Can anyone recommend some good German films? I am thinking of studying to become a german teacher later this year....my german used to be really good, but i’m a bit out of practice as i havent spoken it for nearly three years, and i was thinking of ordering a few dvds to get back into listening to the language.

Okay, some good ones that were in the cinemas here in Ireland and the UK were:
Run Lola Run (Lola rent) - was even voted film of the year by the viewer of the Irish Film Centre!, Good Bye Lenin, The Edukator, Downfall, (Der Untergang).
Downfall is an extremely well done film that had me to tears at the end of it. Such a humbling film to watch with great and beautiful actresses in it!
Oh and don’t forget the all time classic: Das Boot! About the submarine U96 in the 2nd worldwar.

haven’t watched many German films.. I liked Blueprint and Bandits (cool music!)

“Bandits” is fun... :)
Otherwise... hm... “Der Bockerer” (part 1 and 2) is quite a good film... But it’s Austrian, so I dunno if it’s any help for improving the so-called “high German”... ;)
Can’t come up with more... not exactly a fan of German (or Austrian) films... most of the actors are really crappy IMHO.
