What annoys you in your job? for me it is the management, there is too many of them for my like and they all seem to do sod all, my department have recruited at least 3 team leaders last week, 3 about 3 months ago, 2 deputy team leaders, a PA for some business support management that does sod all and there is now and advert for a MI job closing in November!
I’d think they would be better spending all this extra cash on training people to do the job we do instead of the management who seem to drink coffee every hour!

Well, it’s at a place that works with wood and stuff. I’ll either be taking stuff off the tables after they’ve cut it and stack it, or sweepin up saw dust. It’s a start... I don’t mind Manual Labor :o)

I swear as soon as you get the title management you lose the plot...

Most annoying where I work is management’s employment of euphemistic vernacular to convey unpleasant or unfavorable expressions. Such as...
Proactively leverage our synergies: Fewer people doing the same work, so that we can lay off some employees.
Down-sizing, Right-sizing: Laying off employees.
Positions made redundant: Functions that can be assumed by others, so that we can lay off the people who formerly performed those functions.
Exploit the geographic paradigm: Send much of our work to India, so we can lay off people here. (Exploit the geographic paradigm... isn’t that a beautiful expression?)
“In the context of our aspirations, we are still in the process of seeking an understanding as to what the way forward might be.”
I actually heard a corporation president say this once, at a town hall meeting (200 attendees) after someone from the audience asked him a question. It was so stunning an example of glitteringly vacuous fluency that I wrote it down verbatim immediately, for future memorization and use. It was this particular pansy executive’s mealy-mouthed bullsh*t way of saying.... “I just don’t know.” Why the hell couldn’t he have said, “I just don’t know” ?
Over the years at various offices, I have come to actively watch for this sort of stuff, and write it down – my catalogue is sickeningly extensive. I would be extremely happy to hear from the rest of you, regarding similar things your management has said to you. We obviously have our differences on this site, as our arguments have indicated, but I believe we all feel repulsion on the job when our bosses do not simply say exactly what they mean, using ordinary language.
And, has anyone here encountered an “efficiency upgrade” program called Six Sigma? In reality, it’s a consultant program your management employs when they want to fire a bunch of people, to cut costs. Have you experienced it?

Because he didn’t want the common “layperson” to understand the fact that he just didn’t know. So, rather than saying that, he opted to say something verbose to get his point across.

My boss telling me to do something even though its already been done, just that he’s too lazy/stupid to check and see. Or him saying that i’ll organise this.. 2wks later I end up doing it myself coz he “didn’t get round to it”
