MiniDisc VS iPod Vs CD (w/Mp3) Vs Tape Recorder

Hello. Well, let’s just say that I am considering buying a MiniDisc used off of eBay for about 20 USD. The reason I am wanting to buy it...because it appears that it can record longer than my cassette recorder.
Then again, I am wanting any opinion. What is better to record audio tape recorder, digital recorder (the kind with the memory cards) or MiniDisc?
I am also considering money, the digital recorders even for a small memory (64 MB) costs 50 USD plus here. It appears the MiniDisc can record more than 64 MB and costs less. But I want someone’s opinion.
Also, I was thinking that I could load music up on the MiniDisc, is that right? Because the software lets you convert the mp3s to their format, right? But, I definately don’t have money for an ipod ;).

My mini disc is stuck in a drawer unused for around 3 years! They are too heavy to carry in your pocket...
Give me my Sony MP3 with 6GB any day of the week!

MDs are different, older ones record ONLY music and up to 80 minutes only. Newer ones can record a lot longer, and very new ones in mp3 as well. (Net-MD).

There’s also the new Hi-MD by Sony, which is digital and uses 1 GB discs - it can record in WAV straightup and has a external mic input....

Thank you for your input. No one has addressed, so would a mp3 player be better that records? Is it possible to buy one that is records for a long time for around 60 USD? :D Thank you!

Well, I don’t know much about the MiniDisc or iPod since I don’t own either. Cassettes have pretty much gone the way of the 4 / 8 tracks (does that tell you how old I am? *lmao*). I pretty much use a CD player and have Nero and can make “standard” cd’s (like you buy in a store with x amount of tracks and can play on just about any player), I can make mp3 discs where I can stuff as many songs on a CD as possible which results in one track about 70 minutes long. Same with I think it’s .wav files as well.
However, some CD players have issues reading that, so I use the .cda format (which is standard cd).
