL people, who don’t want us to think just like them. And I’m beginning to think that we (Small talk users from ALL countries) don’t like people like you around either. We prefer people who respects the others’ opinions, not fascist people who insult when the others don’t share their opinions.
Hey, GUY!! It’s just my opinion. And I don’t really care if I hurt your feelings :p
Ferdan said on October 1, 2006 16:08:
Hey, I am not rude, I asked politely.
Generally, there is not problem when it comes to talk about other artists in this section but the way you engaged the subject... and your little history here, made it somewhat difficult to accept for other fans.. whose acceptance threshold levels are really low, by the way.
And I agree, Marilyn Manson is smart... and.... ummm so?
He gave out a good concert here in Argentina last time he came.
ally77 said on October 2, 2006 18:02:
Eric Cartman?? Didn’t you use to use TDR sometime back under a different name... the name rings a bell?
MM, some stuff it good, although not heard a great deal of it, prefer Ville Valo myself!
avahogree said on October 3, 2006 01:53:
^ No. I’m not the only person in the world who used to watch South Park. It was quite a good show a few years back. A lot of people used to watch it.
In summery, Manson is smart. Writes great lyrics. Writes great music. Puts on great concerts. Paints great pieces. Makes beautiful videos. Makes great movies. And is all-round the only true artist work the price of a CD today.
And that’s the way it is. If you don’t agree, that just means you’re WRONG!!!!!
And also, how would you feel if I said I wasn’t American? How would you feel if I said I was actually born and raised in Edinburgh, but am now living in LA? And how would you feel if I said I was living in Scotland when the elections were held here in 2004? So shut up with your American = Fascist bullshit Spaniard!!!

MANSON RULES!
Page 33 of the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine (in the smoking section) reads :
The last time the Smoking Section checked in with Marilyn Manson, he let the world in on his movie project, Phantasmagoria the Visions of Lewis Carroll. In just a few weeks, he’ll begin filming in Paris. But he has more up his sleeve. On Halloween, he’ll celebrate the opening of his new L.A. art gallery, located at the nearly satanic address of 667 Melrose (“I looked at the lease and said, you have got to be kidding me,” he says.)
More awesomely, Manson has been making music, including the new tune This is Halloween for the upcoming DVD release of Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas. “It will be the vampire national anthem,” says Mason. “Black panties all across the world will moisten at the sound of my voice.”
So far, he has half an album’s worth of tracks, one of which, “Rebels Without Applause”, addresses Manson’s notion that young bands suck these days. “I’m not the bitter guy that’s jealous of these other bands that are coming up and stealing my thunder,” he says. “I invented thunder and rain. I am THE black. And I’m here to vacuum the red carpet.”
If that’s not enough, Manson is releasing his own line of absinthe. “We hope to have it out in time for parents to give it to their children for Christmas.”

Even Per likes Marilyn Manson. So there.

You’re wrong there, he’s better known for Beautiful People and The Dope Show, both original songs.
avahogree said on October 6, 2006 01:51:
^ mOBSCENE was pretty huge when it was out. He’s never been a huge singles artist, his albums have always done a lot better than his singles, but he has released many songs that people would immediately recognize if they ever heard them (or seen the videos). The Beautiful People, The Dope Show, Rock Is Dead, Coma White, The Fight Song, mOBSCENE, This Is The New *Hit.
Don’t say you’ve never heard of the above songs until you search youtube for the videos. I guarantee you’ll immediate recognise all of them. It’s not like he’s even released a whole lot of singles (usually only 2-3 from each album).
Sparvogamarie said on October 6, 2006 03:53:
It probably depends on the country you’re in too. I’m in Australia and he was a huge singles artist while Mechanical Animals was out. After Holywood he kinda faded back into obscurity, though he seems happier that way.
Have you seen him live? I saw one MA show and one Grotesque show. They rocked.
usalauren said on October 6, 2006 03:54:
I work in a Hot Topic and we play Manson (clearly if I work in a friggen’ Hot Topic). He’s not bad, but not my cup of tea. However, whenever I’ve heard him give interviews, he always come’s off as a very smart, well rounded guy.
Do I agree with him influencing the world? Not so much. Hardley any of the “new” mall goth’s know who he is. I’m almost certain Kiss did theatrical shows/video’s long before Manson did. ^_~
Invisible_man said on October 8, 2006 00:35:
Atrocious music, lacking any melody... and let’s be clear what we are talking about... music. Maybe he does try to express himself in his lyrics.... and maybe he is “intellectual”... so what? His music still sucks...if you can call it music. And he looks and sound like nature’s freak.

I think this sentences just reinforces what I posted about you last week. Yeah, I bet you voted Bush in the past elections.
Luckily enough, not all Americans are like you. Believe me, I think your country is great, but unfortunately there are some people like you who spoil America’s image in the world. For example, Mr. Bush :p
Please, go to your room, listen to Marilyn Manson, and stop insulting people. Or go back to school to get yourself reeducated. Or commit suicide if you want... Like some other MM fans, by the way...
avahogree said on October 12, 2006 01:08:
^ I’m sure some Roxette fans have commited suicide too. It’s not that Listening to Manson = You’ll End Up Commiting Suicide, but it seems that’s the way most people try to pin it. They say he makes violent music and that the people who listen to it will end up hurting themselves - which is bullshit. If someone is depressed, they’re depressed. No one needs music to inspired suicide. But that’s what the idiots tell us. I wonder how many deaths have been caused by the bible......... or how many closeted teenage male madonna fans have found their “choice” (huh?) so disturbing and unacceptable that they chose to finish their life before it really began. Madonna doesn’t get blamed for that. Manson does. And I implore you to read my last post regarding my American citizenship status. I’M BLOODY SCOTTISH AND WASN’T HERE FOR THE ELECTION! God! How many times will I need to point that out before YOU TURN ON YOUR BRAIN??!!
And to that other guy: How many Manson songs have you heard? And you cannot hear ANY melody in The Beautiful People? What about The Dope Show? What about The Fight Song? Would you say all rock music doesn’t have a melody? What would you call a guitar riff? You have obviously listened to nothing but emotionless, synthetic crap all your life.
And did someone say Kiss made “imaginative” videos? Were you joking? Have you not seen their music videos? They make videos worse than the one for Dangerous.
Later, DUDES!!
