hi human units

when asked which non english speaking country makes great music written in english (im not from sweden i even dont know much about this country) id say sweden though no doubt about it after sweden its difficult ta say maybe one of the scandinavian countries
how about you? interesting for me what you guys think

yeah I also think that would be in scandinavians...

Them, and Germany.

sweden gave us aqua and germany gave us milli vanilli so do either of them deserve much praise :)~

Mmm would also include Germany (Kraftwerk!!!!! & Nena), Italy (Eros, Tiziano)... mmm few years ago i would’ve add some South American countries but my taste inmusic developed sinse!!

Latvia...i’m thinking of BrainStorm mainly, but they’re enough to make me think so :)

I guess Sweden has the most succesful english music (of the non-english speaking countries):

Roxette, Ace Of Base, Europe, Abba, Robyn, Clawfinger

Aqua were 3 Danes and 1 Norwegian girl, as far as I remember :P

About Italian singers, they do not write originally in English, they just translate Italian stuff. You can hear the same songs in Italian, Spanish and English.

(Though probably the best Italian singer sings exclusively in English. She’s called Elisa, and her music is just awesome. Check out “Gift” or “Labyrinth”).

Milli Vanilli were German? I didn’t know that.

Sweden, Germany and France.

I think Scandinavians, esp Swedes. Maybe Germans, too.

I‘m sorry but you seem to forget Canada:
Celine Dion
Bryan Adams
Shania Twain
Rush (for the olders...)

and don‘t even get me start about actors...

Sorry, didn‘t read about the ‘non-english speaking‘ specification... my mistake...

Well, Quebec is french-speaking, so Canada is a possibility....

Then since in Ireland Gaelic is also an official language, widely spoken, I guess it counts, and with The Cranberries, The Corrs, U2... I guess it also wins.

(most of those Canadians artists come from English speaking parts, actually Quebequians do great as French-speaking -just think of Céline Dion or Mylene Farmer)
