French Pop

I looked through some of the lists of favorite artists that people made, and surprisingly never saw a single mention of Desireless, although every second person mentioned Madonna
Desireless “Francois” from 1988 is a Masterpiece (John, Voyage Voyage, Elle Est Commencements, tombee D’Une montagne, Animal.......). Amazing album with songs all written by Jean Michel Rivat. Melodic New-Wavish Synthpop!
Anyone listen to any other good French Pop?
I also like Stephanie, and some of Joe Dassin is awesome :)

You never heard Céline Dion?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! :OOOO
Btw, she’s Canadian. Actually Mylène is from Québéc as well, but she’s living for a loooooong time in France.

Celine is Canadian, as you pointed out (and judging by some of her latest work, one might say Swedish). And i never heard her French-speaking stuff

Euro: I only know Voyage Voyage by her, it´s fantastic and still played on the radio.
cheers.

Céline singing in French is far better than Celine singing in English. There is so much more depth and feeling in the former than in the latter...

LaMan, Voyage Voyage is just a peak of the iceberg
You’ve got to check out the full LP “Francois”, fantastic music all the way!

No one likes Alizée?
I do, I think some songs are good, and she does look good too :D
My favs are L’Alize and J’en ai marre.
I think all of her lyrics are comoposed by Mylène Farmer, so it’s not really surprising that I like her :DD
Anarem said on March 27, 2005 23:15:
Isabelle Boulay’s voice is amazing. She did this wonderful version of “Non, je ne regrette rien”.
And Alizée’s “J’en ai marre” is a hoot!

last time i checked frogs croak they don’t make pop music :)

I also like Alizée. Especially ” J’ai pas 20 ans” and many other songs, but I don’t like “J’en ai marre”.

hey cowboy, always difficult to enjoy good music when you can‘t understand a word... I‘m not as patriotic as you americans but, i think if canadians are frogs (like you pretend) then many americans seems to come from canada when you listen to them ¨cry¨ and you call that music..
