Umm..."Listen to your heart" goes platinum!!

DHT’s Listen to Your Heart has certified platinum status in the US. It’s marked as such on this week’s Billboard Hot 100. It also moves up a notch to 21.

However, now that I’m thinking about it, Roxette’s original did not sell a million copies (platinum) - it didn’t even go GOLD!

But at least it went to #1 :)

im not impressed by that song one bit and hate the voice
the Fading like a Flower remix of dancing Djs is pretty good

So Listen To Your Heart by Roxette didn’t go platinum??? Oh, my!!!

On the other hand, I didn’t expect D.H.T. to do that well :D And I just wonder how much the fact that it’s Roxette hit added to their success?

I’m putting it down to the fact that people didn’t buy as many singles 15 yrs ago ;-)

And according to the notes platinum is 200,000, or am I missing something??

it also comes into fact that there was a limited cassette pressing of the single back in 89, and cassette single were the popular format of the time it would have gone platinum if people could have gotten their hands on it

Wasn’t the amount of CDs you have to sell for Gold and Platinum awards changed since 89 in the US, too? Here in Germany, it’s now down to 100.000/200.000 copies for albums and 150.000/300.000 copies for singles - back then, you had to sell 250.000/500.000 copies!

According to www.riaa.com a singel most sell 500 000 copies to achive gold stauts and 1000 000 copies for platinum status, but according to www.billboard.com a singel most be downloaded 100 000 times for gold status and 200 000 times for platinum status.

Now I don’t know wich one is right but I think that billboard changed thier numbers not so long ago and I know that riaa often are bad at keeping ther homepage up to date. So if the numbers at billboard are right I don’t find it strange that “Listen to your heart” has reached platinum status, I mean 200 000 downloads are not that much (I-tunes alone has had more than 5000 000 000 downloads). And you can se on the billboard singel chart that there are many singels that has gone gold and platinum, much more than for just a year ago.

So I think the reason fot DHT:s Platinum much has to do with that it only has to sell 200 000 copies and that people in the US really like I-tunes.

Roxette has never had an platinum singel in the US, only “The Look” and “It must have been love” has reached gold status. But when they were realesed the gold status was 500 000 sold copies, so they have sold more than DHT has.

Heard and saw the song today for the first time.
It doesn’t even come close to the performance of Roxette. In my opinion they are destroying the song.

A re-release by Roxette would have been better then this cover.

harr you’re right the world is in die need of new rox material

Nice news!

I have been listening to DHTs version and although I like it I’m getting sick of it now! So I decided to put on my Rox DVD and watched the LTYH vid. It still gives me goose bumps! I could never get sick of this song! I hope Rox brings out a new power ballad for their 20th!!!

Iiiiiiiid love for rox to bring the biggest mother fu*cker of a power ballad out for the 20th birthday , over produced over sang, EVREYTHING :-D id love it.

not impressed with DHT either.....the ballad version sounds like a Pop (or should that be ’Pap’?) Idol audition.........emotionless and trite. Marie sings the song with balls......”and there are voices that want to be heard.....” that section of the song blows u away. DHT sends me 2 sleep. Sorree to those who like it. I will buy it tho.....ya know....to help fund Per’s nice car collection:-)))...and 2 feed the goldfish too....there are 4 of them now. Xpensive business raising fish, teehee
