I’ve only just heard they did a press conference, and I haven’t found any link to it yet. But, to all music lovers everywhere... I am VERY VERY pleased to announce the greatest of all the greatest news you’ll possibly ever hear all year!
BUSTED ARE KAPUT! THEY’RE GONE! SPLIT! NADA! NOTHING NO MORE!
And I am so damn excited about this I can’t wait until the charts are rid of them for good! No more bloody What I Go To School For or Thunderbirds Are Go or Sleeping With The Light On or any of the other rubbish they’ve released in this god-awful 3 years of idiocy they call existance in this excuse for a music business!
Let’s chant: YAY!!!

Nice to know!
Come on!!!! Are you telling me, if Britney Spears announced her retirement - you wouldn’t be jumping over the moon with excitement? Busted have been a pain in the asshole of the UK for a long 3 years! WE DESERVE TO CELEBRATE!
So, if you don’t wish to participate in the celebrations - bugger off! You party pooper!

In my opinion Busted weren’t talentless. Even though the live performance when I saw them was ropey, at least they co-wrote their own songs and played their own instruments, so in that sense did not fall into the category of a typical boy band. I like Roxette for their pop music, and I think Busted, in their limited time together, did produce a limited number of good pop songs. They didn’t take their music too seriously, and came out with some good harmonies and catchy riffs. There are certainly many less talented, more manufactured boy bands still together. As ever, just my opinion... all the best from Rich

Maybe not, but they’ve had eight top 3s including four #1s here in the last few years... Rich

Rich, have you seen their reailty TV show on MTV? If not... I advise you strongly watch it. The thing I hated most about Busted was the fact that they were VERY big-headed. They saw themselves more as a Green Day than an Nsync. I’d love to quote Matt from that show, but he was so stupid I can’t remember exactly what he said. He said something like “I don’t wanna go over to the US and be seen as another Nsync or something, we worked really hard to lose that in the UK!”. But... the fact of the matter is - Busted records were only bought by 7 year olds. The fact that they jump around on stage with guitars that aren’t even plugged in to a live amp - that doesn’t make them any different to Nsync.
And, if you look at the credits on the albums, you can see that all of these McFly’s and Busted’s write their songs with about 6 other people... which isn’t much to brag about...

Hi Richard. He he, I can well believe that the guys from Busted are arrogant twonks, but I do like to listen to a song in order to decide whether or not I like it, and their personalities have little to do with my opinion that I think they made a few good pop songs. I also offered to the forum a point simply as a contrast to your negative assessment of the band, that I see a distinction between them and more manufactured bands because of their influence on the song-writing. In fact the first 3 singles from their last album (including two #1s) were collaborations between members of Busted + this 1 other guy, so I see a vivid difference between that set-up and, say, the winner of X Factor being told which single he’s releasing the next week. Whilst you don’t like Busted at all, I’d be surprised if you didn’t see that, to be honest. Happy Sunday & all the best from Rich ;-)

since I don’t listen to radio anymore, neither watch MTV or whatever.. I don’t even know who they are, neither have they been nagging me - neither does Britney or whoever else, for the same reason as above: I don’t listen to them ;)
So I couldn’t care less of what they do or what they do not

It’s clear that this thread should therefore be renamed “A Great Day For Music Lovers In The UK!” or if I had it my way it would be “A Sad Day For Music Lovers In The UK!” LOL :-)

What I go to school for is a great song. Kind of funny. But anyway, I’m not sad that they split.
