Make love! - funny advertising

During the last fifteen years the population of Ukraine decreased from 52 to 48 million. And now someone decided that the ’social’ advertising should improve the situation. Nearly a month ago ago on a quite a lot of big-boards in the streets of Kiev instead of the usual advertising appeared the text started “There is a lack of Nobel laureats/’Oscars’/football players/astronauts etc (different variants) in our country” or “There must be 52 million of us” and then “Let’s make love!)” I doubt it’ll work the way it was planned but at least it’s still making me smile a couple of times almost every day when i see it.

the aging population is a growing problem, especially in places like Singapore where Asian women are throwing off the chains and becoming liberated. These women don’t want to get married and sit at home popping babies. So much so that the number of 30-ish, unmarried women is sky high. So the government has been carrying out campaigns and providing incentives for these young women to get married and have babies. it’s been going on for years!!

i would of thought a lower population is better ! Norway ,sweden have very low populations compared to there country size , i think UK is to over populated. aslong as the age is spread out evenly , trouble is after world war 2 they had the baby boom, my grandmother alone had 11 kids after the war , so you have all that generation to get old all in one go if you know what i mean.

The Netherlands is very crowded too with 16 or 17 million people on a small area.

I’d say that a part of The Netherlands is very crowded, and the other is just cows! :P
I don’t think that Asian countries need any kind of advertisements to have kids. I think that not having them may be even good not only for them but for us as a whole as well. I sometimes think that it’s a bit cruel or at least rather irreflexive to bring kids to this world to die of hunger.
Take into account that not long ago* people were dying at 50 years old and so (think of women’s age of end of fertility as a naturally selected feature and therefore natural prospect of life... that it, without today’s medical enhancement), now normally they last longer. Because of that, in the past a lot of kids were needed to replace the ones who didn’t make it even to 50, and in general was good to have many kids cuz lives were short and parents had to be replaced as well.
But in the last 500 years many things have changed in our culture. We are 14 times more people now (roughly) due mainly to modern medicine, we are nearly everywhere that can be inhabited in the planet and we do know that the Earth is finite (A Basque proved that circumnavigating the globe short after year 1500). Thus resources are finite.
* I am talking in species history terms.
