The Weight of the World

Does anyone have any info on this song? What it’s about, why it was written, inspiration, etc. I think it may be one of the most unique songs they’ve ever done, it sounds so different from all the rest of their songs. Since it was just a bonus track on the second CD in “The Ballad Hits” I’ve never seen anything written about it but thought maybe someone read something in an interview with Per at some point?

Where? I already have the standard 1 CD edition of The Ballad Hits... and I don’t have a credit card, so I can’t buy the 2CD edition online, and it’s never available in the shops here in the UK. And there are never any sources for this kinda of rare stuff on eMule...
*weaps at the thought of never being able to hear it* :‘-(

Personally I’m a little surprised by the amount of support for this song as I prefer all of the other new tracks on the bonus Ballad & Pop Hits discs: Every Day is my favourite (5th best of all time), followed by Makin’ Love To You. All the best from Rich ;-)

RoxHard, why don’t you try Kazaa? I’m pretty sure you’ll have success (by the way, the last time I made a search for Roxette songs, it returned about 10000 sources).

weight of the world is quite nice, but to me it sounds like they gave up halfway through and copied and pasted per’s demo vocals into marie’s final version.
Makin’ love to you is the real pearl on those 2 bonus discs in my opinion! :)

“Making love to you it’s all I ever wanna do”- yeah, simple and fun;) I always smile listening theese nice words;)
“Smtms you lose the weight of the world, smtms you cry-y-y” that was my most favorite song some years ago VERY VERY SENSITIVE, PURE TENDERNESS!!! The lyrics are extremely tender:@I kiss your smile... I put my ars around your golden head... Oh I love to watch your yeas when I make love 2 u...” very calm, sweet and sexy song, cool:)

RoxHard:
You can try to get the “A thing About You” single or maxi-single. “The Weight Of The World” is an extra–track on that.

Yes, I’ve got the single A Thing About You, there are: A Thing About You, The Weight Of The World and A Thing About You (video) super:)

i think that the extra tracks on TPH/TBH are some of the better songs that they have released of late, really makes you wonder why they weren’t put on an album.
Of all of them i like It Hurts and Everyday the most, with Makin’ Love to You close behind, even Bla bla bla bla has its charms :-)

I don’t know but I see that TWOTW and Everyday for instance didn’t fit at all with the whole mood and vibe of recording of RS album ...that was why they were put aside .... the fact that they were included here means that the bands does recognize as good songs but that just didn’t go along with the rest ...
As for It Hurts and Making Love I would probably say the same: they might have not seen fit for the HAND album but all the mess within this record I personally say that if they had been there it wouldn’t have solve that mess at all ... but would be definitively 2 of those ones I could never stop listening and I was no longer bothering if it fitted or not the album. I think that having right after Pay The Price would have sound good but this is my opinion

i really loved making love to you but it didnt belong on the pop hits compilatin, the percussion in the song and the very simple emotion in it ranks it up with salvation in mny top rox songs, and it would have made a great video

Everyday is genius - pure and simple. A classic per-penned, marie-sung stunner.

Did Marie write Everyday? Oh my... I was so sure that Per wrote that song. Anyway... It’s Marie at her best writing days!
Rich-UK said on January 15, 2005 09:40:
It’s an awesome combination: my two favourite songs in the post-DBUGTTC era had the lyrics penned by Per and the music composed by Marie: Beautiful Things and Every Day. Wow... all the best, Rich ;-)

I’ve never heard that song :(
