@coyboy, I couldn’t agree more. My favourite bands have almost ALWAYS been american, ie Nirvana, RHCP, The doors, etc.
However, there is alot of ’trash music’ around. I call it this as I don’t wish to deride particular genres (and everyone’s opinion as to trash differs!) I sometimes feel that ’generic’ types of music eminating from the states, pop-punk and hiphop mainly sometimes override quality music that is being played in other places.
I think it would be better if music channels did research what they played a little more widely, instead of telling us whats cool, they might ask us.
However, I appreciate that I’m dreamin’!

2 Author of the topic - LOL you made me laugh!
90% of Backstreet Boys Hit singles were written by Swedish composers... a few even by Germans
90 % of Britney’s hit singles were written by Swedes. Sweden MADE Britney.... not America LOL
Sad Fact is that when if comes to music, the only way for Swedish composers to break the American market is to write music for a bunch of American-Friendly artists. Swedish artists get no break in US or UK.
Bon Jovi went to Sweden to get their huge come back hit “It’s my Life”... and a few other great songs off of their last few albums.
I’m sorry, but America is not best producer of music. And if you want a huge hit you get Swedish or German producers to write it for you. And when compared to European stuff.... American music is pure crap.

Its true. I like america a little, but I cant stand american musik. Sweden, UK and Germany are the best music producers!

@ Coyboy - Seether is South African. They use to be called Saron Gas.
I love Bon Jovi, Manson, Metallica, Aerosmith, and most of the stuff you’d find on a Dawson’s Creek soundtrack. Lots of great underrated artists out there.
Later ;o)

@ Coyboy - yes, that’s SA Band Saron Gas.... I think it was 3 years ago they got a HUGE record deal in the States. On one condition: they had to change their name from Saron Gas to something else... they chose Seether.
From sing365.com:
Such is the standpoint of Shaun Morgan, singer-guitarist-songwriter of the South African band Seether. His immediate, cerebral writing saturates the band’s U.S. debut, Disclaimer .... After forming in 1999, Seether (originally Saron Gas, a name they plucked from the back of a sound effects CD not knowing its sinister connotation) quickly gained notoriety in their home country’s anaemic rock market. The band’s South African release, Fragile, became one of the best selling titles of the year, and Seether emerged as a top live draw....
Cheers :o)

there are many good US bands, but I dislike the way they dominate music TV. I think there is a bias towards the States’ musical output. This is obviously because most music channels are american though.
