Sweden + Norway?

Today’s online edition of Stockholm-based newspaper “Dagens Nyheter” includes as Webbfrågan (the web question) the following:

“Tycker du att Sverige ska ingå union med Norge igen?

Ja 52% (3489)
Nej 44% (2932)
Ingen åsikt 5% (307)
Totalt antal röster: 6728”

(Do you think that Sweden will form part of a union with Norway again?)

Did I miss something about this? Or is just a supposition? Any comments?

Norway celebrates the 100 anniversary of the (friendly and peaceful I think) dissolution of the “forced” union with Sweden in June. Norway was forced to this union somewhen in the 19th century when the country was ceded to Sweden when Denmark lost at the Napoleon wars. I think it was still independent and had its own king, but was kind of dependant of Sweden. [Should read some parts of history again, my memory is starting to forget way too many things :S] Anyone can bring some more details? :)

I guess they refer to have another union with Norway..

Oh yes, next tuesday is 17th of May, I had forgotten :D

May 17th 1814 and June 7th 1905 are the important dates in Norway’s history. Our constitution was written at Eidsvoll May 17th 1814. But we first got free from union with Sweden June 7th 1905. And then we finally got our own king again. Funnily we chose of the danish princes at the time, and he become King Haakon the 7th of Norway that June day almost 100 years ago.

Celebrations of the 100 have started in many ways already, and will last almost all year. A free outdoor concert with a-ha in August are amongst the biggest crowd attractions.

I think I read somewhere thre would be a concert with Sweden’s and Norway’s most representative bands for that event (Roxette and A-ha). I wish that could really happen!

Hmmm, yeah, why not?! Norway is beautiful and people there are nice and friendly! :)
And if it also would mean that we get rid of our membership in EU I would say yes immediately! ;-))
