I understand to some degree this anger BUt they wasnt his words ?, But just looking at the news and stuff, i really do believe muslims are dying for a war in some places ! ! i really do think that and have for a long time, not all but alot. always so angery. You dont see any other religions so agressive or protesting at every little thing, so extreme, if u do let mw know lol
saw pictures or groups of muslim men burning made up pope statues etc . NOW if anyone else did that of Prophet Muhammad , Well they would be calling hell to break loose. You cant even draw a picture of Prophet Muhammad without getting shot , Just feels like walking on thin ice , free speech ? what ever happend to peacful protest?
who are the tolerant ones ?
who are the angery ones ?
Who are preaching with guns and voilence ? ?
Who respects others opinions?
Who respects right to free speech?
ps , im neither catholic of muslim.

maybe, but i did say not all !, maybe media does have a lot to play in this aswell, does make you wonder how much there role in this is .
brentnewtown said on September 16, 2006 12:45:
yeah but you also said ’Just feels like walking on thin ice of EVERY (my emphasis) muslim trying to please them ...’ and in its entirity your opinion did I think convey an attitude regarding Muslims in general.
I am not saying what you think is without basis. There is obviously a problem and maybe because of the magnitude of it people can’t help but become a bit prejudice. I am certainly not perfect in that regard and coming from Sydney where there is a huge Muslim population and being fed horror stories about Muslim gangs (via our crappo anti Mulsim media) I have found myself at times thinking disparagingly of Muslims but I remind myself of the Muslim people I know who are good people who draw on their beliefs in positive ways.
brentnewtown said on September 16, 2006 13:00:
Do people think that these ’angry’ Muslims have a point? If not what is the basis of the anger?
I ask this because I really don’t know the answer. On the one hand I want there to be a good point to their anger because it can then hopefully be solved by the West being more considerate and not involving itself in things that doesn’t concern it just for oil. But at the same time if it is just rebellion against a deterioration of fundamenalist religion that seems to be a characteristic of a some Muslim countries such as Iran then I dunno. I hate fundametlist religion.
Edit: It would be interesting to hear from any Muslims on the board who have an opinion on this.

ow ye part of it was my opinion of course, i know loads of muslims that are nice and my friends and they are not what i call extreme muslims.
but the rest i was asking questions ? ? ? nothing wrong with asking questions lol
makes me wonder how much is media fulled now though ? cos at end of day when i see images of muslim men burning flags pictures of stuff , doesnt put a nice friendly image in me head lol.

The bible is fanatic as well. There are many passages, were god wants that people who don’t beleive in him should be killed (even women and children!).
And Jesus says that no one may change the word of god written in the old testament. So christians can (and did) also interpret the bible in the way some (!!!) moslems do it with the coran.
We in the so called “western world” should be very very carefull what we say and how we say it, if it is about other cultures.

I think, that things were taking out of context, since that Pope guy was quoting someone from long ago, and were therefore not his own words.
However, I’m very sorry to see that once again, people get fanatical for things out of this world. That’s so sad.

Have you ever noticed how the pope never visits regions with really cold weather?
That’s because if he got outside and froze, he would become a pope-sicle.
(PS: I just LOVE pope jokes.)

he deosnt need to apologize the muslims go batty everytime u mention ied and muslim in the same sentence..its kinda lame peopel can’t speak out about them yet they can go and trounch the west and everyone else with impunity
MiracleMan said on September 17, 2006 20:11:
The true sadness is that there is NO understanding of the larger point the Pope was making:
”. . .spreading the faith through violence is something unreasonable. Violence is incompatible with the nature of God and the nature of the soul. God. . . is not pleased by blood - and not acting reasonably is contrary to God’s nature. Faith is born of the soul, not the body. Whoever would lead someone to faith needs the ability to speak well and to reason properly, without violence and threats.”
The fact that the quote in it’s FULL context was ignored and the more imflamitory aspect is taken as the WHOLE message.
The point he was trying to make is now completely lost.
The Pope apologized this morning. Some say it was a good start, the proper thing to do, while others are complaining that he only apologized for the REACTION, and not the words.
Still missing the point. And the fact that there were more firebombing of churches just proves this.

You shouldn’t generalise. I know Muslim people who are not radical or extreme. For whatever reason there seems to be a segment who are radical and extreme but they are in the minority.
