Ok...this sounds like it could be interresting. Who is this person and what is her story?
ncurran said on May 31, 2005 18:35:

I dont know if she’s innocent or guilty too, but I personally disagree with the sentence either. I mean 20 years for case like that?
anyway, watching her in the TC made me remember the movie Broke Down Palace (it has Claire Danes).

There’s actually quite a few different rumours about this case going around. One being that is was hers and she’s done it a few times.
You say 20yrs is a bit much?! How much would it be if it happend in the UK or USA?
Santi said on June 2, 2005 12:22:
I don’t know if she’s guilty or not, but if they send her to jail for 20 years it’s gonna be a huge backlash for Indonesian tourism.... first a tsunami, then they treat foreigners like this... bad move.
Majdy said on June 3, 2005 04:42:
I dont know know about US and UK law for case like this, so anyone can answer?
But, *I* think its TOO much. 20 years in jail fits more to murderer or other crimes like that. Well, I know that drugs has bad side effect, and many people died cuz of that. but some of them choose for that right? I mean if Corby sell me a drug, its up to me to buy that or not.
@santi : it will effect Indonesian tourism. now many tourist scared to visit indonesia.
ncurran said on June 3, 2005 21:58:
well the maximum sentence for trafficking a class B drug is 14 years in the UK, so its not much different.

I think she’s guilty, but maybe they should let her serve her sentence back in Australia.
ROXIROX1998 said on June 5, 2005 03:39:
In Canada, a sentence like this one doesn‘t often apply for even a murder, we‘re actually in a big debate over the release of a murderer name Karla Omolka for the murder of 2 or 3 women (one‘s being her own sister ) and she spent 12 years in prison (and prison in Canada are often refer to as hotels compare to other countries)
I think when you go traveling in other countries people think they‘re protected and that the rules of their own country applie wherever they go, each country have their own laws and people must be very carefull about their actions when they travelling, sometimes, even your own country can‘t do much to help you when you‘re in an another one. Everybody should be very carefull about the traditions and/or laws when they‘re travelling... or you could pay a big price for not knowing...

I don’t *know* her, but i sure know of her, she’s been on the australian TV almost non-stop for the past 5 months.
I think she’s innocent, but sometimes after reading/hearing things, i think she’s not.
