Per: "Roxette will never perform live again" ?
Sascha said on July 16, 2006 10:37:
And Per didn’t even speak about single performances. Only that TOURING seems quite unlikely for now. ;-)

and why are you surprised i i recall right marie also said she has no interest in touring or long promotions anymore because of her health

Per also said ’this’ sentence with the “closed chapter” in early may in an interview in the Netherlands, you can find it here on TDR:
http://www2.dailyroxette.com/article.php/2033
And here’s a quote out of it:
Q: Is there any chance Roxette will play NOTP again now with Marie releasing a new album and working on Roxette again, or is that pretty much a closed book?
Per: I don’t know. I think it’s a closed chapter. I don’t think Marie ever will tour again. I don’t think she will leave her family. But on the other hand I can’t speak for her, it’s really up to her, but I don’t think so, no.
4 times “think” in this little sentences ;-)
The Marie statement about touring and so on, you can find in this article:
http://www2.dailyroxette.com/article.php/2056
The most important parts of the article about this topic:
“I stressed too much in the past, Roxette took all my energy. One cannot live like that for long, and maybe, I think, there was some meaning in all what has happened, even if it may sound weird.”
And then she also said: “I want to go on living, my way, and that’s for sure not like I lived before. It is nice to take things easy” [...]
She said that she’ll live different, but not really how that’ll look like.
Marie explains that she definitely misses to be on stage in front of thousands of people. Of course it’s hard. “What we did with Roxette was great and I’m very proud of it. We celebrate our 20th anniversary in Autumn, can you believe it? [...] But everything went so fast. Then I met Micke and things changed, and when Josefin was born we totally calmed down.”
She said that she already calmed down in 1994 and will miss it to be in front of tousands of people, but she didn’t really say that she never ever will tour again - ok, it’s the logical consequence of “i’ll miss it”, but perhaps sometimes in the future... ;-)
We’ll see what will happen to Roxette after the GH, perhaps everything is a closed chapter then, but maybe not...

I think it’s still too close to Marie’s illness to speculate. She probably still feels a little raw over the whole thing and can’t imagine wanting a busy life again. After a few more years have passed and her illness gets further away from her, and her children are older and don’t need her as much, she may feel the urge to get back on stage more regularly. I don’t think anyone can speak for her at the moment, including herself.

And they could always do a live thing in Sweden and broadcast it / release it to DVD etc - that way marie would not be leaving her family at all so who knows yet ?

@Sascha: Well, if we are to believe what this Donna Radio announcer wrote in his blog, it does not mention at all tours. It’s says to “never perform live again”. I guess that surely includes single performances.

Personally, I think it’s entirely within the realm of possibility that Marie and Per might appear on stage together again at some point in the future... and even if it were to just sing ONE song together... that would be “Roxette performing live again.” It’s actually quite easy to imagine that happening.
Sparvogamarie said on July 17, 2006 04:31:
I agree with Lars-Erik, it’s very likely Marie will agree to one-off appearances and small gigs. She did some gigs in Spain so she clearly still wants to perform. Perhaps she’d even consider something like Night of the Proms where you can stay in one country and do half hour shows every night. I can imagine touring life is hard for her, it’s so exhausting.

@ Santi: Who knows if Per really said it that way or the blogger got it a bit wrong? Per just said something like he “believes not but doesn’t know”. And don’t forget 3 years ago Per didn’t even believe in Marie surviving the cancer, Roxette ever recording again... Everything can change, so we shouldn’t guess to much into the future!

Like Lars I say, I do believe we have great chances of seeing Roxette again.

Hej, I’m just stating what I read there, I am not giving my opinion on the thing. Besides, he did write the words I translated in bold. That’s why I pointed it out.
@Pelle: yes... lmao!!! :DDDD

Hi folks,
Just found an interesting message from a Radio Donna host (Belgium) on his weblog. In march Per was in Belgium to promote Son Of A Plumber and he told the host (Mark Heyninck) Roxette will never perform live again. It’s a closed chapter, according to Per. The host cut it out of the interview broadcast because it was a bit messy.
The message is, of course, in Dutch and can be read on this page:
