ROYAL WEDDING 9th April 2005

Today is the Royal Wedding in the UK of Prince Charles (formally married to Princess Diana) to Camilla Parker Bowels.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4426993.stm
I am so looking forward to sitting down and watching this on today on TV and am happy it got moved to Saturday when the pope died (the wedding was suppose to be on Friday 8th but got moved this week because of the Popes funeral)!
I cannot believe some of the attitudes of the people in the UK because he is re marrying. Yeah Charles openly admits he was and having an affair with Camilla when he was married to Diana, but she was no angel either….
Its years since the whole Diana thing and some people seem reluctant to let things go!
I want to wish them CONGRATULATIONS and all the best for the future, and yes I would love to see Camilla take the title of Queen! I never seen Prince Charles smile as much since he announced he was getting married!
It’s going to be a nice day, a wedding followed by the Grand National!

Diana is dead... about time people remembered that.... if the truth be told she was used only to provide two heirs to the throne!

The Dean of Windsor leads prayers from the lectern in the nave and the congregation sings the hymn Praise My Soul, the King of Heaven.

some of the crowd were booing when they arrived.
I cant stand the royal family, but i thought that was a bit cruel
per_mson said on April 9, 2005 13:12:
I think people should leave Camilla and Charles alone and let them marry if they want that. It is none of their business to boo. If Camilla would have wanted to marry Charles from the beginning (which she didn’t since she didn’t want to become queen) the story with Diana would probably never happened. And beside that I don’t think Diana was an angel either.... ;)

Just a thought. Yesterday’s funeral and today’s wedding. Looks strange...
If they loved each other for more than 30 years they deserve to be happy.
ally77 said on April 9, 2005 13:25:
@ ncurren, yeah I heard the booing how rude can some people be....
I think Camilla and Charles looked great today, am just about to go and watch the service! :)

The only special thing I care about today, is my parents wedding anniversary.
Jud (moderator) said on April 9, 2005 14:40:
yesterday a funeral and today a wedding strange? I guess they weren’t the only ones to marry today, we saw at least 3 just-married cars in the city today anyway :D
what I do find strange and stupid is that his parents weren’t there when they got married, only at the blessing later on :S That’s loving and understanding parents ;)
I don’t care about this royal family neither the others, most of them seem to be a joke, but I think they should just do what they feel like, if they love eachother so be it.

who cares? what a lot of trouble to go to, writing down the whole schedule when nobody gives a damn.
girl7twenty7 said on April 9, 2005 15:42:
@Judith It’s ok with getting married today. it’s all about media, there is such an accidental irony in broadcasting of 2 different ceremonies in 2 days in raw. When they were showing the Royal Wedding today, i remembered them showing yesterday’s Pope’s funeral. It made me think how strange life can be, one day we laugh, the next one we cry, the other day we’re happy...
Even loving parents are humans and sometimes cannot understand their children. By her acting the Queen showed her attitude to this marriage.
“I don’t care about this royal family neither the others, most of them seem to be a joke”
Well described :)
Jud (moderator) said on April 9, 2005 17:04:
well at least the wedding wasn’t expected to be a huge thing with politicians from all around the world á la Felipe de España, would have been a tight program.
I got fed up with the royalty since the Spanish royals showed who they really were/are. The King couldn’t care less about the country, the son only cares about getting a nice house and $$$$$... If it was up to me we should become a Republic and decide who we want to be the representative of Spain in the world (together with the president/prime minister) every xx years. Besides the fact they still live somewhere in the past with their traditions.. aaarghh and I hate the way they wave their hands!
Btw, is the british royal family getting any money from the state?

Doh, it¡’s called COPY & PASTE!
@ Manda Happy Anniversary to your parents! :)
The Queen choose not to attend the service of the actually wedding as it is well known although she has given her blessing for the wedding she does not really agree with it!
Anyone else noticed how she hardly smiled through the blessing and on the steps at the end! I thought she was rather rude. At least Prince William and Harry looked happy for there father!
xarrrr said on April 9, 2005 17:35:
lol i thought it was funny when they packed the royal family into busses to take them all to the reception :P
girl7twenty7 said on April 9, 2005 20:26:
It was a great idea indeed - the royal family and the buses! LOL

@ coyboyusa, you can always choose to leave the topic if it means nothing to you...

I think the entire family is kind of embarrassing. As far as I know tax payers are financing their life style, so couldn’t you at least expect them to lead a decent one?
LittleSpooky said on April 11, 2005 22:04:
Well, the Queen didn’t want to attend. 5 to 1, she was still smarting over the accusations years ago that her son was having an affair while still married to Diana.
“Not my son! He wouldn’t stoop to something that common.” seemed to be the sentiments when the accusations first flew. Honestly, if it were me, I wouldn’t have attended the wedding either.
xarrrr said on April 11, 2005 22:32:
the queen may not have attended the “legal” ceremony, but she was there for the most important part of the day, the blessing. and i think thats way more important....
Jud (moderator) said on April 12, 2005 05:10:
I would like my parents to be everywhere but well, they are royals, and specially this family... seems to like it to be talked about. What do you want, they used to marry with eachother some time ago ;)
Oldag75 said on April 12, 2005 16:39:
I’m just emotionally torn over who is the more alluring, perky, sensual and attractive – Camilla, or her new mother-in-law. They both simply drive me wild with yearnings.
ncurran said on April 12, 2005 18:02:
The truth is the royal family are pretty irrelevant to most people nowadays. Probably the further north you go, the less people respect them. Certainly most scottish people dont hold much regard for them at all myself included. I dont have anything against them as people, and i think that they do a lot of good work, but i just find the whole concept of being a “loyal subject” very bizarre and outdated. I cringe whenever i hear the british national anthem. Luckily scotland already has is own anthem about killing thousands of english soldiers at bannockburn..haha
ally77 said on April 12, 2005 20:21:
I think the official photos are very nice... all happy and smiling! hope they are enjoying there honeymoon!
ncurran said on April 12, 2005 20:54:
I agree Camilla scrubbed up pretty nicely actually. I especially liked her second outfit....very elegant. While I don’t respect the monarchy, I certainly do wish them the best for the future as a married couple
ncurran said on April 13, 2005 15:02:
well neither of them are the most attractive people in the world, but i have to say i do quite like charles, though as i said before, i dont support the monarchy. When I worked at IBM, he visited the plant, and we watched him from the window get off his royal train. He was wearing a kilt (not bad legs) and he gave us a wave at the window with a big smile. After that i thought hes not so bad at all
Kazza said on April 14, 2005 07:02:
I agree also.
I have an immense love and respect for the British Monarchy, although I am unfortunately one of few Australians who still do.
Monarchy -for me- still has a sort of mystical element about it, and probably the fact that it is an ancient intitution which has survived for so long that drives my passion for it.
I believe people need to look harder at what it represents, and take an interest in its function in society before they write it off. A little research goes a long way in defeating such ignorant and disrespectful attitudes.
The reason HM The Queen did not attend the marriage ceremony was because it was not held in a church, and as head of the Church Of England, she felt it would not be appropriate to do so. Especially as the ceremony itself was performed by a civil celebrant, not a member of the clergy, therefore making it a “common” ceremony and as royal protocol would dictate, she would not have been able to attend because she is not a commoner. (For the same reason, she cannot enter the the House Of Commons- the British house of parliament.)
Unfortunately the media twists things to make HRH Camilla look like the bad guy, and HM The Queen to look like she snubbed them.
I, for one, hope that they can now have a happy life together.
God save the Queen.
Oldag75 said on April 14, 2005 17:45:
Yes, the “royal class” – which is fabulously wealthy, presently living on the interest upon capital plundered from the citzenry over the course of several centuries... and is rich by a mere accident of birth.
The existence of royalty gave rise to the notion “money is the root of all evil” – because once upon a time, only the royals were wealthy, and their wealth derived from the work of slaves. That plunder was properly considered evil, and we see evidence of the sentiment various places, such as the Biblical admonition about the difficulty for a rich man to enter heaven.
Today, we should say “unearned wealth is one of the many roots of evil” – and there’s a lot of unearned wealth being enjoyed by “royal” families all over the world. But it’s probably good that Charles and his kin have money for subsistence. They are not capable of producing anything for which anyone would voluntarily pay a salary or price.
Kazza said on April 15, 2005 09:50:
The modern royal family are now required to do quite a large amount of work in order to “earn” their HRH title- for charities for instance. If they do not, it can be taken away. Many of them work tirelessly to bring attention to many worthy causes such as osteoporosis with which HRH Camilla has been involved for many years.
Oldag75 said on April 15, 2005 12:10:
Yeah, they really look like they are tireless workers. That Charles, with his lean and hungry haggard look of an over-achiever, he’s a real work hog. One consolation, though, is that these “royal” charlatains are, in a way, born into slavery – they are saddled with all sorts of obligations from birth... and that’s a good thing, considering all of the free wealth they possess.
If these were truly people of quality, they would donate all of their (plundered) wealth to the national treasury, then use their tremendous intellectual and other abilities to produce something of value for customers to purchase voluntarily. If they are genuinely royal, that is to say above us all, then they should re-build their vast family fortune in short order (and without stealing it, this time).
