The demise of the blue Smartie

First introduced in 1988, the blue Smartie was my favourite one, partly cos of the sheer amount of hyperactivity inducing colouring on them. Never have more than 40 in one go, thats my advice, cos you will feel terrible after your rampage, but I digress.

This year, they announced they were removing the blue Smartie from the tube. And I thought ’Great. First we loose the tubes and their nice tops and get some crappy hexagonal box, and now we lose the best Smartie!’. I was not a happy bunny. Then, they add insult to injury by replacing the blue one with a white one (whats the point?) and the removing all the artificial coluring out of them, so they look terrible, like someones got the colour turned down on the TV or something. Its not fair! SAVE THE BLUE SMARTIE!

OK this is pretty random, ah well, never mind eh?

It doesn’t anymore, they got rid of artificial flavours too, but you get the occassional one that tastes like orange, but usually it isn’t orange coloured.

The boot has well and truly been put in.

I heard they made the blue colour out of tar...ew. Still, I liked the blue one best!!!! :(

God when they first brought those blue ones out, it was like you would buy a packet and eat all the blues ones first, although they always sent my cousin a bit loopy with those colours.... the blue ones where the best....

I just got a liking for Skittles again! I shouldn’t be eating them but they are so nice!

haha I’ve been having a Smarties craving the last few days - had a couple of packs, but the new red eeew they have almost a strawberry taste - don’t like ’em anyway hrmpf!

what do you mean changed the packet?you mean health and safety finally caught upi with them and told them to change it coz too many people lost eyes and limbs from the lid popping from the tube.....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I have a photo of me and my sister with a tube of smarties in our hands, I’m about 2! I grew up with them, now at 29 I feel cheated.

Smarties are piggy poo. :(

The Tubes used to be white in the late 70’s... on the weekend i’ll scan the pic of me and sis with our smarties... retro! LOL! :D

Lol i remember blue smarties coming in as well, we used to look for them didnt they have smiley faces on them at some point? do they still have letters on the lids? i only ever get smarties at easter someone usually buys me a smarties egg lol.

The thing about the Smarties over here is that the orange Smarties aren’t flavoured orange– they all taste the same, like the others. It’s a nice egalitarian chocky.

WHAT? no tubes! i dont believe it. im sure ive seen them. why would u put them in a box that means u cant shoot the lid off at people when you have finished them lol. i hate change :( one comfort is that you can still get Space Raiders for 10p but with much less crisps in the packets lol.
