When I moved to Montréal I did a lot of caterings to finance my studies. Those parties were always attended by pretty important people (Pierre Trudeau, George H Bush, Rania Al-Abdullah).
The first time I worked for that catering company, the mayer of Montréal, Pierre Bourque, sat on my table and as we served the main course I crashed against a coworker and my plate hit the back of Bourque’s head. I thought he’d freak out (having hit him pretty hard) but surprisingly he didn’t say a word (mind you he remained that way for the rest of the night).
Another time Kevin Spacey was there who, after a couple of drinks, seemed to have far more fun with our team than the people at his table.

I once went to Club Med, and at supper one night, the conversation drifted to “famous people we have met.” Talk went around the table, I once waited on such-and-such a star, I saw so-and-so at the grocery store etc etc.... and then everyone looked at me. Thing is, I had never seen anyone famous, didn’t know anyone at all noteworthy. So, everybody at the table pooled their beads and bought me a drink! It was great!
I did know two guys, when I was 21, who later became relatively famous corporate executives in the Houston oil industry. They were both supernaturally self-interested, inwardly focused, impatient and rude with others, markedly unpleasant. All of their energies were directed upward, intent upon pleasing their superiors and gleaning promotion. If that’s what it takes to be famous, they can have it.
Oh... and several years later, after running at a Houston park by a golf course, I did see Arnold Palmer getting into a rented – RENTED – Cadillac. (And he was alone, driving himself.) I said, “Hey, Arnie!” He politely paused, smiled and waved at me, and said, “How you doing, friend?” It’s obvious that some famous guys are gentelmen, and others are not.

sweet_stalker57 said on March 20, 2005 23:15:
hey Sparv did you forget you met me?!! :)
I lived and chilled in SF for many years and would see people all the time but I don’t really care and
wouldn’t run up to them or anything. Like you would see Christina Applegate in the coffee shop or some of the guys in Metallica going to the same show.
I did get thrown out of a concert by Jesse James for stage diving once when I was a kid.

Sparvogamarie said on March 22, 2005 15:15:

He is the sweetest man you have ever met? Oh God, did you even really get to know him! lol
Sparvogamarie said on March 22, 2005 19:08:
You don’t need to know someone to think they are nice when you meet them! I’ve met him twice and I have to say he’s a really kind man.
Sparvogamarie said on March 23, 2005 14:23:
Oh cool Marc I always wanted to meet Celine. Is she nice? She seems like a sweet person.

I met Jon Bon Jovi after the Hyde Park Show they did back in 2003. 90,000 people! What a show! He was staying the same hotel as me (I must say that it was only a 3 star hotel!) Apparently, no one would expect him to be there, so he can be left alone. Spent about 10 mins chatting until he left. Very good way to end the night

I met the man who plays the father of the family in Alf (I think he’s called Max Wright) in Athens last summer, in the tram, for looooooooong minutes from the Helliniko Olympic Complex (where I went to watch a baseball game of Cuba) trying to get to Syntagma Square. I was not talking to him but he was sitting in front of me talking all the time to a very surprised looking American family.
Whoever was in Athens last August knows what I mean by “looooooooooong”. The rest I don’t think you can imagine :D
Mari said on March 25, 2005 10:01:

Lol Santi it wasnt glamorous or anything. I was pushed and shuffed till i finally made it to the front and he grapped my book and hastily scribbled what i guess is suppose to be his signature and then he pushed it back into my hands and i was pushed away by a fan..
Actually he was the only driver who bothered to take some time out for his fans that day. Nice guy.

I was wondering if you guys have met someone famous and what happened. I have met Roxette, and I have also met Yeardley Smith who does the voice of Lisa Simpson on the cartoon Simpsons.
If anyone knows the Australian TV show Neighbours, I have met Harold Bishop from that show! I also could have met Eva Dahlgren but you had to buy her book to meet her and it was too expensive (sorry Judith!) So apart from Rox I haven’t really met anyone so exciting!
