Come on how many people donate blood in there own country?
RobS said on September 6, 2006 08:56:
No i don’t. Mainly coz i’m not a fan of people sticking needles into me, and i hate the sight of blood.

I did when i was younger, but gay men are banned from donating blood, so i cant these days (because I’m not a virgin : shhh)

I’m a donor - am ORh negative and donate on a regular basis. Can’t give until a year after the baby now, although I’m still having constant blood tests and injections, so no escape from those needles grrr ;)

No. to be honest i dont think they would let me im prob underweight.
Am so terrified of needles and blood. I went with the other half once and i was the one who had to sit and have the juice and biscuit- everyone was asking if i was ok lol.

Yip them faggots are banned from being milked for blood here too... Oi, I’m not complaining!

I made it to 9 donations but have not done it for a year now as I was not allowed when I became a diabetic.... grrrrrrrrrrrr
@ Fliss, I sympathise with you, I know the feeling I am so sick of endless blood tests, it’s not the needles that bother me though, it’s the trekking to the hospital and the sitting and waiting and waiting!

Not allowed because the first known case of Mad Cow disease in England was in 1980 and I spent 2 years there (85 - 87) and according to the American Red Cross, if you’ve spent a collective total of more than 6 months in England (3 in others), you cannot donate blood.
ally77 said on September 13, 2006 19:38:
Wow I didn’t know that....
I think they recently implented some rule in the UK that you cannot donate if you have had a previous transfusion
whateveriam said on September 13, 2006 21:38:
Strange... you know in the UK (I don’t know if anywhere else does it) they add something to the blood that means it glows in the dark when it goes off...cool nuh?
I do want to donate my bloodjuice (damn Angry Kid!), as I am now old enough...just plucking up courage now!
coyboyusa said on September 13, 2006 22:33:
i can’t donate because I am gay :) not that i woudl i don’t want my blood going to keep a gay basher or criminal alive :)

Giving blood is a hobbyhorse of mine.
COY: If you were allowed to give blood, you wouldn’t? Your statement sounds like sour grapes more than your actual beliefs.
It’s not just gay bashers and criminals that get the blood, it’s your friends that get into accidents or the people you care about that need it in surgery.
ONE PINT OF BLOOD CAN SAVE 3 LIVES.
GIVING BLOOD IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS YOU CAN DO. I give whenever I can, and have done since I was 18. I’ve given over 2 gallons over the years.
Because my blood is CMV negative, it can be used for premature infants, the immunocompropmised, cancer patients. . . (Cytomegalovirus is a common virus that infects most people worldwide. CMV infection is usually harmless and rarely causes illness. A healthy immune system can hold the virus in check. However, if a person’s immune system is seriously weakened in any way, the virus can become active and cause CMV disease.)
Your blood is a resource that renews itself.
IF YOU ARE ABLE TO, THEN YOU SHOULD.
