The Look ranks #25 on VH1 List. . .

Of the 40 Most Awesomely Bad #1s.
Mostly citing the nonsense lyrics. Comedians and commentators even dissed Marie’s hair—Peter Pan was the reference I think. . .
Not sure how to feel about that. . .

Peter Pan? *Sniggers*
Ah, if you ain’t immune to the pee taking of Roxette by now, you never will be. I’ve heard it since I became a fan, the UK music industry don’t much like roxette. But it’s not stopped them being loved by lots of brits. ;)
I mean, they gotsta find something funny about themselves too... opportunity Nox video springs to mind. ;)

Hehe...how many #1s has Madonna had in the Uk (or the US) ?
As much as I like her, some of her stuff (especially in the lyrical sense seem pretty light and nonsensely..)
But you can never know what’s really been going on in the lyricist mind... :-)

It was in the US. I was rather amused by it. . . The Look isn’t lyrical magic, but it really isn’t Awesomely Bad.
As for videos—Dressed For Success is a trainwreck and The Big L is a bit too far on the campy side.

Not too long ago I saw a show here( in the US) and it was the Top 50 Awesomly Bad songs ever or something but there was no Roxette in there:) Europe was in the countdown with the Final Countdown :P, or Ricky Martin with She Bangs....
Rox On!

hey i can’t belive it, i watch often vh1 and i’ve never seen Roxette on a bad rank there ..also last week i saw Top 10 1989 where also The Look was on the 6th position , i can’t say that Marie looks very well in this video but i don’t think it’s for this chart....it’s a sad thing
MiracleMan said on April 9, 2005 22:50:
Hmmm—it’s aired in Europe now. . .
*chuckling* Aaaaaaaand I linked this thread to itself. . . so much for that bit of business. I’ve deleted it to save the those who might otherwise get dizzy and throw up.

That’s strange cause Roxette never had a Number 1 in the UK. :)
rox-kuryliw said on April 10, 2005 10:01:
but didnt IMHBL go top 5 in 90 and 92 in UK ? Makes a number 1 to me hehe
Rich-UK said on April 10, 2005 10:20:
IMHBL reached the top 5 in 1990 and 10 in 1993. It was the first song to reach the top 10 with two releases in the 1990s.

It was on VH1 Europe..
I saw last 10 songs..
Such countdown may have some sence ,but the comments were realllllly stupid....
Usually coments on VH1 Europe are more professional and correct...

One stupid countdown can’t ruin the whole TV but lets hope Vh1 won’t go in MTV direction..

VH1 did a series of these shows, but I’m not certain of the other categories. I know there was an Awesomely Bad Love Song list for Valentines Day and at least one other.
I think the idea came from a UK? magazine from last year that compiled the 100 or 50 Cheesiest Songs Ever. One of the commentators (the British fellow) on the VH1 show was the editor of that magazine.

I think the Look is one of Per’s better lyrics. I think they do deserve to have the piss taken out of them sometimes. At other times, I feel that they have been the ones TAKING the piss all along. oam

VH1 in what country? I know the UK hates Per’s lyrics, while the US usually has no problem with them.
