Animal Cruelty

I’m sorry to turn this Off-Topic section into a big sob-story, but I read these facts and my heart started bleeding!

”- U.S. Tuna fishermen are permitted to kill over 20,000 dolphins every year.
- 2 million sharks die in driftnets in the north pacific every year.
- only 1 in 10 baby chimpanzees survive the trip from the jungle to the zoo.
- 1 billion animals are killed each year in experiments.
- 17 million animals are trapped In the u.s. each year for fur.
- Many traps are so painful that animals chew through their own limbs to escape.
- For every useful fur animal trapped, two other animals (dogs, cats, deer, etc) are trapped and killed.
- In 1987 450,000 minks died on fur farms from heat exhaustion.”

“1 billion animals are killed in experiments every year”. My God! If we did this to ourselves, we’d all be dead in less than a decade!

proctor and gamble being one of the worse.... you know they even test brands on poor defenceless dog and cats.... until they almost die! :(

do YOU eat meat? :P

the killer whales swept into our bay a few months
ago and would gang drown the babies of other
whales. then eat just the heads.
the headless bodies would wash up on the beach and the Mexicans spray painted them with graffitti.

all mammals are cruel.

dolphins also kill each other.

The Three Delicacies Of The Cullinary World:

TRUFFLES: A fragrant type of mushroom. Not an animal. No cruelty involved here.

CAVIAR: Eggs from fish, Sturgeon being the most prized. The fish has to be killed in order to remove the eggs. The most famous and most sought after species, the Beluga is so rare that the annual catch cannot (legally, at least) exceed 100 units.

FOIE GRAS: French for “fat (gras) liver (foie)”. The liver of duck or goose. The three month old ducks have a metal tube shoved down their throat and are forced to ingest a pound of food three times daily for up to a month. This is in order to inflate the liver, supposedly making it tastier. Then, obviously they are killed and the liver removed. Their living conditions are harsh to say the least!

Enough said.

and then they claim there is a God.. he must have been drunk when he created the human being!!!

The other day I saw a report about the cats in Australia, “home” cats gone wild... they kill tonz of them every year because there are too many, well wtf, WHO brought the cats to the island??? >:|

in the next 100 years we will annihilat about 1/2 the world population of various species of aquatic and terrestrial life as we know it if u follow anything sci fi u know that pretty soon there aint gonna be much left

well i’m living in korea at the moment....the health food for older men in the summer time is dog soup...apparently it gives u stamina...though less and less people are eating it nowadays, mainly the older generation.
how do they kill them....hang them from a tree, beat them to make them scared and burn their feet (apparently the meat is more tender and delicious from the extra adrenalin created from the terrified dog)

How can someone eat cats and dogs??? Isn´t that brutal and sick??

why would that be worse than eating any other kind of meat?

psycho.

people used to eat people too or did yyou forget that, the simple fact is is unless an animal serves some purpose to man, aka cows and food, we are going to destryo them, man has no connections to earth becuase we don’t come from earth i reallly do believe that more and more every day

eat cats and dogs is brutal, as brutal as eat any other animal, but i think its more brutal to hear for a friend of mine who works with poor poeple that some families eat cats and dogs becouse they have not food... i know this topic is about animals and maybe most of you care a lot about animal, but to me is more important the people than the animals... its horrible to know how many sharks are dying but more horrible is to see a child eating cats...

Just for a thought:

The Wachowski Brothers had it right in “The Matrix”: Humanity is nothing but a virus. They start out in a pocket, grow, consume ALL resources, then expand into other areas. Everything else has developed a synchronity (SPELL CHECK PLEASE) with the world. Humanity HAS NOT and CAN NOT.”

@ La Man = I am from north sulawesi, Indonesia. And we ate everything. Snakes, Bat, and sadly to say cats and dogs.

I never eat cats, but yes... I did ate dogs many years ago, and it used to be my fav meat...

but I also have dog! but I have my own rule, which was I won’t ever eat my OWN dog...

but time changed, I started to love dogs, and other animals too. So I never ate dogs anymore. It’s been 8 years I guess!

but people in my place still eating dogs. I thinks its already part of the culture. and it will be hard to change.

Dolphins are very friendly animals.
Don’t kill them.
There are stories known that dolphins really save humans from a certain death.

I guess we cannot understand the fact of eating dogs or cats because for us they are PETS, as for indian cows are sacred and I guess they also think we are nuts for eating them.

I also took care of a rabbit who got injured, we had her for a couple of months home and then we put her out in the forest again, I would never ever eat rabbit since then (I don’t recall eating rabbit before that time either, as I was rather small and I don’t think I had ever eaten rabbit).

My dad only eats fish, he doesn’t really like meat but I think it has to do more with the fact that he spent his summer and all other holidays in his aunt’s village, in the farm, with lambs, pigs, chickens and all you can imagine, than with the taste of the meat. He had a pig as a pet, the pig was sleeping on his feet on the bed..

I would consider a person who eats his own pet has no heart. I could never ever bring up a chicken or turkey and then eat it for thanks giving. N e v e r.

I thought the same too, Judith. I even plan to be vegetarian someday. but if I tell the people where I live for no eating their pets, they will think I am inzane. it’s sad but thats what might happen.

Maj, a great picture I saw from Indo in a Oz surfing magizine... a full dead pig laying on the side of the road lit directly on fire for lunch. not cut up on sticks or gutted or washed or over coals or nothing.
:) just bam! light it up and go.
