Has it been deleted because of the upcoming GH?
purplemedusa said on June 7, 2006 14:25:
Yes I know that the South African compilations has been deleted however there’s still a few copies laying around in shops if anyone’s interested! LOL! (Yeah including the TBH with the insertsleeve of P&M)
arnie said on June 7, 2006 17:26:
TBH & TPH are also still avaliable in Argentina, among RS on CD & Tape (only RS)
Bunio said on June 7, 2006 18:14:
yes, they are deleted and will be replaced by the new GH colection.
Room_service said on June 7, 2006 18:28:
I don’t think TBH and TPH will be deleted. You can’t replace a double CD compilation with only one CD (like the forthcoming GH).
If they delete those volumes, some songs (like Breathe and Little Miss Sorrow) will become hard to find, ’cause I suppose they won’t be included o the new release. Same happened with DBUGTTC, and that’s the reason SDLHA and I Don’t Want To Get Hurt are not in catalogue anymore! That’s a shame...
Anyway, there is a lot of stock of TBH and TPH here in my country. I don’t think EMI will throw all those CD’s to the trash...

This wouldn’t surprise me, but I think it was indeed a pity that they deleted Don’t bore us - THAT was a great compilation, and the previously unreleased songs made it even more worth.
I rarely listen to the Ballad Hits and the Pop Hits, simply because I like to alternate slow songs and rock songs.. that’s what makes Roxette great, their ability to do both, if you separate them, it gets a bit boring after while..
purplemedusa said on June 8, 2006 13:57:
I’m with you SK... rarely listen to these two compilations because of that very reason- seems more like it was an ego thing for Per & Marie!! I do like the interaction the songs have with eachother - plus i don’t exactly buy certain of the supposed choices as balads & pop tracks...!!
Sascha said on June 8, 2006 14:52:
I’m with you both. The seperation of TBH and TPH was a failure and I think Roxette and EMI realised that afterwards. Look at the sales gap between TBH and TPH! To many people “pop” means plastic and Britney, nothing flattering for Roxettes up-tempo hits at all. A main strength of Roxette’s albums is the variation of different styles and tempi. That got lost here!
It’s no secret that in general 1 disc compilations sell better than 2 disc sets – even at the same price. The average consumer wants an ultimate all-in-one package and not decide between different discs. DBU-GTTC was such a package, ROX20 could be again!
I just checked different sites and on several of them TBH & TPH are missing. So the out-of-print theory could be true. That doesn’t mean that the existing store copies will be demolished...

Hey Sacha, yeah ofcourse however we know from experience that these copies won’t be around for much longer - so the gold diggers can start buying them up! LOL!
BTW you made some good points - not sure if anyone noticed but Don’t Bore Us is still one of the biggest sellers on Ebay, ending with a couple of bids! The more i think of it I think it’s actually not all that bad idea to release an updated GH!!

BTW this topic reminded me of an article i wrote for TDR in September last year BUT it never got published; I received an email from EMI South Africa, confirming that Roxette’s ENTIRE CATALOGUE has been deleted here... and at that particular moment the only things that was still in print was TBH & TPH. Ofcourse TBH & TPH are now deleted too so I’m wondering if there’s some other plans for remastered albums?
BTW wondering why the TDR team never picked up on this???

Thank heavens for Gmail that saves emails... here’s the original email!

Hi Hanrich
At present we have the following local pressings available on Roxette:
THE BALLAD HITS
THE POP HITS
All other titles are available on import. They are deleted from local manufacture, but are available to order on import. At this stage there are no plans to re-release any Roxette titles locally.
Kind regards

I don’t think releasing TBH and TPH was a mistake and I can’t agree that these compilations are boring... And btw Roxette aren’t the first to release a best ballads compilation... TBH got very close to top 10 in UK (HAND failed to reach top 20). TPH unfortunately flopped because of lack of promotion.
But on the other hand, the tracklists could be BETTER. I would be glad if they’d chosen these songs:
TBH: 1. ATAY 2. LTYH 3. IMHBL (this version of IMHBL was released after LTYH, so it should be the third track) 4. FLAF 5. SMT 6. QOR 7. AU 8. CBB 9. RTY (this song’s a ballad, it was included on BES. OK, it’s maybe a mid-tempo song, but the melody, Marie’s voice, the lyrics and those fantastic strings fit on TBH album). 10. Vulnerable 11. YDUM 12. WICF 13. Anyone 14. Salvation 15. MATAH 16. Breathe
TPH: 1. ON 2. TL 3. DFS 4. Dangerous 5. Joyride 6. TBL 7. COYH 8. HDYD 9. F’93 (I know, it wasn’t a big hit, but there are bigger flops in the Roxette catalogue) 10. SIMC 11. Fireworks (#30 in UK, #18 in Austria, #16 in Finnland, I’d really like to know why they didn’t include it) 12. JA 13. Stars 14. TCOTH 15. RS 16. LMS
SDLHA was a megaflop, I’d hate to see it there... Please, don’t kill me for this, I know many of you love SDLHA
Room_service said on June 8, 2006 18:45:
I totally agree with WICF, even in the tracklistings! I don’t think the concept of “ballads” and “uptempo” as separate compilations was a mistake. In fact, I really liked that when released. I also believe “RTY” is more a ballad, it seems out of place in TBH. I also miss “Fireworks”, a pretty underrated track.
So, if the new GH won’t be released till October, why TBH and TPH were already deleted? It doesn’t make sense to me. Anyway, maybe they stopped the production, but there is a lot of stock in the stores.

Marie Davis I can proove you wrong about always being nice... dare you to dare me to say what’s on my mind!!!
Pfff some people need to go back to school and learn READING skills; I refuse to repeat myself!
Secretkeeper81 said on June 8, 2006 22:35:
Hey no problems, I love both SDLHA and Fireworks, it’s just a matter of tastes after all ;) I see there are some people who -like me- prefer to alternate ballads and rockier tracks, others who like the idea of an album with some kind of “uniform” mood.. we were all satisfied in the end because both things were released..
On my part I also prefer the Don’t bore us compilation because I think both HAND and Room service were weak albums so I don’t miss any tracks from those when listening to Don’t bore us!! Of course some people might not agree though ;)

What does GH mean?
There are many copies of the Ballad Hits on eBay for pretty cheap.
ditroia said on June 20, 2006 10:50:
They’d be deleted in Australia, but you can still find copies of the Australian 1 Disc TBH and TPH and the EU 2 Disc TPH in most stores. On The Other hand, HAND and RS Have Disappeared.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if they simply forgot to add it to the discography...
