a pity they didnt make the collection complete and missed off some of her lesser known singles, but i am especially looking forward to the scissor sisters collaboration
KYLIE RELEASES THE DOUBLE CD ’ULTIMATE KYLIE’, THE ONLY GREATEST HITS COLLECTION TO SPAN HER WHOLE CAREER, ON PARLOPHONE ON NOVEMBER 15.
THE BRAND NEW SINGLE, ’I BELIEVE IN YOU’, CO-WRITTEN BY KYLIE AND JAKE SHEARS AND BABYDADDY FROM THE SCISSOR SISTERS, IS RELEASED ON NOVEMBER 29.
TWO NEW TRACKS FEATURE ON ’ULTIMATE KYLIE’, WHICH FEATURES 33 TRACKS IN TOTAL.
Kylie Minogue, one of the top selling female artists in the world, releases “Ultimate Kylie”, the only comprehensive collection of her greatest hits from 1987 to the present day, on Parlophone on November 15.
The two CD set, the only one to feature each of her 31 hit singles, also includes two brand new tracks, one of which, ’I Believe In You’, Kylie wrote and recorded with Jake Shears and Babydaddy from the Scissor Sisters. This stunning collaboration will be released as Kylie’s new single on November 29.
Since ’The Loco Motion’ became her first Australian No 1 in 1987, Kylie has been a record breaker. When ’I Should Be So Lucky’, her first UK single, became No 1 in March 1988, it entered the record books as the first single in over 10 years to stay at No 1 for five weeks. She has been breaking records ever since. The statistics speak for themselves, and could fill pages: in essence, she has broken records in every decade of her career – most recently, 2001’s classic No 1 ’Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ marked Kylie’s 5th top 10 single since the beginning of 2000, making her the most successful female singles artist of the millennium. “Ultimate Kylie” features;
31 INTERNATIONAL TOP 40 HITS
7 UK NO 1 SINGLES
25 UK TOP 10 SINGLES
Her total single sales worldwide are estimated at a staggering 20 million copies, whilst album sales easily take her record sales worldwide to over 40 million.
Suffice to say that in 1991, industry bible ’Music Week’ declared that, in the history of the British charts, Kylie was the only act to have their first 13 releases go Top 10, a feat that The Beatles, Elvis, Madonna and Michael Jackson had not achieved.
The track listing for ’Ultimate Kylie’ is:

Of this consummate collection of pop classics, Kylie says;
“Since my first hit, I can’t believe how quickly time has passed. This collection is very dear to me and holds a lifetime of memories. There is nothing like time to give you a sense of perspective and I hope the listener gets as much enjoyment out of these tracks as I do. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to experiment throughout the years and that my fans have embraced the need in me to try new approaches. I am just as excited about the new tracks featured here as I am about all the others on the record. At this point in my career, I am happy to celebrate the past and look forward to the future”
’ULTIMATE KYLIE’ IS RELEASED ON PARLOPHONE ON NOVEMBER 15.

as far as i know they will not be remixed....there were rumours about that yes, but apparently its not true.
I think this GH will do really well though as it basically covers her whole career.
I think the original plan was to release a greatest hits just for her parlophone years (yes the GH happy EMI like roxette), but there was a bit of an uproar from fans...it would be a bit ridiculous when she has only released 3 albums with them, so i think thats when they came up with this idea.
It should do well in the xmas market anyway
RoxHard said on September 23, 2004 20:39:
I think this is a terrible idea. Body Language hit a bad note even with Brittish critics. I don’t think it’s the best time to release a greatest hits, especially since both PWL & deConstruction decided to release a Greatest Hits of her work from 1988-1998, up until Light Years. And I even think the tracklisting is rubbish! Why does every ignore the brilliance of Some Kind Of Bliss? It’s one of her best tracks!
CD1
I SHOULD BE SO LUCKY (yeah alright - she can’t not have this one here)
GOT TO BE CERTAIN (the same)
THE LOCO-MOTION (the same)
JE NE SAIS PAS POURQUOI (absolute rubbish!!)
ESPECIALLY FOR YOU(duet with Jason Donovan) (one of her biggest hits, but still rubbish!)
HAND ON YOUR HEART (an ’ok’ song...)
WOULDN’T CHANGE A THING (rubbish!)
NEVER TOO LATE (rubbsih!)
TEARS ON MY PILLOW (cheesy!)
BETTER THE DEVIL YOU KNOW (great)
STEP BACK IN TIME (absolute rubbish!)
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO? (rubbish!)
SHOCKED (rubbish)
GIVE ME JUST A LITTLE MORE TIME (good)
CELEBRATION (THE WORST SONG SHE’S EVER DONE!)
CD2
CONFIDE IN ME (great!)
PUT YOURSELF IN MY PLACE (one of her best pop songs)
WHERE THE WILD ROSES GROW (with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds) (beautiful)
DID IT AGAIN (great)
BREATHE (great! but this better be the single version!)
SPINNING AROUND (bored of this now)
ON A NIGHT LIKE THIS (Zzz...)
KIDS (with Robbie Williams) (Zzzzzzzzzzz...)
PLEASE STAY (this is still quite good...)
CAN’T GET YOU OUT OF MY HEAD (bored of this now)
IN YOUR EYES (bored of this now)
LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT (great!)
COME INTO MY WORLD (better be the single remix!)
SLOW (good)
RED BLOODED WOMAN (Zzz..)
CHOCOLATE (better be the single remix - album version is terrible!)
She really should have made it a 1CD collection, and waited for another album! This is like Roxette releasing Don’t Bore Us... after Joyride!

ncurran said on September 23, 2004 22:27:
roxhard, i agree with some of what you said. I disagree with the timing though, i think this is an ideal time to bring out a greatest hits. In the rush up to the christmas period GHs always do well, and i think this collection is going to be a massive success in the UK at least because there are so many people that own a few of her albums but not all of them. And after the lukewarm reception that Body language got from the public, a huge GH like this would put her back at the top, there is rumours of a big Greatest Hits tour in the spring aswell. There is going to be massive promotion, and i think it will achieve in putting her back on top again.
It is a bit disappointing that they have omitted some tracks. I would have prefered to have every single included, and that way you appeal to as wide an audience as possible. For example in your comments you didnt like songs like shocked, what do i have to do,and never too late they are some of my favourites from the PWL days....
the thing is theyve put all the PWL tracks on the first CD, and tried to squeeze the rest on the 2nd CD. I read it might have something to do with copyright issues aswell. Only the cover versions from her 4th album have been included, one of the most disappointing omissions is finer feelings...but apparently PWL was sold to warner after her third album so it might have something to do with it. The reason some kind of bliss and where is the feeling have been omitted might have something to do with the fact that BMG have their own kylie collections for that time period..
who knows the reasoning behind it....but its about a complete collection as we can get when she has been signed to 3 different record companies. The only thing i really wish wasnt on there was tears on my pillow....but i’m sure that was only included so the album could claim to contain 7 number one singles....shame on the british people for getting that to number one in the charts

ncurran said on October 3, 2004 15:07:
i have a 47 second clip of kylies new single “I believe in you”, if anyone wants a copy. Its one of the songs she recorded with the scissor sisters and it sounds great.
By the way, the release dates have been pushed back, the album is now released on Nov 22nd and the single on Dec 6th.
RoxHard said on October 4, 2004 01:36:
“As they say in america kylie who>”
Fever went Platinum in America. Can’t Get You Out Of My Head and Love @ First Sight both made the billboard hot 100 Top 5 (CGYOOMH: #3, L@FS: #5).
And Shania has taken a bit of a downfall. Come On Over went X8Platinum in the UK, and her latest barely went Platinum. She’s lost 700% of her fans. Even Roxette didn’t stumble THAT bad in the UK!
Edit:
Oh, and she’s had 5 #1’s on the billboard ’dance’ chart: Can’t Get You..., In Your Eyes, Love @ First Sight, Slow and Chocolate.
coyboyusa said on October 4, 2004 12:27:
shanias last album went 4x platinum in the usa, and she had 2 top 40 singles, shania is an established artists in the states kylie had 2 dance single in thew states, and frankly kylie can’t sing
rox-kuryliw said on October 4, 2004 12:38:
kylie does great pop music i think better than madonna, shania did well after the realise of the rocky ’that dont impress me much’ which was good but she does nothing for me no more ! i think different taste in music for europe and american ie we dont have a huge country music base in europe, more dance pop europop .
i think kylie has a wonderful sweet voice , the girl sings VERY well live, you dont have hits and sell out shows for as long as she does if she cant and be that huge in europe and downunder for just being on a daytime soap for a year hehe, its just different tastes i guess.
ncurran said on October 4, 2004 15:14:
coyboy, it is a great misconception that kylie cant sing. In fact if you had ever seen her live you would be amazed at how powerful her voice can actually be. She has a much stronger voice live than most other female performers. I am not trying to pretend that she has stunning vocal talent, but people dont realise just how talent she has. If you hear her reach the high notes in perfect pitch on a song like confide in me, you would understand. By the way, Jake Shears from the scissors sisters commented after recording with kylie that he was amazed by her vocal range, and the only other 2 female singers he has heard with a range like that are Kate Bush and Dolly Parton.
As for the US success, to be honest, being successful in the US doesnt mean a lot these days considering the crap that music stations play over there. For some reason, Kylie is classified as dance rather than pop in the US market, and dance has pretty much a cultish following over there. Why radio stations have to be split by genre i have no idea. Music shouldnt always be so narrowly defined. Fever did go platinum, and she increased her status to an extent, but i understand that she is still somewhat of a minor celebrity in the US, possibly the gay community being an exception. The thing is she, like many international artists doesnt really care about US success. Her attitude is, if it happens it happens, but she is not going to move over there for a year to promote. The record company wanted her to spend a lot of time promoting there after the success of fever....but really she is satisfied with the success she has elsewhere.
Just look at the list on the above album, and you will see the long list of top 20 singles kylie has had in the UK...and even then there are 5 or 6 singles not included.
coyboyusa said on October 4, 2004 22:37:
if being successful here doesnt matter then wahy is it so man foreign bands come here to ” break”? don’t be anti american because they play alot of shitty rap theres alot of great music that comes out of america :)
ncurran said on October 5, 2004 03:57:
i’m not being anti-american, i am speaking fact. Many artists cant be bothered with the effort of going to america to promote. Many try and fail. But you have to accept that it is possible to continue an extraordinary career with absolutely zero success in US. True, record sales will never reach the dizzy heights of 20 million, but the artist can still become very rich, be known all over the world and tour all over the world. Kylie is a prime example of this. America is not the be all and end all of the music industry. In fact i would go as far as to say, that most good music comes from outside the USA.
rox-kuryliw said on October 5, 2004 10:55:
i think music artists are not as bothered as they used to be about breaking america, europes getting bigger and bigger each year, i think most are happy here lol.
ncurran said on October 12, 2004 04:15:
ive downloaded the 2 new tracks from the album.
I believe in you and Giving you up
They are fantastic, kylie is back....
The first single, I believe in you (the scissors sisters collab) is amazing, this is going to be massive...

her damn concerts are selling out, wish they’d hurry up and put the extra dates on sale the boyfriend wants tickets and ive been put in charge of getting them ;-)
been trying all bloody morning, already tons on ebay, i’d like to know where these ppls are getting them from as ticketmaster is only selling manchester and everywhere else phone lines are busy
atleast thats one xmas present solved if i manage to get tix ;-)
ncurran said on October 18, 2004 17:27:
i got tickets for glasgow, but it was bloody hard work and not very good seats either....it seems as soon as they go on sale all the best seats are gone
ncurran said on October 18, 2004 17:52:
do you want to go london vix, cos i’m pretty sure there will be another date announced tomorrow. Its rumoured she’ll be doing at least 4 shows at earls court, maybe even more
Vixzter said on October 18, 2004 17:59:
theres plenty of dates.....like 5 at earls court, the sunday has just gone on sale and near enough the whole lot is on ebay already
i personaly dont really wanna go although dont mind sitting thru it but my boyfriend is in love with the silly australian and i need him to see that shes only 2ft tall and does have cellulite too ;-)
if ure any further than 3 rows back ure gonna need a telescope to see her ;-)
*waits for flames from kylie fans*
anyways i will keep trying, should be a laugh, hope she singings ’better the devil you know’ ;-)
ncurran said on October 18, 2004 18:35:
you might be pleasantly surprised...she puts on a great show. Also i think there is going to be a huge catwalk down the middle of the arena so you should get a good view even if your abit further back. Its not on the seating plan for earls court, but they are just using their general plan. Manchester made one for the actual kylie concert and the catwalk goes right near the back of the main floor
Vixzter said on October 18, 2004 19:05:
i’m sure shes very good, ive seen the live dvds ;) i just get annoyed that my boyfriend thinks the sun shines out of her ..... ;-) *whispers* i’d rather go see kylie than madonna ;-)
now i know about that catwalk jobbie i think i may book the earls court tickets, if i could ever get thru on the phone
ncurran said on October 18, 2004 19:58:
i would wait til tomorrow...there are still only 2 earls courts dates on sale but another 2 are pencilled in and will probably go on sale tomorrow
Vixzter said on October 18, 2004 21:24:
ive been told to wait now anyways, guesse john doesnt want to see her that badly after all ;)
ncurran said on October 19, 2004 13:01:
the 3rd date at earls court went on sale today. did you get tickets?
Vixzter said on October 19, 2004 14:30:
nope, ive half given up now as bf doesnt seem intrested unless he can be 5 rows away which is impossible coz they go to EMI and competition winners, have tried to explain this several times but hes not having it so....wont be going to see kylie unless he realizes that just being there would be a larf.
manchester has 4 dates now, birmingham 3 and london 3, they have provisionaly booked 5 for earls court so i’m going to check now to see if anything else has come up.
rox-kuryliw said on October 19, 2004 15:12:
well i guess i wont be going ! ! its all sold out solid ! i saw an ad in the paper , i thought ow looks good, but then i heard on news its all sold out , whats the point of the ad lol.
RoxHard said on October 19, 2004 15:26:
Wow!
I don’t know why everyone’s still saying she’s “losing her touch”. If she can sell out this many shows - she’s obviously still doing SOMETHING right! ;)
ncurran said on October 19, 2004 16:07:
there should still be another few shows announced...so if you keep your eye out on the ticket websites you might be lucky.
Also another tip i heard from someone...if you dont manage to get tickets, its worthwhile phoning the venue on the day of the concert or a couple of days before....quite often they have held back seats for special guests, and are not needed in the end, and they are often the best seats...
yes, she definitely still has it...
ncurran said on October 19, 2004 16:14:
www.bookingsdirect.com (for all the shows)
www.secctickets.com (for glasgow)
www.eco.co.uk (for earls court)
www.ticketmaster.co.uk (for manchester)
i think you can order directly from the birmingham nec website aswell for the birmingham shows, but i dont have the website handy
Also if you want to order by phone, this seems to be the best number to phone, i was calling to find out if a transaction went through that f*cked up on the internet and i got through straight away and was only on hold for a minute...the other number i tried i couldnt get through at all
0870 7035 5000
ncurran said on October 19, 2004 17:01:
I just got this information about earls court from another website, so it shouldnt matter too much where you are seated
“The catwalk extends to the front of the last block on the arena floor, therefore everyone will get a great view for parts of the show no matter where you are seated.”
Vixzter said on October 19, 2004 17:28:
ive called and ive tried websites, i need 4 tickets and theres only 2’s left, waiting for other dats to come out but they seem to be sold before they even anounce them :(
Vixzter said on October 20, 2004 09:00:
i’m gonna try again today, will just try for 2 tickets and see what happens, i wanna go now and ironicaly the bf doesn’t LOL ;-)
Skye said on October 20, 2004 17:15:
I love kylie ! I’m not necessarily speaking of her cuteness either. I’ve got two of her live dvd’s and i’m very impressed. it’s not quite the same as being there...but it looks as if she really puts on a great show. her voice is really amazing in those dvd’s. She seems like she is a quite humble sweet person as well. need more artists like her. :-)
It seems Europe gets all the best music !
I want to be European. :- smiles
Vixzter said on October 20, 2004 17:21:

bloody good job too! ticket touts are a pain in the arse!! and they outghta be banned from ebay! :P

Are the old songs remixed or something like that?
I heard a while ago that she wanted to update the old songs...Is that now forgotten?? :/
I mean “I should be so lucky” and other 80’s and early 90’s tracks are pretty crappy-sounding...
