Beyoncé, you make me sick!

(London) Destiny’s Child star Beyonce is fast becoming the new Queen of Pop but she isn’t interested in homosexual fans.
In an interview with The Sun newspaper she took particular aim at the now infamous MTV Awards kiss between Madonna and Britney Spears.
“I have standards. There are things I will not do,” the 22 year old singer told the paper on the eve of a British tour.
Asked about how she justifies those “standards” with her sexually explicit clothes the striptease she performs in her act, she says she has permission from God to strip on stage – but not to share a lesbian kiss.
“It’s entertainment and I believe God is OK with that,” she says of her act which has been described by various reviewers as “raunchy” and “vulgar”.
“I honestly believe He wants people to celebrate their bodies, as long as you don’t compromise your Christianity in the process.”
But, about a lesbian kiss Beyonce is adamant.
“I couldn’t do what Britney and Madonna did at the MTV Awards. I knew it was going to happen from rehearsals but it was still a shock when they did it.
Her music is regularly played at gay clubs in both the UK and the US helping make her a multi-millionaire and paying for a lavish apartment in queer popular Miami Beach.

So, my (eBay’s) question is:
If God gave her the permission to strip or to masturbate in a music video, isn’t there also a possibility that God gave Madonna and Britney to share some lip on lip action?
If she wants to follow her Christian God, she should remember, Jesus never preached anything about homosexuality but he did preach love, acceptance, and refraining from judgment.
I won’t be going to Destiny Child’s concert, a concert I have the ticket for already, but I will throw the ticket away.

Obviously this hurts homosexuals much more then others. The thing for gay people is, they hear this from all sides in their daily life’s.. can’t we all just respect each other for who we are and be more accepting?
The frustrating thing with Beyoncé is, a huge fan base of hers is actually gay, a huge amount of gay people have contributed to her huge success. Gay people deserve much more respect from such a cow.

I totally agree with eBay on this. I personally hate the woman anyway, and can’t stand her music, and this has not helped at all. All she does on stage is stand there, shake her ass, and whine. Would be interesting to hear her try and sing a song properly.
Anyway, don’t want this to turn into a slanging match. Just wanted to say that I agree with eBay. I think a lot of her fans are homosexual, and after reading this they might turn their backs on her. Well, I can but hope..........
Santi said on May 13, 2005 13:42:
Oh well, and can’t you simply ignore her or stop listening to her?
I mean, there are thousands of singers, you can choose. If you find her to be so stupid, just move on. In my case, it would be like discovering that I band that I like declare themselves to be nazis (since I look so southern-european). Well, I would just go and sell second hand any CD I own of them, and end of the story.
Just make sure you don’t become the whiners yourselves, it’s not worthwhile. Besides, I guess she’s free to say whatever she wants to, and that’s her own problem, not yours (it would be nice if her sales decreased by 20% in her next release :PP).

Well I’m gay and I thought of the kiss as being cheap considering that they both have male partners. Maybe you just misunderstood her and what she wanted to say is that she was above pretending to be gay for some questionable publicity.

I think Beyonce is as entitled to her point of view as you are to yours Ebay. We’re not talking about how she feels about gay people but how she feels about kissing a woman...yeuch. I would feel the same way. Having an opinion on gays - for or against - is not the same as actually kissing someone of your own sex if you are straight. I agree with her. I am not gay and I would never kiss another woman.
nancy_girl said on May 13, 2005 18:47:
i’m not gay, i’m bi and i’ll kiss as many girls as i want to and wouldn’t give a – about what anyone says. especially not this chick whose music i can’t stand. but i don’t agree with her at all, that sounds pretty homophobic. if she said she wouldn’t kiss girls because she’s straight that would be fine - but her reason are just stupid.

very interesting comments although , what ’typical black christian woman’ means i have no idea , as my friend across the street who is a ’black christian woman’ is umm just like me ? so makes no sence that. Lets not put people in sterotype boxes as its far to easy and predjudice to do so. I hope she doesnt say ’typical gay chrisian bloke’ things about what i do , im sure she doesnt ;-).
Sparvogamarie said on May 14, 2005 16:04:
Did Beyoncé actually say that she is against homosexuality? I can’t see anything from these quotes against being gay, just that she didn’t like the kiss. The kiss was pretty tasteless, does she have a problem with the fact that they are 2 women, or just that it was really trashy? Maybe we are judging Beyoncé before we have all the facts, I never heard that she has said anything anti gay before.
LittleSpooky said on May 15, 2005 06:08:
I don’t think it’s a question of whether or not she’s against homosexuality... but the hipocracy of her statement claiming that “God says it’s okay for me to act like a whore on stage.” I kind of have MAJOR doubts about people who make the claim that “God tells them it’s okay to do anything”.
So why doesn’t God say: “Go to McDonald’s, jump up on the counter and take a dump in the register”?
MiracleMan said on May 15, 2005 16:27:
Permission from God to strip on stage—isn’t that from Eccleastes?
“And the Lord spake unto me and commanded me to go forth and make my actions like that of the dog in the street, ready for the seed of another dog. Maketh thy hips in quick undulation as if an unseen righteous lover, most vigorous with thy loins, were astraddle thy most sectret places. Do this to the thunder of the drum, the lyre making sweet harmony as thou dost praise the enflamed, sweatly loins of another, and do this whilst wearing as little as thy network censors will allow.”
Or maybe it’s in the book of Judges. Gotta be in the Bible somewhere.

@ Santi
Yes, I have actually stopped listening to her. When she is played at the radio, I have to switch stations and the Album I owned of hers (luckily it was just one) I actually threw away.
@StillFar
You are right, the kiss might have been pitiable, but it was still great entertainment, otherwise, the world would not have put it on the cover of every news paper after it happened.
@ ragdoll
Of course Beyoncé is entitled to her own point of view. But she is not just talking about kissing another woman. When she says she doesn’t have permission of God to kiss another woman, but the permission to act like a complete slut this just shows that, obviously she is trying to justify her own videos, shows etc. Also, if she saw the kiss in rehearsals already, why was it still a shock to her at the actual show if she is completely fine with homosexuality and doing things for entertainment sakes? It is clearly more than just having God’s permission or not. Besides that, Christina, Britney and Madonna clearly shared this very brief mouth on mouth for entertainments sake also.
@Sparvogamarie
Of course she would never clearly say, she is ‘against homosexuality’. No celebrity or public figure can say this without receiving a huge amount of complaints. I truly believe, this is her way of expressing her opinion how she feels about homosexuality.
@ LittleSpooky
Good point, but has it ever occurred to her, if God gives her permission to do whatever she does on or off stage, maybe God gave Christina, Britney and Madonna permission to kiss also? For entertainments sake? (I hope you can see my sarcasm here ;-)
I believe Beyoncé to be a smart person, therefore, she knew exactly how this statement could be picked up by the public. I can’t help but think, she came out with this homophobic statement, in such a way that she could easily justify herself or claim, it is taken completely out of context.
LittleSpooky said on May 16, 2005 19:59:
eBay: God probably did. But like I said, I have some “issues” with people who claim “God told me to do.....”
Mostly, it results in harm to someone / something when those words are spoken.
eBay said on May 17, 2005 07:16:
I totally agree with you Spooky, I have experienced that myself in life.
Actually, you and I had spoken a lot a few years ago, I was more known under a different user name.. ;-)

Personally I would not want to see Beyonce on stage no matter what she was doing, I cannot stand her... :(
DaminehGessle said on May 18, 2005 00:24:
I don’t like Beyonce because she is everywhere and she got big for no particular reason just like other artists these days. And when there were concerts for causes other than publicity such as 46664, which Dave Stewart, Brian May and Roger TAylor and a few other oldies started, Beyonce and Bono where the ones mentioned in every magazine and every program and I got more mad over that.
But think about it.... The Sun isn’t a very reliable source. I wouldn’t trust The Sun.
Sparvogamarie said on May 19, 2005 09:20:
I agree with Damineh, the Sun is not very reliable. I did a google search on that quote, and I can only find it in the Sun and the National Enquirer, probably the two trashiest tabloids in the world. I’m not saying she didn’t say it, but there is a good chance these tabloids have made up the quote or twisted her original comments. Remember a tabloid also said Marie had breast cancer when she didn’t, you can’t trust everything you read.
Sparvogamarie said on May 19, 2005 09:21:
I also found this quote: Beyonce said she was misquoted. She said, “I have never judged anyone based on his or her sexual orientation and have no intention of starting now. I have a lot of gay and lesbian fans and I love them no differently than my straight fans.”
roxtexanet said on May 20, 2005 20:40:
@miracleman: God, the tears just won’t stop streaming down my cheeks from laughing so hard. That was brilliant. Thank you for that.

i think beyonce is saying hurts alot of homosexuel
people.
the bible is made by people and and they use the rules the way it fits for them.
i really think that if there is a god ( i hope so) that he or she just want you to have fun in your life as long as you don’t hurt anyone.
by the way isn’t beyonce always singing about women and how great and independence they are
that they don’t need a man to function in life.
Well there you have it. i think she is in denial
